Thanks for the great comparison. After seeing you in Long Beach with the Slim Turtle on the Tropic strap, I thought that if I had no watches and wanted just one watch, that would be the one. It looked so much more classy, retro, and one-watch keeper in person than on videos.

I want that new slim turtle too. SPB317 is the one I want. I would get a rubber tropic on it but I think it's too expensive at $800. I think for the finishing and movement if it were priced about $600, I would buy it. I just got the SPDC051 used for a good price. Give the slim turtle a few years and you can buy one for less.

I have Uncle Seiko Tropics and an original Isofrane. The Isofrane is a very high quality strap, it is pretty thick though. I prefer wearing the tropic straps, more comfy and a hell of a lot cheaper than the isofrane

I've owned an isofrane for 6 years, wear it weekly and it looks as good as new. Very tough straps.

Great comparison. I own examples of both straps and ordered them directly from the Synchron online store (two ISOfranes and one Tropic). They’re all very comfortable straps, but the ISOfranes are significantly thicker and a bit fiddly to get on and off (tight fit against the keepers, which I guess is a good thing). They do loosen up with time. One of my ISOfranes arrived with a damaged keeper and I followed up with their customer service about it. Still waiting for a resolution on that issue. Aside from that one problem, I do like the straps. Cheers! ⌚️🥃😎

I like the TROPIC for my SEIKO

Oh that Seiko SRPE93…. Makes me feel like a moron for buying a $2K + Oris Aquis. That Seiko is beautiful and all the watch you really need. Such a classic look. Wish it was so big though.

I've tried many and Joseph Bonnie has the best tropic strap imo. Vulcanized natural rubber, smells like vanilla, super well done, great buckle, looks period correct with the taper and overall look. And the best part - the edges of the strap are rounded! I definitely prefer it over the original one. About the Isofranes, well - they are superb. But to me they only look good on a big and chunky diver. They are super thick and bulky and the overall styling with the non taper and big buckle require a chunky watch to look appropriate. Borealis does a great version as well, way cheaper but definitely not as good - especially the buckles leave a lot to be desired imo. If I was going after a strap on that style, I'd definitely spend the money and get an original Isofrane

I bought an isofrane style strap from borealis and I’ve gotta say they’re amazing. I haven’t held a real isofrane strap but these look pretty much the same, cost less, and are very durable

Borealis makes very good "isofrane" type strap. There are less color options.

Those are both nice straps but they are both way way way way overpriced,. If people are willing to part with that kind of money for a watch band I guess they have a market but I ain't in it. I am not saying I don't use Tropic straps or "Isoprene" straps but I get mine for a lot less. Like five times less.
