I purchased my SPB297 from Belmont Watches and I can confirm they are an awesome company. They got my watch to me overseas in just 5 days from the time I placed the order. Can’t thank them enough
The case design on the mini turtle is underated, it's a beauty
Great video! I own an SRP777 Turtle which I have modified with a coin edge bezel and lumed ceramic insert. I also have an SPB313 (Slim Turtle with the white dial). Although I prefer the smaller size of the Slim Turtle, the case ergonomics of the larger Turtle are nicer in my view with the rounded edges and undercut sides. For the money (1/3 the price if you can find it) I think the SRP Turtle is a far superior watch. If they made a smaller version of the SRP Turtle, with the exact same case and features just scaled down to 40-42mm and a 20mm lug width, that would be the perfect diver watch in my opinion.
Mini Turtle is the rarest, even this black one was made just few years and than they put red text on the dial
The spb 317 is my favorite. That slimmer case makes a tool watch look so elegant. I have a sbdy113j1 land tortoise and it’s slimmer turtle case is amazing.
Great video and your 'rant' was spot-on. I have the SRPE93 on a tropic strap a well and it is an excellent all-arounder watch. The fit on my wrist is so vert comfortable and i really enjoy a day/date complication. My Turtle actually keeps very good time; better than my 62MAS re-issue which has a 6R movement.
What a great review! Thank you
As an owner, the mini's shorter lug-to-lug is all that held it back from wider acceptance. Had lug-to-lug been 46.5mm, and had they put the crown at 3.8, I bet it'd be ubiquitous. Fine with me as an owner that it's rare.
Great video. Been considering a turtle, thanks!
I've never heard anyone vocalise the enjoyment of cheap watches vs the enjoyment of the Seiko brand the way you did. Absolutely nailed it on the head 100%. Hadn't thought about it that way before, and I liked the comparison with Star Wars also. Nostalgia vs actually liking Star Wars. Nicely put. 🤯🤯

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the feedback, cheers!
I got the SPB317. I think its the perfect watch. Based on 6105-8000, many of them were PX purchased during Vietnam war and used by SF&SEALs guy
Just bought my first today.
Got the Mini Turtle Pepsi PADI SRPC41J1 then a JDM LE Green Teenage Ninja Turtle SBCY039. Good wearability, looks and low prices allow me to experiment with special colors. But instead of a Slim Turtle, thinking of getting a King Turtle with the same SKX Arrow hands next. Seiko should stick to their model’s “design language” and keep their designs consistent. Like Submariners with their iconic Mercedes hands, Casio and their 5600 square case, or BMWs with their kidney grills. A popular and enduring design trait really makes a company great with a loyal fan base. The Seiko Turtle case shape with their Arrow hands is an icon.

After reviewing the Seiko's Prospex lineup again, I am convinced this SPB317-315-313 series should be called the Slim Willard or Mini Willard instead of a Slim Turtle. The hands and 12 marker are more akin to the Design Language of the Willard.
Thanks for the presentation. If someone didn't have any watches and they wanted one everyday diver for under 1K, I could strongly recommend the SPB317 on the original Tropic.

The SRPE93 is my first Seiko. I love it. But I am considering installing a coin edge bezel. I just love the coin edge bezel look so much. 😂

I had that done for a nice mod, I should've probably included in the video kzread.info/dash/bejne/eWupsbBqmdWsYqg.htmlsi=8Yoy6ykRv-Fqt-Rw
I love my mini turtle
I’ve got a 779 and it loses 45 seconds a day. Great fit for someone with a small wrist, but as a timepiece. I’ve adjusted it and it kept really good time for about a week but then one night just reverted back to losing 45 seconds. It’s a shame as I like it but I wear a G Shock square as my daily.
I really wonder, what white stripes on 4 marker to 9 means ?
There is a reason why the slim turtle evolved into the turtle. Because the Turtle SRP777 is the best reissue of them all.
SRPE93 which says made in Japan in the dial , do they have kanji day option ?
Is SRPB19K1 considered turtle? I'm planning to collect all kinds of Turtles
Hello. May I ask you a question? Do you think there is a difference in quality between Seiko watches reference j and reference k?

In my personal experience, no, but others have pointed out differences based on particular references

Thank you for the comparison! Is it just me or the SPB317 seems the smaller of the bunch?

It does have the smallest width
To me the SRP is the best most classic looking one to me. I've had a couple, too bad they are just too big and heavy for me. 40-42mm would be perfect.
I need that slim turtle.

As a beginner enthusiast of both Seiko and Star Wars, I’ll have to DISAGREE with your comment on modern Star Wars! I agree with what you said about Seiko enthusiasts. But you cannot possibly defend modern Star Wars & the sequel trilogy they released!

Kids still love them and while far from perfect, they were still absolutely Star Wars movies.
I have never been disappointed since I became a customer of gussl. Their timepieces are of exceptional quality.
I sold my mini turtle black made in japan model for the same I bought it for. To late now for regrets

If you could only have one. What would it be?

Depends on what you mean by only one, only one watch and no collection, probably the slim turtle for the versatility, if only one turtle in a larger collection, then probably the mini turtle for its uniqueness.

@@AverageBros I have a reissue but want a slim turtle badly but haven’t tried one in yet. Doesn’t make sense to have both to me so one would have to go. Thanks for the reply!
I just purchased the SRPE93K1 (singles day -25% discount) and replaced the original rubber strap with a 22 mm 007 Goldfinger NATO strap. Really really nice watch and what a classy look it has now! My Seiko SNJ025P1 Arnie is now sporting the SRPE93K1 rubber strap which in my opinion is a huge upgrade over the rubber strap the Arnie originally had. Originally the Seiko Arnie had a rubber strap with a polished buckle and a brushed keeper. Looked very cheap and unfinished. Edit: I'm not an incredibly wealthy guy and in my opinion these are not cheap watches. They're affordable. I'm never ever going to spend over 1000 for a wrist watch.
The mini turtle is the most sort after as it is discontinued and suits small wrist like mine😊
The men's model in its King version is the only one I consider.
Dude slow down, you sound like sleepy joe reading a teleprompter.
Everyoane is keep calling the turtle srp777 and the sbdy015 (JDM turtle) a reissue ; but I think they are more like second gen turtles ; because of the improvements of the water rating and movements.
@AverageBros

Well considering how long the Turtle had been discontinued and how little the aesthetic had been updated, I feel like reissue was a natural choice. In terms of the improved water resistance and movement, that's pretty common for any modern re-creation, many reference the SLA017 and SJE093 as 62MAS reissues even though they have improved water resistance and movements.

@@AverageBros but I don't think Seiko ever said that the srp and sbdy turtles are reissues. For the rest of the turtles, yes.
