On the Polish-Ukrainian border as tens of thousands flee - BBC Newsnight

More than 500,000 refugees have fled Ukraine since Russia’s invasion, according to the UN. Newsnight reports from the Polish-Ukrainian border. Please subscribe HERE bit.ly/1rbfUog
One of the key crossings is at Przemyśl station in Poland, a few miles from the Ukrainian-Polish border.
Some have been travelling for up to a week, and many have left family behind in Ukraine.

The support from Polish people in unbelievable. Welcoming people with free food, clothes, convoy of busses transporting people for free, free accomodation. Just unbeliebable. How difficult is to find accommodation for 300k people over night. Respect you brother from Lithuania 🇱🇹 🤝🇵🇱

I'm 15 and I had to cross the border alone with my dog, my dad was waiting on other side of the border on me , and it took me two days to get there!! I really wanted to thank Ukrainian people for letting me spend the night in school and giving me food , and seeing how Polish people are helping our people was way too emotional for me and my dad , not only volunteers were so kind and made food, gave away clothes, homes to stay in... but people were also doing everything they could, suggesting to share their homes and taking you to other countries for free, it just means so much, seeing how people help each other is so beautiful and it represents how people really should be. Many many thanks to Poland for sharing their country with us and being so incredibly kind and generous, may God bless them, and may God save Ukraine. Слава Богу , слава Україні, героям слава, 💛💙

Its crazy how fear and hatered of Russia bonds all eastern europeans 😅 seriously even a week ago, just before invasion people in Poland would reap each other Apart as usuall 😂 we say that two Polish people are three different opinions. There were also some negative Ukrainian/Polish sentiments on both sides. But last thursday morning all of this just vanished.

The Ukrainian military has been killing women and children since 2014. in Ukraine, a fascist organization has been created that intimidates its own citizens. More than 14,000 civilians have already been killed since 2014. CHECK EVERYTHING YOURSELF. Russia has real evidence of the murder and genocide of the population of Ukraine by Nazi organizations created by the Government of Ukraine. It's the main reason Russia invaded besides Ukraine threatening to join NATO. If you're not okay with Russia having military bases and ballistic missiles pointed at us in Canada and Mexico, then you shouldn't be okay with the US and NATO having their missiles and bases surrounding the Russian border. Im literally crying this is not how human should live. In this world the happiness feeling is literally when you can live happily in freedom. But how could you happy if you have to run away from your own country? Their freedom has even been taken away from their own country. Its sickening. God, please help this people.

Glory to the Ukrainian people for their courage, courage and fighting spirit. And big thanks to the Polish Nation and Great Britain, which were the first to provide immediate military aid, and to the Polish Nation also for humanitarian aid for Ukrainian mothers and children. Western nations, no time to go back and wait !!! Remember the words, the prophetic words: Words by Winston Churchill at the Munich Conference in 1938. "Our government had a choice to choose war or dishonor, it chose dishonor". But he did not avoid World War II in 1939.
