I'm glad Floffi snatched her baby back, and of course Bo never had had a baby fight back before. This baby was a bit older so it had enough energy to throw a tantrum when didn't get milk. Baby was like: "You wanted a baby? Here's what a baby does". I think having Layla, and Fozzi on her trail helped. Maybe the feeders helped too. Getting Bo on the ground allowed for the baby to freak out (she probably wouldn't have done it if they were high above ground), and it gave Floffi a chance to get the baby back mid-tantrum (which was distracting Bo). I'm not gonna lie...I liked seeing Bo's fear grimace. Serves her right!

There was a time Bo would not come down from trees with kidnapped infant even for food, maybe she wasn't fed as much so may she was hungry

Yes, it’s like the baby was calling Bo out as a fraud. I’ve noticed some mothers get almost embarrassed by the tantrums unless it’s during weaning season. Floffi’s baby was screaming to the entire troop “she can’t feed me, she’s not a real mother!”

I was thinking that myself. Bo usually gets them very young and weak. This one's older and the girl has got some spunk! Bo didn't seem to know what to do with a hungry, tantruming baby. Good!

@@seniorgirl67 the feeders don't come as often as they did, so maybe Bo was hungry this time. Also, Layla and Fozzi were also surrounding Bo. So it was 3 (or 4 if you count the baby), against Bo 😉

I don’t think it’s the sterilization that is Bo’s main issue. There are dozens, if not hundreds of sterilized females in the Hong Kong macaques. They are not all stealing their sibling’s offspring and refusing to return them to their mothers. If that were the case then infanticide would be the norm not an outlier issue. It would also be a regular issue as soon as a mature female passed through menopause and I only know of one confirmed case of that. Dorothy in Bossy’s troop. It’s Lowina’s troop that is highly dysfunctional. The entire troop from Lowina on down would normally be working together to enforce the hierarchy and take those babies away from Bo. This is a dominance issue.

It's not true. The whole troop wouldn't work together to get the baby back. It's something humans wish for them but would never happen. In the kidnapping situations Flöffi have acted correctly in a macaques way because she doesn't want her baby to get hurt or killed. The kidnapper knows that and that's why they often take to the trees. I think Bo got confidence to be on ground level because no rescue action happened during the feeding. Also during the feeding was a lost attempt to get the baby back when the baby took to Bo's back. Anyone could have sneaked up and snatched her from Boo but no one did and that's also a sign of that a troop wouldn't work together to get a baby back from a kidnapper. Had the kidnapper been a monkey from another troop then perhaps and had the kidnapper been AM absolutely. He would have had to visit the ER. It was also the baby that helped her mum to get her back. Bo couldn't handle the baby suckling and the tantrum was another layer to it. 🤓🇸🇪

❤​@ML_SE I agree. The baby suckling and tantruming was more than Bo was counting on. Has Floffi's baby got a name yet? If not, may I suggest Ferocity? She was aggressively chewing on Bo's un used to suckling baby nipples which she wasn't happy about. Then the screaming tantrum to set Bo on edge and then Floffi finally getting the gumption to snatch her daughter back. Maybe Floffi has finally learned. Anyway I think Ferocity or Fiercely would be an appropriate name for her baby.

@@elibell19 Yes. That may be it. They are used to deferring to her from when they were babies. And if Lowina allowed Bo to babysit for her then Bo, as a child of an Alpha, would be used to deferring to mom's authority. Typically in the Alpha's family the youngest female of the Alpha females children is the highest ranking. And the rank progressively lowers to the youngest as the mom keeps having babies. Or if she no longer is capable of birthing babies the ranking, high to low, goes from the youngest female child to the oldest. So traditionally Bo would be the lowest ranking of all of Lowina's female children as she is the oldest female child (that I know of).

Good evening Monkey Hill family & friends! Glad to see that Floffi finally found the courage to rescue her baby from Bo. Bo showed fear when Floffi grabbed her baby back. It was great to see Floffi kept shadowing Bo, just waiting for the right moment. This baby of Floffi's is very feisty, that's a good thing. AM..every time I see No steel Floffi babies, especially this one, my heart stops beating and I can't breathe. Someone has got to help.Floff's.get her back. I can hardly breathe right now because I'm so very scared. How. Many babies has Floffi lost since she became a first time mom? Has she any offspring at all? Please someone help get that baby back. Baby was angry there was no milk. She rebelled against the fake mom. Floffi stepping in to get her brave daughter. Bo was outnumbered. Yay!

That baby looks pale and dehydrated. Bo has had her for at least a day. I’m happy we were able to witness this but I’m still afraid for Floffi and baby. She’s a gentle loving Mom, sometimes too gentle. Perhaps this feisty baby will help her become a bit tougher. I wish the Matriarchy had instincts to step in and stop Bo.

Bo is more than just a wannabe mother looking for a child. These animals are smart and understand death. They grieve, they have compassion too. Bo is aware that the babies need their mothers, she’s killed enough of them and watched them slowly starve to death. Bo is aware when she looks at the mother’s fearful faces.

I think that Lowina's handing off the leadership of the troop to Fozzi has made Bo much more submissive since she knows she can't get away with holding on to the babies as often as she has in the past. This change in behavior has given Floffi more courage to stand up to her sister. What also surprises me is Layla being so young and having the cognizance to understand that Bo isn't supposed to be holding onto her baby cousin.

I just hope Bo never gets the chance to get the baby again and we don't have to worry if Floffi will take her back

I think another factor that plays a part in this is that Lowina has gradually been giving Fozzi the reigns of leadership. Now that Fozzi is basically Matriarch, Bo is less inclined to fight back attempts at getting the baby back, and it has given Floffi the confidence to know that her baby won't be hurt if she tries to forcefully take her back.

Oh no not again. Please don't let this baby die at the hands of Bo. Floffi is going to need a strong reliance to help her keep Bo away from her baby. I think since Bo raised her she may feel she has the right , idk but its terrible for the baby and the troop. This troop needs every baby

Ok finally! I was getting upset with floffi! I credit the baby more than floffi for getting released. She was really annoying Bo. Bo seamed happy to be rid of her. Bo's grimace was a good sign she is respecting the hierarchy of Floffi. It does appear Bos beating by Lowina Fozzi and Floffi last year was in response to her killing those babies.

I found the beating episode but I dont think it helped considering what just happened. I agree with you though, the baby had everything to do with getting released. Not Floffi or some are even saying Desirey made a difference, no, it was 100% the baby causing discomfort and throwing a fit. That little thing deserves all the credit.

Yea! Floffi and her baby did it. Baby trying to suckle Bo, then throwing an almighty tantrum in tandem with Floffi saying enough is enough did it! Well done both of you. Thank God it all worked out. Bo wanted the cuddles without the feeding😅...

Babies don't usually nurse off of kidnappers they will just cry for their mom's. That is why Bo was upset when this baby tried to nurse off her then she never had to experience a baby throwing a tantrum. That set the right circomstance for Floffi to grab her baby back. Good for Floffi for not giving up, staying patient and getting her baby back.

Let's hope this is a turning point. Stay strong, Floffi and your scrappy baby! It is a shame they had to screw up poor Bo.

So many events came together here: Feeders being there (Bo wanted another orange), baby trying to suckle and throwing a fit., Bo's one hand being occupied with orange peel., mum Floffi being right there., Mr AM being there (maybe he would snatch baby)? Wonderful set of circumstances to help baby! Bo's face at the end said it all😮

Layla cares for that baby. I think this babies feistiness paired with Layla being annoying and Floffi gaining some courage and confidence, this ended with a happy note.

Their ways are not our ways. Humans have interfered too much already & should not interfere further. Bo doesn't do it just bc she was sterilized. She does it bc she babysat Floffi, & Floffi is ok with Bo babysitting her infants bc of that. Neither one of them have the faculties to understand that extended babysitting turned kidnapping results in death. They are not human.

Wow, that baby is SMART as hell! Essentially rescued herself. Was throwing tantrums and even biting her the whole way. Then, at the end, basically was like "you wanna carry me around like you're my mom? Well Imma latch on like you are and scream when you deny me milk say hello to the reality of motherhood" 🤣 Officially my favorite baby since Teeny!

Congrats Floffi, u save ur baby. AM, it's really sad, one macaque from the car park troop is facing a situation similar to Bo's. She has kidnapped a lil boy baby. I spotted her last Friday and initially thought she had just given birth because the baby appeared reddy. However, I noticed another mother who had lost her baby sitting near that macaque. On Saturday, I noticed a peculiar behavior from a little baby that caught my attention. The baby was lying on the ground with a distracted gaze and flushed skin. To my shock, his mother had a tattoo?! This made me suspect that he was the kidnapped baby, and indeed, his real mother was present as well. Yesterday (Sunday), I bump into them again. The baby boy is still being held captive and appears even weaker than before. He seems depressed and experiences frequent tremors. He grabbed my finger and directed it towards his tiny mouth when the auntie was distracted by goodies. I discovered that the little one has teeth, so I gently placed two soaked soybeans in his mouth, but he was unable to chew them. We poured goat milk on the floor, hoping he could sip some. Unfortunately, his auntie rushed to grab him and ran away. The baby was only able to sip for 1-2 second. Afterward, I spotted them from the trees and witnessed the little one desperately searching for a milk source from his auntie. He had a depressed and hopeless gaze, which was heartbreaking to see. The little one even made faint cries for help, but they were not very loud. His biological mother would occasionally sit nearby to have a look on him, but she took no action to retrieve the baby. The auntie would constantly grab his hand or leg, making it impossible for me to successfully feed him goat milk in the end. It's truly, truly sad and heart-wrenching. I encountered this auntie last year when she already had the tattoo and a very frail baby. At the time, I didn't realize that she had kidnapped that baby. I simply wondered if there had been a failed sterilization, allowing her to give birth in such a weakened physical condition. It's truly a terribly sad story.

Oh WOW I finally able to see the end of this video. I'm so VERY, VERY, PROUD of u floffi. I couldn't finish the viedo yesterday because of being sick and in the hospital..After I watched what I could yesterday I was really, really scared that Floffi was going to loose another baby. I would have been heartbroken. Than u Lord for not doing that to Floffi again

she's more of a figurehead than in full charge. it should be Fozzi who's the youngest, i just don't get why she hasn't now that Löwina has stepped back.

Bo will probably kill this one too. With this one how many has she killed now. And Lowinas troop is dying because, well the troop is small and there are too many breeding age females that have been spayed and now most of the breeding age females that are able and successfully birth... Bo kills them. If I'm remembering correctly Bo has killed all of both of her sisters babies except one? I think that Bo knows that having the baby isn't something that the baby's mom wants. She will take the baby into the trees to make it harder for the mom to get close enough to grab the baby back. It makes the grab riskier. She will also, keeping hold of the baby, approach the mom and groom her some. Then walk away with the kidnapped baby. Bo's kind of a bully and a d***. I get that Bo is desirous of a baby of her own. I get that Bo is high ranking within her mothers small troop. But are the other high ranking female(s) in the troop incapable of understanding that every baby Bo gets hold of DIES?

I think Bo has killed 4 babies.

OK, round 1 of the 4th bout (boxing, for those whose aggressive instincts are not like my own) to Flöffi. But the referee (the baby) called a foul on Bo. (When/if the kid gets older, god help the person who gets between her a her food.) But let's see what happens in the coming months ... and coming babies.

The feeders should fill both her hands with food to distract bo.

I get so much axiety with Lowena's troupe. BO!!! I dread when she's around. Flooffi needs so be more assertive with her baby. I love you AM, your videos are wonderful Thank you for your hard work and trails to teach us Bo is a serial kidnapper. And if she don't get her baby, death would be eminent.

What pisses me off is Floffi will bite a low-born for taking a piece of fruit out of turn, but allow her baby to be held against her will. Her sister is offering to go to war-even Layla is ready to help, but Floffi wants goodies more than her baby.

Good for Floffi. Odd that the baby goes berserk but doesn’t let go and head towards mom. Just hops around on Bo. If the baby hadn’t flipped out, Bo might still be holding a corpse when you next visited.

4:30 it seems to me the group was trying to tempt Bo to join them in the grooming session since the branch she was on would not accomodate all of them. The goal might have been to get Bo on a branch that all of them could surround Bo on safely.

I am glad I keep watching.

They need to move Bo to another part of the forest. She can not keep her hands off the babies. Maybe another troop will not let her het away with it.

Why is Floffi keep being so careless? When will she learn to stay away from BO? Not to mention thant while her baby is suffering, she is more interested in stuffing her face with food.

If Bo gets her baby again, I blame Floffi. This should be a reminder of what happens

For a while, I thought AM was being over dramatic about Bo getting ready to snatch a baby. And it happened. Has Bo taken a non-relative baby?? Does she think she ranks above her sisters & therefore has a right to take her niece’s?? The sisters need to kick Bo’s butt once & for all.

Well, I hope Bo loses interest. Floffi needs this baby to live.

Praise the Lords (pick your choice)! I was almost in tears as Flöffi took her beautiful and Feisty little one back! Equally lovely was the fear face of Bo 😁 Hmm, didn't see Löwina anywhere!? Is she still alive and kicking!? I remember a scene filmed at Gibraltar where one of the Barbary macaques had kidnapped a baby, the mother and the family gathered in a grooming party instead of chasing the kidnapper (also the situation was high, high up on a construction) i.e. very dangerous. Anyways, the social out-casting the kidnapper felt, not being in that social group, made her come back over to the group and give the baby back to the mother! I found it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKKfpMNse9WfhqQ.html So, maybe the sisters were trying that tactic with Bo!? @Mr AM - I was thinking, if you could bring the most monkey-like stuffed animal and put it near Bo, if she would maybe accept that as a substitute? I think however it cannot smell 'new' of factory chemicals etc, probably has to be washed and left outside a period of time! 🇸🇪

Do they ever kick females out of the troop? Or just the males?
