Dare MedFlight Pilot Andy Reed, a U.S. Army veteran and Dare County EMS employee for the last five years, talks about the challenges faced in flight and what makes Dare County a great place to live and work.
Dare MedFlight is one of the few county-owned aeromedical operations in the nation. With a dedicated staff of five pilots, two mechanics, and 12 flight paramedics, the service drastically reduces transport times for patients needing rapid transfer for time-sensitive medical interventions at hospitals outside of Dare County providing trauma, heart attack, stroke, burn and other critical care services.
