On the Issues: Attorney Dean Strang

September 12th, 2016
If you watched the blockbuster Netflix series, Making a Murderer, you’re familiar with Dean Strang. Strang served as co-counsel for Steven Avery, the Manitowoc County man who was charged with the 2005 murder of freelance photographer Teresa Halbach. Making a Murderer made the Avery case a subject of national debate, and it made the mild-mannered Strang a celebrity. Until the Netflix series, Strang was perhaps best known for his work with the Milwaukee law firm, Shellow, Shellow & Glynn. He also served as the first federal defender in Wisconsin. But the interest in Making a Murderer has given Strang a new opportunity to talk about the state of the nation’s criminal justice system. Join us for a conversation about both the Avery case and justice in America when attorney Dean Strang visits Eckstein Hall.
