Nice one Dylan.... Sometimes just the one decent fish can make the session.... Love the small eyes 😊

Totally agree mate, it's why we go. That rod could go at any time, it's a great feeling when it does go, it could be anything. I think I've had more smalleyed rays than the others. Managed a nice double undulate in my last comp, that was a great feeling👍👍🎣🎣🙏
Hi Dylan ... Congrats on your comp results ... A Corona and Teguila celebration far outweighs the Frugal Outdoors mantra ... But I suppose it was done indoors, so that doesn't count 😂😂🎉 ... Last knockings provided you with a lovely small eyed ray ... well done on another very watchable video ... John 👍👍👏

Thanks Dylan, nice last cast ray well done, next time your out on that venue you should try for a turbot, they love flat sandy beaches, try a 3 hook flapper with a red 15 mm floating bead on bottom hook, sizes 1 or 1/0 hooks with rag worm and a good strip of mackerel, fish about 30 yards with small plain lead and move it a couple of turns every now and then and hopefully you’ll get your fish.

Thanks buddy, yeah my mate had one that evening, would be great to catch one. I think it holds place and sole as well, but I always go with fish baits for the rays. Maybe next time, I'll just go with rag etc, and focus on the flatties👍👍🎣🎣

Well done on winning the match last week Dylan, some nice Bream you had there! This was a nice session too, I've not seen Scad caught on bait before, I've only had them on lures but I suppose if they're about they will take the bait too, just like Mackerel will. Nice bit of last cast magic with the Ray, can't fault it. Great watch as always bud, see you on the next one! 👍👍

@@FrugalOutdoors Yeah, we’re happy for you too Dylan.
What a fish to finish off, never caught one myself but catch plenty of flatfish, whiting, dogfish and bass here on the Kent coast. Love the Isle of Wight and had some wonderful holidays there when the kids were young. Sadly not allowed to go fishing though! I think you can eat scad. We have a local fish and chip shop that sells scad and chips very cheaply. Great video Dylan, best wishes Dave, broadstairs Kent.

Ok, bream wrasse etc are far easier because you know they are there, but rays and alike is different I think. You're spot on mate, we are super lucky. We have plenty of easy access venues, but with a little effort, we have some stunning places to fish, tightlines mate👍👍🎣🎣

@@FrugalOutdoors You’re weird 😂😂😂🎣🐟
Hi Dylan, I'm a new subscriber working my way through your videos. Beautiful ray, great to see & your enthusiasm is infectious. What is it that makes your rod tips reflective - tape or paint & why do you use that method in preference to a tip light? Keep up the good work, tight lines.
@FrugalOutdoors
10 ай бұрын
Ace buddy, thank you, it's massively appreciated. I use Gemini tip tape, it's the white/silver one. It's super bright. I mainly use it with a torch as it shows up better on camera. I try to get the bite on film. I run the camera the entire session to hopefully show the bite as well as the catch. 🙏🙏🎣
Great video as always Dylan & keep up the good work. If you want a good flat fish you really need rag worm mate. Where you are fishing is known for throwing up some really big Soles at this time of the year. A cast of 20yds beyond the surf line & you could be rewarded with a big-un. Also how did you get on with the Century TTSM rod? As I own 2 Century’s & absolutely love them.
@FrugalOutdoors
10 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, yeah I should just go out and just target a flat fish one night. The lure of going for something bigger always takes over. I ended up selling the century. Compared to the daiwa, I found it to be quite heavy in weight, and I think with my untrained cast I was struggling to compress it to get any good distance. The daiwas I'm using I find quite easy👍👍🎣
Well done mate really pleased for you, lovley small eye to end the session, have fished there once or twice, can I ask do you park in the main carpark at Yarverland or are you aloud to park in the caravan site near the footpath, many thanks Dylan really enjoyed watching your journey over the last couple of years mate awesome show 👍 take care buddy
