In this video I take you on the ferry from Bali to Lombok along with my motorbike, once arrived I’ll drive along the coastline towards the south-west of the island. Once arrived on ‘Pantai Kores’ I jump on a small speedboat, a ‘Jukung’ to the island Gili Asahan.
I made this video during the Pandemic. In ‘normal’ times the boats are more crowded than they are now. International travel is not existing, only domestic travel is possible, but you need to have a proof of a negative covid-19 test.
The ferry depart from Padang Bai in Bali and arrives in Lembar, Lombok. The ride usually takes around 4 to 5 hours, sometimes even longer, depending on the weather, the currents and waves, but also the traffic in the Harbor.
There is a ferry on every hour of the day, they have time schedules, but it’s always a wild guess when exactly they leave, depending on the unloading and loading.
If you bring a car or motorbike on the ferry, always make sure to bring the registration of your vehicle and a valid international driver’s licence. There is a police checkpoint in the Harbor.
On the ferry you have the choice of just take a seat somewhere or pay a bit extra for a mattress or in some ferries you can even rent an aircon cooled cabin, sometimes they even offer you a crew cabin.
On the way to Pantai Kores (Kores beach) I drive for about one hour along the coastline of Lombok, with a view on the green flora and paddy fields.
Once arrived on the meeting point at the beach, I hand over my motorbike to someone that will store it at his house during my stay on Gili Asahan.
I jump on a small jukung from the resort that brings me on a ten minute drive to the island.
