@@ikuas3881 I understand your argument. But I think the kind of jokes Shane made and the attitudes he took were wrong even 10 years ago. Joking about pedophilia will never be okay, he was 20 years old, he should have known better. I believe he may have changed, but at this moment I don't trust, and don't fell confortable watching his content anymore. I really, really hope he's not the same person he used to be.

@@ikuas3881 While I do agree with your point that the internet was different and *all* for dark humor, actual dark humor addresses on lighter topics and don't involve explicit detail, just a short burst of realization and "oh". I wish the apology could have been better, for example I'd like to see him tell the audience how he had changed as a person and what he will do in the future to ensure this doesn't happen again, that's all. It's also important to note that while his jokes were meant to be taken "lightly" and he didn't actually do it, there's an actual video of him "motoring" on his dog's private parts which implies that at least *something* happened. Also that some of his jokes were offensive *even* back then and people did actually call him out for it (otherwise, why would he take the videos down?) I'm all for redemption and I think cancel culture is extremely toxic, but unfortunately I would indeed agree to it if the person has seemingly not learned from his mistakes. I'm unsure about Shane yet but I'm hoping to wait it out and see him improve, I'd rather his apology didn't mention a traumatic history as a reason for why he did it because that seems to be brushing off his actions and using mental illness as an excuse or a means of justifying it, it would have been better if this was not mentioned and he got straight into the apology.

Glad you did this video and addressed Cancel Culture! I believe internet outrage and mob mentality is one of the biggest issues on social media and KZread... “please be forgiving and realize people change”. It’s a very important lesson. I’ve known people personally who have been to jail or done TRULY bad things and instead of being completely thrown away I’m glad they got a second chance. Many of them today work good jobs or have even become job creators and given people opportunities. Cancel Culture needs to be cancelled.

This did not age well. With the good guy stuff....

Funny thing is that he absolutely deserves to be cancelled. This wasn't edgy humor this was and is consistent terrible behavior. I don't believe in cancel culture in the context that this person is talking about but for Shane and Jeffree they have a countless and consistent instances of toxic, negative, irresponsible and irredeemable actions. Period, there is no defending them there is no excusing them. There is no reasoning or rationalizing behind what they did and continue to do. This whole "growth and reinvention" of his image is just that, an image a fascade a calculated change not because of wanting to better ones self but because of what every KZreadr whose views begin to drop they change their content to keep up with the trends and times. And as harmful as cancel culture can be it is just as harmful when people choose to.overlook bad behavior and fail to see the patterns behind what a person does and as are just as quick to forgive and put their pitchforks away once the drama dies down. Logan Paul has "reievented" himself that doesn't mean that the person who did all those Terri things before is automatically gone. Shane is not a good guy, edgy humor is not an excuse for the things he did and said, he knew they were wrong to do and say at they time but did them anyways, that was a constant and consistent choice he made. This wasn't an act he put on for the cameras he did these things on podcast, videos, Twitter, Instagram, etc. This was him, this was and is who he is as a person and he deserved to lose everything because just saying it was edgy at the time is not a good excuse. If your first thought is to lean on child porn and animal abuse as content so that you can PROFIT from it is a problem all in itself and that speaks to your character more than anything else.

I honestly wouldn't consider that edgy humor, or maybe that's just me. When I use dark humor with my friends it's a short burst on a taboo topic and a realization of "oh", for example "I was going to tell my friend that I found gold in the backyard but then I remembered why I was digging." It's very vague for a reason because the joke is left up to audience interpretation and the dark humor part comes in when one of those interpretations are extremely dark due to the vagueness of the statement. This "black comedy" differs very much from "blue comedy" which deals with MUCH more serious topics (and for the most part blue comedy is considered gross indecency). Shane was using blue comedy, but I wouldn't say it was in a very good manner unfortunately. The way he talked with explicit detail and acted like the statements he made were very much true (and the fact that there's a video of him motoring on his dog's private parts does not help his case further) made the jokes seem more like confessions, I guess I just don't know how people can laugh and interpret that as a joke even in the edgy times KZread was in. To be fair I wasn't a big part of the edgy KZread so I guess I don't know what I would laugh at, but I'm assuming *some* people didn't enjoy the jokes at the time for him to work extremely hard to hide them after the fact.

well that was gay - I am a blank slate in regards to this guy. I’ve never seen or heard any of his content until this story popped up. I have no bias. I listened to the audio in more context than was given in this video, and there was absolutely no cadence of a joke throughout. Everything about this situation, his responses as well as another couple clips I saw of him leads me to believe this guy ejaculated on his cat. I make absurd jokes often, but I never implant horrible stories like this without saying “hey, I was joking” or somehow some way make it clear that I was joking. Maybe I am missing something. I believe but do not know for sure that he did it. I find that horrendously bizarre but like I said, I do not know about this guy and I really don’t care about him at all.

I think that big names like Shane have a lot of people in the wings secretly (and occasionally not so secretly) waiting for him to fail, whether it’s out of jealousy or just not liking the content and not understanding why everyone else raves about it. So when stories like this get drudged up, it’s those people who jump on it and blow it up. I actually thought that this was a good example of just how many people will stick up for a good person. I don’t think this was Shane’s fans turning on him; it was people who probably already didn’t love Shane trying to get them to.

The more someone gets bigger in their platform the more and more affected the world becomes , no one should exploit this advantage and throw their toxicity in the internet and not expect to be punished.
