In this premiere episode of Taste Buds, On My Block's Jason Genao ("Ruby") returns to his hometown roots of Jersey City, New Jersey to share his family's Dominican culture and cuisine with co-star and friend Brett Gray ("Jamal"). The duo are joined by Jason's Mom and Tia (Aunt) who cook up three delicious dishes: Sancocho, Locrio de Longaniza and Flan. Plus, the Freeridge BFFs discuss life after On My Block, what they cooked for each other as former roommates, who Jason's Tia's favorite character really was, and Brett sings a preview of his latest R&B bop.
Taste Buds is a digital food series where Netflix talent introduce a friend or co-star to their cultural cuisine while discussing the family history, memories and impact their favorite dishes had on them as a kid through to adulthood.

As a Dominican 🇩🇴, I'm so happy our food got represented here so well. Not many know how good it can be, and although we aren't known for a lot of sweets. We do make some bomb flan ❤

@@SunnyExMusic obviously!! Can’t get brazilian food at taco bell either. Taco bell only serve mexican food, I’m talking Latin food in general! The problem is that in the US most people resume latin food to mexican food just because is the most known there. But is so much more than that.

@@SunnyExMusic I’m not saying haitian food is not good! Idk if you know brazilian food, but is very similar to haitian/caribbean food. That’s what I’m saying. And I consider Haiti and the Caribbean, Latin countries too, just because we don’t speak spanish doesn’t mean we aren’t Latin countries.
