Thing is, Jeff Francoeur is probably the single nicest baseball player I have ever got to see play. The only player I know of to have his own fan section in opposing stadiums and he would buy all of them t-shirts, food, and autograph baseballs. A true class act.

The long prank is probably one of the hardest things to accomplish!!! Great job El Paso Team!!! This definitely will go down as one of the greatest pranks of ALL TIME!!! Also, it's my favorite kind of prank where nobody gets hurt...

This makes me want to go to El Paso games now and support this team. The fact that they kept this up, evening during games, is outstanding.

Am I missing something? Every player on the team presented Reyes as deaf when he joined the team. They all stayed with the joke through games and team events. I’m not sure why he’s an idiot for being tricked. Why would anyone suspect that this situation isn’t what it seems. Especially since he just joined the team. And he has a good sense of humor.

Baseball has a looooooooooooooooooooooooooong season. Sometimes you gotta play the long game with team morale.

Frenchy is the man. Glad to have ya back in ATL home clubhouse.

Why would Francouer even question it? I think a lot of guys, no matter how smart or skeptical of a person they are, would believe it because it's not something that is normally joked about.

Just because of the absurdity of some of the things. Like the catcher covering his mouth. Or not realizing that nobody ever did sign language to him. Just basic things that should tip someone off especially after being with them for a month

The chemistry on this team makes me want to go travel and meet these players. They've hit the most homeruns in triple-A so far. Doing work and having fun with it as well

Jeff, class act, good sport... and amazing arm! Even pitched a few games and did well for the Padre's AAA team this last month.

I give it a 9. They should have ended it by having Jorge fall down during practice when Jeff was not looking and making believe Jorge was hit by a batted ball. The trainer and all the players would run over to him and after a few minutes Jorge would yell out "I can hear !! It's a miracle" That would have made it a 10. Make it an 11 if it was on video.

Minor league teams have hilarious names sometimes lol I have a hat of a team from Montgomery Alabama that's literally called the Biscuits based off of a buttered biscuit whose logo is a walking talking biscuit with arms and legs and eyes and a mouth from where the biscuit was cut in half and a butter tongue

When I was a teenager, my cousin and I convinced the neighbor that my cousin had a twin. She would pretend that her other sister was always somewhere else and that they were rarely both at my house together. The neighbor believed us for like two years, even thinking she talked to both twins in the same day on multiple occasions. I didn't think anyone could be that gullible.

It was a pretty elaborate prank and that’s why I wouldn’t say frenchy is an idiot. He’s new to the team and everybody tells him Reyes is deaf. The joke is maintained on the field, waitresses are bribed and even reyes’ wife is in on it. Even if Reyes gave him clues, why would he not believe this. I don’t come away convinced he’s an idiot, even if he is. But he does come off as a good sport. My question is why Frenchy. If this is just what they do to everybody, great.

Minor League baseball is known for silly names. In fact, a lot are done on purpose. Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, Toledo Mudhens, Montgomery Biscuits, Richmond Flying Squirrels, Modesto Nuts, Lansing Lugnuts, and the list goes on and on.
