ON-ICE RECOVERY & HAND PROJECTION | How To Hockey Goalie Tips & Drills

Спорт

These are clips from a semi-private lesson with high school goalguard Blake. The focus this lesson was on ice recovery, hand projection, and learning how to control his slides to stay within the paint and between the pipes. The drills we used this lesson are really pliable and adjustable to whatever skills you're working on with your goaltender. Also worked on some new ways of integrating the bounce pads into drills!

Thank you for making those videos. I'm learning lots. I'm a 60 years old beer leaguer who has been out of the net for 30+ years and making a comeback. In my time, it was all stand up and trying to learn the butterfly style. In your drill on the puck rebounder in front of the goalie, shouldn't the goalie go down to cover the bottom portion of the net in case of a deflection? Then quickly go back up and get set for the upcoming shot. My biggest challenge I find is recovery back to be square to the puck. Keep up the great work!

@@paulbrown7375 Thank you for watching! Ideally, yes the goalie would drop for in tight plays. In this drill, we wanted Blake to hold his feet and work on small movements, so the rebounder was more of a prop than a game situation. Glad to hear you're making a comeback to the position!
