I never had an On shoe before, but this one looks nice. I love the purple colorway, which the only other shoe I seen with that colorway was the RC Elite 2. I think I might pick up this shoe and give On a try in my rotation. Great review as always guys, keep up the good work.

I own three pairs of On. I use them as combo gym/casual shoes. They're very firm (which is more than okay for the gym) and they look fantastic (something most shoe companies can only dream of accomplishing). I tried on a pair of Cloudmonster awhile back and I was really surprised. They're easily the most unique feeling shoe of any On model that I've tried. On each step, you can feel each, individual "cloud pod" compress and then decompress. It's a very unique feeling shoe. It's the first On shoe I'd recommend for actual running.

And wich one for the gym? i want to have 1 pair for each cause on don't want to bring the dust and craps from the outside inside the gym.. Actually look for the cloud monster for running and the ultraboost for gym but what's the ON you using for gym i'm very curious

@@nosfreeqcFrom my experience the Cloud X could be a good gym shoe. Light, airy, direct, fairly durable, but pretty low cushioning. The low cushioning was no problem for me (wore it daily), but I just shred through achilles/heel pads for some reason, and if there's less material it will wear out faster. That happens to me with all shoes though, not ON specific

Only area for improvement I would say is lacing and the front of the foot opening digging to my arch just a bit. That aside, solid daily trainer! It really shines in grass runs where other shoes feel squishy. Not a super fast shoe, but stable, and comfortable enough for long runs for sure!! Almost seems like a road shoe with trail-ish characteristics.

Meg’s pair has magically disappeared. She got one run in them before they vanished. We have never lost a pair of shoes before. She liked the one run though.

The speedboard is not directly underneath the insole in this shoe. If you look at it it’s a little soft underneath, whereas usually it’s just directly sitting on the speedboard. I think that helps a lot in this shoe.

This shoe has been such a great purchase for me, i wasnt sure at first. But i have come to love it, it quickly became my main go to. I think i prefer the soft firmness over some other companies that completely trade in balance for that cushiony feeling.

True to size, not as soft as the Nimbus in the heel, similar in the forefoot. More of a roll though, for sure.

The invincible wasn’t stable enough for us. This has a well cushioned ride that you don’t have to fight.

Bc if this review I bought these, my new favorite go to, especially for a heavy runner like me. Legs don't feel depleted. I have 3 other ons but this is legit.

Are these good for someone with plantar fasciitis? Bad ankles?

How do these compare to the cloudstratus?

For me, it's extremely hard for the Monster's shoes to remain tied, even when double tied. Other than that, they're fine.

Do you feel the collar is too high? It rubs against my ankle all the time, I'm 5'8.

Stack height which I obtained indirectly but came from ON is 30 in the heel and 24 in the forefoot. I plan to use it for my slow long runs, for which I haven’t really had a proper shoe. For me the shoe felt very roomy in the toebox, and I have an average volume foot so people just need to try it on. I was also concerned about lockdown because it felt so comfortable (in a not-snug way) at step-in, but during my first run I only had to tighten the laces once and I had no movement or hot spots so far. I find it is very stable, which you guys didn’t mention. I’ll be doing more miles in it this weekend……Martha PS. The shoe does make me want to run fast but I don’t want to make the mistake Thomas made and use it as a tempo or race shoe 😏However, it’s definitely capable of fun at fast paces so people need to figure out use cases for themselves

Honestly, you could de-rail a train with the Boston 10. And whilst I'm here, I could rebuild Stonehenge with the amount of shit the Bondi X has picked up!

I bought the Cloudmonster at the beginning of June at my local running shop. At first I didn’t like the appearance that much but it was super comfy and felt like a really good shoe to have in the rotation. But after my first runs I enjoyed it so much that I was wearing it for most of my runs - they do really make a lot of fun! Unfortunately knee-pain starting to creep in after 1 1/2 months of use and I didn't know where it came from at first. I paused running for a bit, tried out more stretching, different warm-up routines etc. but it kept coming back (especially after running in the Monsters). A few weeks ago I stopped wearing them completely and my knees feel so much better again. I also feel that the forefoot Cloud-Pods are worn out unevenly (I'm 195cm tall, weighing 90kg) Strava says I've made around 300km in them. It's really sad… I loved the shoe but the short life span and knee problems is something that I saw in a few other comments here and on Instagram. I guess experience differs, so take this with a grain of salt.

i run in these and the novablast 2's. novablast 2 was softer but these are bouncy and springy for me. Never tried on shoes before and I wasn't a fan of the design (seems gimmicky) but when i got fitted for some shoes these felt great and were the only ones that didnt give me any heel slip. Recommend going and trying them on before you buy though because the feel of this shoe is definitely unique.

That is exactly how i use them.. didn’t realize i bought a more cushy shoe for actual running. If i compare them to my NB, Asics, Brooks or Hokas.. On has to work very hard.

I think it's unfair to say that On doesn't take the running shoe industry seriously. They have one of the best brand-affiliated track teams in the world right now, all of whom... run in On shoes that have existed before the CloudMonster. Hard to say that On doesn't take it seriously when some of the world's best run in them...

I agree their design isn’t for gravelly situations but they have modified the design and the only place now that something could collect is the center groove, and you would have to land directly on a rather large stone for that to happen. Moreover, there are quite a few shoes of other brands now that have cutouts (to save weight) in the center which can also present the same problem.
