On Catholic Integralism: An Introduction

Also keep in mind this is primarily an educative series, meaning I obviously understand the chances of integrating modern society within the framework of a Catholic confessional state or whatever isn’t on the horizon anytime soon and to think that it is would be a comical LARP. But even that being said, sanctifying the world you live in is always something to work toward as incrementally as the times require, and this still would remain the end-goal of that endeavor.

Nice introduction, was hoping you'd delve into Catholic Social Doctrine. A video/series on Grace would be epic expounding Catholic teaching (not just addressing critique). Especially created/uncreated grace; subjective/objective redemption, causa formalis, materialis etc and the divisions of grace: - Gratia Dei (Creatoris)-Gratia Christi (Redemptoris) - Gratia Externa-Gracia Interna - Gratia Gratis Data-Gratia Gratum Faciens. - Gratia Habitualis (sanctiticans)-Gratia Actualis - Gratia illuminationis - Gracia Praeveniens - Gratia Sufficiens And the principle errors of Pelagius, The Reformers, Baius, Jansenius, Quesnel

Though I don't agree with the interpretation, I understand why some Orthodox believe in the tollhouses because, though you may have a state run by the church, do you have citizens whose hearts are run by the church? Who is to say that some of these seemingly upstanding individuals won't drop the facade the moment temptation is given? I'm excited to see more of these!

Only one contention: the implicit anthropology seems off - man's given virtues contradistinct from how they are in a social scene is a totally meaningless object of political thought because there was no pre-society from which human social orders emerged. We have always lived within social orders of some form or another - we have always had authority and sociality. Humans have never existed without partnership or without some social object of highest shared significance - some common good. However, Vitoria's argument could and should be employed against the likes of liberals and anarchists who take this state-of-nature as some intrinsic good or more fundamental mode of human social organisation. Though, these faulty anthropological assumptions don't seem to be very critical components of Integralism.

Catholic integralism sounds like rebranded Darwinistic humanism. We’re all a bunch of animals and to preserve ourselves and our species we need to form societies. I have heard this verbatim in biology and mythology classes.

I dont think these claims are controversial to any Christian or at least informed Catholic. What I think is controversial is the part in which heretics start being burned and crusades being called. I mean, if this is integralism, then all Catholics are integralist by definition. But obviously what people have in mind when they think of integralism is a sort of authoritarian government where people's conscience is not respected and faith is imposed by force. I think that is the controversial part.
