All right! Love this group. There is so much talent here. Even the harsh vocals fit. And, they just get better as you listen to more. You are on a roll today, Maria. @Why Am I Reacting: Very nice reaction. For my part, what I will say is, you have a large discography to react to. And thing is, here this next week, Unleash the Archers is releasing their newest album, Phantoma, due out May 10! That said, you mentioned Grant's harsh vocals and how they sound menacing. Then you mentioned you "wouldn't follow them," lol. I laughed at that bit because in Apex and Abyss (Awakening is track #1 in Apex), the Immortal, who is the protagonist in the story, is an immortal being who has slept for a millenia, only to have the antagonist, who is the Matriarch, wake him up. What this means is, he has to follow the Matriarch's voice, because he has no choice but to. The lyrics say the following to illustrate this: "I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me bound to them by the curse My soul exists only to serve a covenant of birth." So yes, the Immortal has to follow the Matriarch's command, since she woke him up. That said, Grant and his harsh vocals are usually present when another character is speaking in the story. And make no mistake -- Apex and Abyss, in order, from Awakening to Afterlife at the end of Abyss, is a complete story told over two albums. Which leads me to my next recommendation: Abyss, the title track of the Abyss album. Abyss, by the way, won a Juno Award, essentially a Canadian Grammy, for being Canada's 2020 Metal Album of the Year. So our beloved band is award-winning in their own country. How cool is that? And make no mistake: Despite how technical, talented, and skilled this band is, they are still down-to-earth, still humble. They are some of the best people and role models children and adults alike could ever have.

The lyrics aren't as metaphorical as you might think. It's a fantasy story told over the entire album, and this is the opening. The evil "matriarch", represented by the harsh vocals, awakens an immortal being from a thousand year slumber to do her bidding.

Unleash The Archers just released their first full album in several years and it kicks. (They were kinda sidelined by covid then Brittany and Scott the drummer had a little girl) I'll be requesting Old Skule's favorite from it, because hes generally right, lol. Thanks for the reaction. They're my favorite power metal band.

Soulbound is a song from the Abyss album that doesn’t get reacted to as much as it should. Pure power. Pure joy for me.
