    Abbi was an imaginary friend in the original Omoriboy blog. I feel she’s “the wisest” because she acted as Omori’s voice of reason, she even stopped him from committing suicide in the original blog. I suspect the reason she’s banished is because she suggested Omori/Sunny to face the truth, which goes against Omori’s entire existence.

    Regarding Aubrey and the spiked bat, yes a spiked bat is equally dangerous to a knife, but it's shown she never uses it in battle, headbutting instead. It's likely the bat is an intimidation tactic rather than an actual weapon.

  • @talkinghoorse6936

    @talkinghoorse6936

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@SophiteSomewhere Well first of all, it wouldn't make sense for Aubrey to attack someone (especially a former friend) with a weapon that could very easily kill them, she's not that kind of person. Secondly the "attack animation" you're referring to is the generic animation for all blunt attacks, sure she COULD be using the bat, but I believe she's either punching or headbutting. And lastly, I never stated my comment was confirmed information. I already stated I don't think its a mistake in the video, this is just my interpretation, which is why I used the word "likely" not "this is 100% true".

  • @SophiteSomewhere

    @SophiteSomewhere

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@talkinghoorse6936 1. That's why she still can use it without full force. And she's not totally "that kind of person" rn, cause she still not in her best state of mind. "That" AUBREY isn't even supposed to attack people in the first place. 2. Generic or not, everyone has some kind of "special" animation to their attacks. Actually, the closest thing to "generic attack" in the real world is not a swing, but a punch. And punch animation used more often for normal attacks (and for AUBREY's headbutt, for some reason). 3. You never stated, but somehow it's still shown, yeah, sure. I might've snapped a little bit, so sorry if you felt attacked or something. But I've seen this exact way of phrasing it too often. People just talking about it as if it was some kind of well-known fact and nobody would miss it anyway. Without any in-game references. I might be wrong here, of cource. But if I'm wrong, I would like at least understand where I missed something, instead of just being confused for no particular reason.

    I like how Monger explained The Mari Accident. I've always thought about how Mari would be mad at Sunny for the accident. She loved him so much, and Monger explained how Sunny's push was an emotional outburst from a 12 year old. I found fansong for Omori sung by Basil (The song is called "Something behind you" if you were wondering.) and one the key lines is "Staring and Glaring at both you and me.". I analyzed that line in my mind. I kinda realized that Basil and Sunny probably thought Mari hated them for what they had done. I find it really hard to believe that because of how much Mari loved her brother and all her friends. She would've hated to witness what happened outside of Headspace, honestly.

  • @granmastersword

    @granmastersword

    3 жыл бұрын

    Actually, I think that's the case when we talk with Mari (specifically the Mari that is colored black and white). I heard people saying that that particular Mari is her spirit, the one responsible of helping Sunny face his fears by having him learn the new skills, and who actually forgave him of the accident and just wishes that he develops the resolve to forgive himself and move forward. And Sunny and Basil thinking Mari hated them isn't too far fetched. We could interpret the jumpscare Mari as a twisted representation of her born out of Sunny's guilt and trauma, manifested by the believe that she probably hated him for killing her

    I really had no idea what Omori was, until like a month ago. I decided just for fun I would try it out, so I bought it. At the same time some conflict rose with a friend of mine and we cut off contact, so I was pretty sad at the moment. When I started playing omori, I absolutely loved it, and it became an escape from the problem with my former friend, so it became a sort of comfort for me. As someone who loves things with deeper context and really well written characters, this game is one of my favorites... besides bawling my eyes out with the final duet

    one thing i think people tend to overlook is that basil's mindset was already in a dark place as to immediately come up with the idea of staging mari's accidental killing as a suicide, as well as the implication that he knew how to accurately tie a noose prior to the incident. he must have been more troubled than he let on at the time and was possibly deliberating on taking his own life at some point before mari's death. it's no wonder that in the present he's such an anxious wreck that even talking to sunny puts him on the verge of a psychotic break, not to mention the bad endings.

Unusual Knowledge + the fact that he kills himself in most endings really points to an image of what his mental state is like, and it's not a pretty one. basil's such a fascinating character

    SPOILERS: I love how they left the "best" ending open to interpretation, since something like the truth coming to light would definately would be a huge questionable area, but every character has been developed enough for the player to have their take on what happened after it. Also: Whenever Mari (not "Mari") appears in the dream world, she uses the same color scheme as Omori/Sunny, or turns into it. Also, Hero hearing the music makes you wonder if Mari's spirit is trying to help. Not to mention when you smash the lightbulb, Omori turns towards you. Also another edit... The parallel forshadowing with Aubrey pushing Basil into the lake accidentally was perfect.

    *WARNING:* _Spoilers, long comment, read at your own risk_ I got this game the day it released: Christmas day. I didn't get too into it for the first two days of playing it sparsely, but after a certain point I got _REALLY_ hooked. I played the game all day for the next few days until I finished it, and boy it hit hard at times. This game actually made me want to look for endings on my own without looking up guides or watching someone else do it. After I got the good ending, I went back and lo and behold, I found the secret endings. And though I didn't check on Basil the first time, having Omori stab himself while the phone rang continuously behind him sure hit hard. When I checked on Basil, it had confirmed a scenario I felt dread over possibly happening as true. Overall the game certainly made me think for the next two days. I like it when games do that. I'm not an easy scare anymore, so unfortunately I couldn't really properly experience the horror aspect. However I still appreciate it and had this come out a few years earlier I would've been terrified. In all honesty, this game also hit hard for other reasons- I could relate to it. Now now, I've never had a close family member die nor have I experienced a traumatic event such as what happened with Sunny and Basil, what I related with was different. You see, for most of the memorable parts of my life, I've had social anxiety. It blows guilt WAY out of proportion for me and makes me feel horrible for even the smallest of mistakes. I've also had an overprotective mother that has made me overly cautious and all the more lonely throughout my earlier childhood. She would yell at me as punishment for mistakes I made if she got too angry, and honestly I've been realizing lately how badly it might've affected me. With all of this combined, I spent a lot of time in my room and still do, always alone. No siblings, no friends, parents would be too busy, and grandmother wouldn't want to do kid things, so I spent a lot of time alone. To keep myself occupied, I'd imagine different scenarios and daydream to the point of disassociation and play with toys to enact these fantasies. And as my collection of video games grew I also played video games a lot, often trying to make up stories in games like Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo DS on a whim. I was a very imaginative kid, I didn't need friends as long as I had video games and myself to entertain. Whenever something bad happened? I'd just bury myself further into video games and imagination and avoid the problem entirely. This backfired and caused more issues, but I kept avoiding them. When I developed social anxiety, the guilt and shame I felt for everything I did made me lose my only good friend and run away from my problems more. Social anxiety made me felt so much more guilt for how I avoided things. How does this relate to Omori? Well, the game follows a theme I didn't expect it to follow until the climax occurred: You can't run away from your issues, otherwise it'll just make things worse and worse. And even if things get bad and you feel like you can't ever confront them because you let them fester for too long, you can still face your issues and tell the truth and confront your problems. I needed this lesson, in all honesty. I'm really bad with this kind of stuff. The message hit hard for me. Overall 10/10 in terms of story for me Also I played my entire first playthrough not knowing how to equip weapons and having only the base weapons on my party in the Dreamworld. No wonder the game seemed so hard- despite the setback of having only the base weapons and accidentally getting cornered by the bears in Sweetheart's Castle, I still beat the game. My strategy of making the enemy sad and the party max angry compensated for the incredibly low damage output.

    As someone who’s recently finished Omori and has a history of attempted suicide and has had depression most of his life, this game shook me in the best way possible. It manifest/represents the guilt I felt/forced on myself. Sure I never did an act even remotely in scale to what sunny did but I can relate to the escapism and the delirium it may cause the slippery slope of confronting that guilt sadness and fear. And how those emotion make you begin to think of extreme options like suicide or self harm. I also understand Aubrey’s feeling of being abandoned by the people who they trusted to support them the most in times of tragedy due to them coping along with me. I fell into a similar trap long ago and this game goes along with Persona 4, Deltarune, and Undertale of games where I felt an attachment to characters on a level above other media along with making me cry. In short/tldr Omori is an emotional game that has revealed a lot about myself how I cope with depression and guilt and anxiety and how other people deal with similar emotions, thoughts. This game may not beat Deltarune for my favorite RPG of all time but it’s in a high 2nd and I’ll never forget it.

I've already said my feelings about this game in extensive paragraphs on other pages, so I'll refrain from doing so here. Essentially, my feelings about this game were very similar to yours, in that it resonated with me on a deeper, personal level that dismantled my very psyche more than any other game has. Sunny (somewhat unfortunately, haha) is a character who I was able to understand and relate to much more than I can remember with other characters in media. Although other characters certainly have shared similar traits with me, Sunny resonated with my core. It was a really refreshing experience, to say the least. I learned to confront the way I think about things. Thank you for using your platform to spread awareness about this game! I really hope it blows up soon. It's already gaining pretty good traction for only being out for a month.

    The thing I like most about omori would definitely be how the meaning of the game can actually change depending on your life experiences. In my case, it was powerful enough to make me realize how hurt I was about things that happened when I was little, and thought weren’t important. How much I miss people and the past, and how difficult it is to live fully knowing that happy memories will never happen again. But at the same time, it helped me to know that, after all, I am not alone, and not tackling the reality of life is the worst thing I could do, ending on me just drowning on escapism forever.

    Spoilers . . . . . . Just realizing it now, but the way the emotion wheel is represented by Kel being Happy, Aubrey being Angry, and Hero being Sad is some really clever and subtle foreshadowing to how they all coped with Mari’s death

    Oh boy. I've been so completely obsessed with this game. Watching this video and hearing someone else say that they've been thinking about it for days too definitely made me feel better :') I knew this game was gonna get personal for me from the get-go, but damn. The way Omocat handled these subjects was just... stellar. Perfect. Not only did it mirror some of my feelings perfectly, it also portrayed different ways people cope with greif in such a real way. I love this game so much, man

    Honestly, this game made me cry more than any other I've played while still managing to have some of the most charming, cute and whimsical moments of any game I've played. It goes back and forth on these very different themes and I feel like it only enhances both of them. It's an amazing game, absolutely in my top 10 of all time and not one I'll be forgetting any time soon.

    (This comment contains spoilers) (it also gets a little personal) I can kind of relate to this game, not on the trauma or phobia themes and clearly not the accidental murder. I can relate to the fantasy dream world where you're with friends you haven't talked to in years but were once really close to you, who may have even become diferent in all that time, something similar happened to me quite some time ago, where I was really close to my school friends I had known my entire life and then had to change schools for an external reason some time before middle school, I was really young and stupid and the tought of them preety much leaving my life was devastating, eventually I snapped and realized that that event led me to search escapism in my dreams about them, and that I had to move on from that "devastating" event and that I could just see them again in real life(but that was the hard part, I haven't talked to them in ages, but we're friends so it shouldn't be that hard), after that realization my dreams became again just dreams, weird or wacky scenarios in my head(where sometimes I even get writting inspiration), not a "better reality" I desired to live in.

    @@ClarkElieson Oh man, I'm glad someone mentioned Drawn To Life. I knew something felt familiar when I heard that name. And interestingly, Omori did give me quite a bit of Drawn To Life nostalgia. I was very small when I played that game and the ending left that confusing, sorrowful feeling back when I played and barely understood it. Playing Omori felt like playing that game for the first time again, ten-fold. So much fun, curiosity, songs that are stuck in my head and an unexpected ending. And interestingly, both games have a fun dream world you need to leave behind in the end in order to continue in a grimmer but important reality. Of course, both games are very different, but those are some fun parallels my mind picked up on and I think it contributed to the emotional impact I had with Omori, since Drawn To Life was one of the first games I have ever played.

    As I played THAT MOMENT, I was streaming, and I feel bad because I was overly judgmental of Sunny and Basil for coming up with something so fucked up IMO, but the more takes I hear about the end, the more I realize it truly was an accident. It was this video that helped me to fully realize that Sunny's first instinct was not to inflict harm, but rather, to run away. I have no idea why I previously thought he was dissociating and pushed her down the stairs intentionally as a way to avoid the situation, but it makes a lot more sense hearing your perspective, so ... thanks.

    I'm very grateful for you covering and loving the game 😊. Two years ago I had a friend tell me about it, and I fell absolutely in love with it. I looked over every detail I could find online, played the backer only demo that was leaked on a tumblr (and shown to me by that same friend), listened to the soundtrack almost daily, theorized on my own while speaking to other eager fans in the unofficial discord server, and viewed the trailers as frequently as I could. This game has been a part of my life almost every single day for what feels like so long, and it's delivered everything I could have wanted out of it, and has moved extremely high in my list of favorite titles. I'm glad you're giving it the love and exposure myself and others feel it deserves, and I'm so excited to see how it grows in popularity and how large the community can grow :)

    I love how much harder the symbolism hits on a second play-through. My favourite moment is when Something appears in front of the tire swing in the Vast Forest. First time through, I figured it was just a little room so the scare would catch me off-guard. Second time though, I noticed the shape of the swing...

    I just want to say that if you enjoyed Omori, I highly recommend Jimmy and the pulsating mass on steam. It is quite similar, but has a very unique story of its own, and is chocked full with so much side content that it does 1-up Omori in that regard. I won’t spoil anything more, but I will say that it has certain other dark topics in it as well.
