Yeah that is sad but what makes it better for me is that the second time you play it, it just makes so much sense and it's a completely different experience imo

The saddest part is that you can only have a Picnic with Mari once. I tried so many times to have another but I just couldn't lol

I still remember how it touched me when Sunny was daydreaming about being on an adventure with his friends again, but this time they were next to him and not just a memory. Also, Aubrey really had to train a lot for her muscles to be strong enough to wipe Kel out like that XD

I agree, it’s definitely significant, especially since it’s referenced in Final duet but as kids. Fun fact, there is a vision Sunny can have of them as kids on the swing, like in duet, and if you don’t interact with it *until* that scene, it’ll start as the kids and fade into the current.

I think it’s “do you want to have a picnic with Mari?” that really killed me. Something about games saying sad things casually in dialogue just kinda ends me.

9:12 It is interesting how Hero and Mari have the same number of letters in their name, and Hero saves you from drowning when you try to save Basil, so it's easy for the player to assume initially that Hero saved you that day instead of Mari.

@@Elson203 The thing is though... that after you do the Something fight, it _shows_ Mari diving in to save you which any player would know it's impossible. Obviously it's Hero who saves you in the present, but it should present to you a question or doubt... "Why did it show Mari? Was he having a flashback? Did she save him the first time?" Though I suppose in the moment, one could gloss over that detail, but still. I've seen like 3 dozen streamers play OMORI over the years and about half of them stopped and went "wtf? Mari?" and then it's "Oh... Hero saved us? Then what was that about Mari just now?"

It's all but confirmed that Mari's spirit is real, not just a product of Headspace, as Hero senses her presence through hearing the piano as well. Sunny nearly drowned before, hence the phobia, and Mari saved him, but the fact that Hero got there so fast and *immediately* knew exactly what happened (he just got back from uni and the others could have been anywhere in the town as far as he knew) makes me feel as if Mari was subconsciously guiding him like she does for Sunny so many times throughout the game.

what i want for the omori boss fight is Transparent RW friend portraits that serve as a way to tell something Example: When you get into the OMORI boss fight SUNNY's character portrait is normal, except there is another one next to SUNNY, because SUNNY met KEL first, KEL would be there with SUNNY, albeit his portrait is transparent. Whenever SUNNY cherishes, it moves on to the next RW friend, this time it'll be AUBREY. This would go on until you cherish for the last time and you'll have MARI next to you. TL:DR: when sunny gets to omori, he has kel with him, except hes transparent and you can only see him if you look closely, when you use "cherish", it moves on to the next friend, in this case its AUBREY, this would go on till you get to MARI.

the fact you tackle omori alone is what makes it work. sunny is the only one capable of handling omori, because omori is, well, him.

Sunny standing up to Omori is kinda the whole point of the game. Omori is both a defensive mechanism, and the collection of everything bad that bubbles inside of Sunny's soul. Sunny has spent his whole life just caving into everybody's whims at the cost of himself, and dumping all the bad junk he doesn't want to deal with on Omori to the point Omori becomes more powerful and is taking over. Sunny standing up and reminding Omori who is really in control here, is kinda the whole point of the Sunny Route. Sunny has to stand up and speak for himself, and he will never get better until he does. This wouldn't work if Sunny once again relied upon his friends to do everything for him as he had done in the past. The Sunny vs Omori fight is Sunny finally, FINALLY standing up on his own, and taking his fate into his own hands, and taking control over his own life.

Everyone said what I wanted to say, but I'd like to add that Sunny was terrified of what everyone would think when he tells them the truth... and so it's up to him to figure out his own trauma instead of relying on everyone else. In fact, that's kind of what he's been doing, relying on Hero and especially Kel since he went outside. It's time to use the strength they gave him to fight his own battle.

at the hideout spot during memory lane, you can see that all the pinwheels are close to each other compared to a couple years later.

Over the course of the game, you're conditioned to feel the picnic blanket is basically the most secure and relieving place on Earth, something you can rely on to break tension and let your guard down to enjoy a cute, and addicting jingle, right next to everything Sunny loves. By the time you've reach the last day, when every negative thing in Sunny's life crashes down on you once more, anybody would want a safe place. And, by now, you've associated the picnic as something good, something you desire when things get rough. That's Sunny's biggest desire, his biggest dream (wink wink), that safety, that relief, a picnic with his best friends, and his sister. And, he gets it. While admittedly, it's not enough, it's not the same, Sunny is still getting something he wanted for a handful of years, now. A real picnic with Mari, again, with most of his best friends. It may not be the thing that heals his inner turmoil. But, without a doubt, it's definitely the happiest he's felt in forever.

About pinwheels, don't forget about two pinwheels in Sunny's backyard.

Another funny easter egg in hobbeez, If you and the group read the book for long enough and watch kel get thrown across the room you can actually see aubrey looking at sunny and sunny looking back at her. Its almost like she still has feelings for sunny

This game is so masterfully done. There's very little I would want to change. Brought me to tears so many times.

10:25 it’s sad because the purple pin wheel (mari) is far away from the others and basils (green one) is also kinda far away from the other ones

The game referencing other common events such as 'Do you want to have a picnic with Mari? - Do you want to have a picnic with your friends?", along with the jump text used for BS/Lost Library and Hospital, is quite a good detail.

Oh god, seeing this makes me feel awful, for going straight to sunnys house, without doing any of them. I'm not finished with my first playthrough but since this game has so much replayabillity, I will definitly do those events when playing again

I can’t believe it’s canon that Kel liked Aubrey when he was a kid!!! It was already heavily hinted at by what Hero and Mari say they were just like them, always picking on each others to get each others attention. They're 12 year olds in the past, and 16 year olds in the present. They're still searching themselves and trying to figure out what they feel about who. I wouldn't be surprised if Aubrey likes both of them and is unsure which she's more attracted to.

I’ve noticed the coloured table at Hobbeez has the signature colours of the gang except for Sunny Orange=Kel Blue=Hero Pink=Aubrey Green=Basil Purple=Mari Pretty cool!

Fun fact, if you talk to the guy next to the arcade cabinet and tell him you want to play SPROUT MOLE EATER, and then initiate the pizza scene without letting him know he can go back, Hero will get stuck behind him and the cutscene will freeze.

swings scene is even better if you haven’t interacted with the past visions of them that are there. Like all other visions they’ll fade away after being interacted with but Sunny and Aubrey will get on the swings before they begin to fade away, so when they fade away it’s the modern Sunny and Aubrey now in their exact places

I know lots of things in the headspace for 1 day left but that’s cool!

I knew everything except that Sunny could sleep huh. And so, I think the first moment on the swing is really good

I've watched like 3 dozen playthroughs of OMORI over the years, and I have never, ever, ever seen that Aubrey's Pinwheel/Meeting dialogue.

beleive it or not i missed out having a picnic or maris grave because was my first playthrough with no hints
