OMG, this jigsaw puzzle! I missed 10 cliches out of 56: can you spot them? Vintage puzzle 1997!

Hello and a super super welcome or welcome back! In this new adventure I solved a 1997 puzzle by Murfett Regency Australia with 56 cliches, part of the series "puzzle within a puzzle" - Clandestine Cliches. This is a small-ish puzzle but some parts almost made me give up! hahah let's find all the cliches together? There are 10 I couldn't see, please feel free to let me know which ones I missed!!!
Love this? Please please LIKE this video and share it away, it will help my channel ratings on the platform, much appreciated!

@HeidiGood You were sharp to spot "chip of the old block." I looked right at it and that cliche didn't come to me until much later. Here is something amusing - - at the fitness center I go to I often see a father come in with his very young son. The father wears a black tee shirt on which is printed "Old Block" and the son wears a black tee shirt on which is printed "Chip."

I forgot to mention in the video that theres another one in this series also made in Australia by the same illustrator: it’s the movie titles! You may be able to find it easily online if you are interested. Again mate thank you very much for enjoying this one!! Cheers from cold Auckland 😁

Hi Ric, I did in fact watch the video at the time it came out. Out of curiosity I looked for this on UK ebay and wow, there was one so I snapped it up. It arrived today and mine has two differences. 1. It is a random cut not a ribbon cut and 2. It contained a list of the cliches. I had already trawled through the video noting the cliches found plus any that were suggested. I checked what I found against the list in the box. There are nine that don't appear to have been found and three with slight differences. Slight differences were A fine kettle of fish, Open a can of worms and don't cry over split milk. The nine not found are:- Knight in shining armour, Under the weather, Shoot the bull, Behind the eight ball, As American as apple pie, Over the Hill, Purple with rage, Drink like a fish and Shadow of a doubt. My puzzle is by the Great American Puzzle Factory, no date so not sure if it came out at the same time as the one you have or earlier/later. As there is no way to get in touch with you away from KZread, I can't send you a scan of the list. Hopefully the above will be acceptable to you.

@@RicPuzzles I'll do it after I finish the one I am currently doing. I think the broken dice is meant to represent Chip off the Old Block. The letter dice is a block and it has a chip on one corner. The piece of paper I have doesn't mention a movie titles one. Mine says Hidden Pictures and Cat House plus Clandestine Cliches. Apparently Behind the Eight Ball means:- In a difficult situation or tight spot; at a disadvantage. Not a phrase I've ever heard before, maybe it is specifically American?

@@RicPuzzles I've now finished the puzzle, took me about 3 hours 20 mins. I did discover a date on the front of the box on the picture, 1983. The date does not appear on the jigsaw itself. I made a start and then got the sky done as I like to get the somewhat boring bits done first. I can then enjoy myself with the rest of the puzzle. Interesting to see how some cliches were combined e.g. the wolf covered - wolf in sheep's clothing, talk out of both sides of mouth and on the fence. I don't think you mentioned how long it took you to do although a comparison of times wouldn't really tell you anything as the cuts were different. I'm keeping this jigsaw as it is so different to the usual type of jigsaw I do.

@@RicPuzzles You are right ! You named "train of thought" as # 45 and I was wrong to think you missed it. I'm sorry. "That's a horse of a different color" is a tired old cliche more of my parents' generation. Growing up, I heard it from my father all the time. Let's say you have a lady you have just started dating and you chance to see her out on the town with another guy. Your first thought is that she is romantically involved with this other man and you feel a little jealous. Later, you learn this is her brother who has just returned from the war. You might say: "Well, that's a horse of a different color" meaning that her seeing this man is another matter entirely. I can't be sure this cliche was intended to be in this puzzle as "high horse" is the most likely cliche. However, I went by the different colors on the horse and my father's tired old cliche came to mind. He used that cliche in a lot of different circumstances.
