Such a simple time. Wish I could turn the clock back and live it again.
So sweet and innocent. I remember seeing them in person sometime after this was released. How much music has changed can easily be seen by our loss of innocence. Those were great days.

@@helgar791 oh,that was a nice, cover .I knew it was someone else, getting old. Thanks.
I was 13 when this came out and I remember wanting that kind of love in my life when I grew up and I found it and our marriage has lasted 47 years! Love like this can still happen!
I remember this ...a long time ago..I was 13 and had gotten a transistor radio for christmas 😁 fell asleep listening to this music ♥️♥️♥️
They tell you what true love is I know I have followed their advice since I got married. I have been married to my sweet wife for 61 years.
I love the sweet, romantic songs of my childhood. Thanks for reacting to great old music.
One of my favorite couples were Peaches and Herb in 1967. Let's fall in love and Close your eyes. Beautiful love songs!😍
Think I had this on vinyl. Great song. I remember hearing it on the radio way back when. I used to know all the words to this. I think i still do. Great voices, especially Paula's. 👌
One of the greatest love songs ever
Family story: my parents had a son, then 6 daughters in a row. Dad’s name, Paul. When he heard the sixth girl had been born, he said, Name her Paula and call it quits. This was their song. She sat on his lap as he sang it to her. Thanks for the memories.
this was way back in 1963 on the top 10 chart then, they were just 22 at the time. They pretended to be best friends for selling the record and going on tour. they were on the American Band Stand and made good money, he went back home married and she did some touring and schooling. was a great song.
Great choice! Along this line is "Deep Purple" by Nino Tempo & April Stevens
Brings back memories back then of school dances and hearing this hit and romantic song and those smooth voices.
and they kept their voices too, i heard them singing this when they must've been in their 60's or more and they still sounded amazing. Paul's real name is Ray Hildebrand and Paula's real name is Jill Jackson.
This song takes me back to my youth like no other. I was very shy and the first time I danced was to this song. I had a big crush on this girl in my class and when this song played, it gave me the courage to ask her to dance.
thank you for playing this one. Her voice made the hair stand up on my neck
I always got a kick out of this one, it felt like she was singing to me every time I heard her sweet voice!
I was born in 1965 and I was named after this song 💜

Ja urodziłam się 10 lat wcześniej 😅 nie mam na imię Paula, ale pokochałam tę piosenkę ❤ Pozdrawiam Cię bardzo serdecznie z Polski ⚘️🍀⚘️🍀⚘️
I was 15 when this came out. Perfect dreamy song for a boy-crazy teen to imagine dating her favorite guy.
A song somewhat similar in style is a swamp-pop song by Dale And Grace - I'm Leaving It All Up To You.
Beautiful angel voice of Paula!!
This song is very lovely! Ah, innocent love ❤️So sweet!
We really were different back then; far simpler, far safer, & far more trusting. We didn't have computers, smart phones, social media , internet, ect. , all both good & bad. Some things were VERY wrong in our country-------yet, it was a time so much safer . I miss it terribly. -------MJL< 75 y/o
I loved that song. Paula's voice was the epitome of sweet, lovely, beautiful, all of that and more. Paul wrote the song and had a wonderful voice himself and the words were pure romantic puppy love blossoming. I was in junior high when it came out and even thought I knew back then that I was gay, I loved the love it represented.
great year great song.....yes oozes innocence
Ray Hilebrand(12/21/1940) Jill Jackson (5/20/1940) aka Paul & Paula former American pop duo best known for this song a 1963 million-seller hit record. Hildebrand wrote this song.
Beautiful song, great voices, big hit! Unfortunately no more lovey dovey songs 😍😘 like that anymore. Good memories tho!
Thank you so much for playing this song ♥️
One of the biggest songs from 1963. It was number 1 for many weeks. I haven't heard this song in many years.
I still have this song on a 45 record. Loved this song!
@Shawn and Mel...You guys are the best!...and always make me feel good with your insightful and genuine reactions to such a wide variety of great songs. I wish you could bottle the joy you express and apply it to the currently politically divided America.
I was 11 when this came out and I thought it was a good song and I started to think about girls I met my wife at 17 and married at 18 and we are going on 52 years now and I love her more than ever ! You two are in love too it is easy to see ! One of our songs was love is all around by the troggs
actually I heard that Paul walked away, and Dick Clark had to sing with Paula on tour. The video is not the Original Paul. He is on the Album cover.
We’re they in their 20’s when this came out? They look so mature mind you I suppose in those days everybody did. Never seen a visual of them before.
Never heard this before so great but my friend back in school had a car she called Paula and she would get in it and say hey hey paula lol good stuff❤✌
Debbie Reynolds is a wonderful singer and actress her song Tammy's in love is a must ....please please
Yes! Yes! Yes! Such a sweetheart song.
So lovely.
Gigantic hit song by a real life couple. Saw them live too
Sounds of angels making love, true hearts and true love.
Isn’t that just the sweetest song, and performance? I was probably grown before I heard it, or a big kid, anyway because it came out in the 60s.
I had never seen the original singers sing this The first time I had heard it was when I was 16 and two popular talented hosts sang it for fun and it began a hit 🤭 Australia 💕 Christina
One of the best duets ever!
We sadly lost Ray Hildebrand (Paul) a few days ago. He is now resting in the loving arms of the Lord that he served for so many decades.
This was one of the few singles my mother had when we were growing up. Loved it then as I do now.
This sure takes me back-loved this song back then
No auto tune. These two could sing.
I remember hearing this first time. A broke Marine Pvt. sitting in the barracks on a weekend.
Thank you for reacting to good music. It’s been so wonderful to hear the music of my childhood again. Keep up the great work you’re doing!
My dad had their album with this song on it. And a mixed couple at that in 1967 waààay beyond their time.
They just sound so beautifully dreamy. I always get goosebumps when I listen to this. I love seeing you both enjoying their song too.❤
This channel has tapped into those that still believe in True Love , that's what people still want, it's out there.
Awe I love this song brings back memories ❤️
From the Spring of '63, I was 16 y/o, a Junior in HS, Denver South High -------EVERYONE was singing along to this song ! It's not possible to explain just how big this was . Ray Hildebrand & Jill jJackson, & sadly, this was their one & only hit song. A true 60's Classic.--------------------MJL< 75 y/o
This was one my favorite songs to sing along with in my youth (I'm 72 now). BUT, the original Paul and Paula intensely disliked each other, although I think it was more Paula that couldn't stand Paul. As I remember, they weren't very far into their first record tour when the original Paula walked away. Another Paula was located. but that was it for the duo. They were one-hit wonders. I don't believe the girl on the video was the original, but it might have been. Pause a few times and look at her eyes. No love-light there!

That's not true. There was only one set of Paul and Paula, and they remained friends over the years, they would occasionally perform together as well, here they are in 2015: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rG2lk6h_mcnTnJM.html

Ray Hildebrand (Paul) and Jill Jackson (Paula) were the original Paul and Paula. They recorded Hey Paula and released it on LeCam Records under the names Jill and Ray. After the recording was picked up by Phillips Records it was suggested they change their names to Paul and Paula. I don't believe there was any "intense dislike" by Ray or Jill. On one particular tour, Ray did walk out on Jill and Dick Clark had to fill in for Ray to complete the tour. Ray couldn't handle the success and wanted to go back to school. That is the original "Paula" in the video. They were not one-hit wonders:...Hey Paula; Young Lovers; Something Old, Something New; Flipped Over You; First Quarrel; First Day Back At School; We Two Forever Shall Be One; We'll Never Break Up For Good; Holiday Hootenanny. Although some of their singles did not make it as far up the charts as Hey Paula, (due to the British Invasion), they were still successful. Three albums: Paul and Paula Sing For Young Lovers; We Go Together; and Holiday For Teens. After the duo disbanded, Ray went on to a successful gospel recording career. (check out rayhildebrand.com). Jill attempted a solo career. (love her version of Born Too Late). You can see various videos of the duo on KZread. At one point, Jill married their producer.
I just love you guys reactions more and more. This was great!!! Your passion and sincerity comes through crystal clear. Would you guys do another song from that era? HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY by the Tuneweavers !!!! Male's my eyes misty. 😢😀💔
It's just NOT possible to over-state just how big this song was in the spring of '63. I was 16 y/o, a junior in HS & EVERYONE WAS SINGING THIS SONG. ----------------MJL, 75 y/o
She certainly had a million dollar smile to go with that great voice. Ray Hildebrand went on to help pioneer what became known as Contemporary Christian music. He wrote a number of "campfire" songs that young church folk sang in the 60s and 70s.
Every time I see a lady's name tag and it's Paula, I can't help but singing, "Hey, hey, Paula." I get either a smile or a look that says, "This guy is nuts." I think that by now most Paulas have had that sung to them and fortunately most of them are good sports about it by the time I hit them with my rendition.
OMG You guys really surprise me! They are my favorite love duet! Please react to more of their songs such as First Day Back At School, Young Lovers..... also Red Roses For A Blue Lady, A Summer Place by The Lettermen! ❤👍
I loved this song when I was a kid and just happened to name my son Paul. I used to sing it to him in the morning "Hey Hey Paul!" RIP my darling boy.
Beautiful song. Her voice ALWAYS MELTS ME. SMOOOOTH. ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES
Love this song, so great. :)
Thats the song Annie sang before she got killed by Michael Myers in Halloween

Paul & Paula (their real names were Ray Hildebrand & Jill Jackson) are a former American pop singing duo, best known for their 1963 million selling number one hit record, "Hey Paula". They had a few follow up hits called "Young Lovers" & "Dear Paula".
Wow the talent back then!
I have tried this a few times with a partner at karaoke.
The radios played this song to death back then.
I also loved Cher and hubby singing ‘ I got you babe’
Hey fella, time for you & Mel to put out a vlog of you 2 singing this looking into each others eyes like the original. 🤣🤛🏻🏴
Love these old songs! Please do Mary Wells: "My Guy" and "The One Who Really Loves You."
From what I've read they never dated and each married other people. However they did remain friends at least into the early 2000's. One thing about music from the 50's (60's and 70's too)...you had to be able to sing. Unlike today, back then, people could really sing.
I like you,you guys make me smile 😊
I was 6 years old when this came out in 1963 too young at the time to know the meaning of the words and it wasn't until I heard it on a oldies radio show in the mid 70's when I remember hearing it and how beautiful this song and it just touches your heart to hear those words of true love they expressed to one another , we sure could use songs expressing love like this today , we truly need it in these troubled times !
I think I remember this from the animal house soundrrack???? Still good song that obviously sticks with you
I was named after this song lol! Thank God for Paul and Paula or they'd be calling me Daphne Kay today! 🤣🤣🤣

RIP Ray Hildebrand aka "Paul." He died in August at the age of 82.
The other couple that made great duet songs like this were Dick and Dee Dee, "Tell Me"
They had an interview a few years ago they said they was never involved with each other they were just friends
I slow danced to this many time, back in the day.
They were supposed to perform live on American Banstand on November 22nd 1963, but as you can guess, it was rescheduled.
She is an earth angel! Stunningly amazing! I’m speechless, lost for words!
You definitely have to do Dale and Grace, "Leaving It All Up To You." Just absolutely heavenly.
Hey fam!!!🔥🔥🔥
you should do the reunion of this song years later
This was one of just 2 single discs awarded Gold by the RIAA in 1963 -- though at least half a dozen others sold at least a million in the US.
1963 💗Your reaction is wonderful & sweet. I love hearing all of the songs I knew & listened to & cried & sang especially the love songs of the 50’s - 70’s 💖☮️🎵🎼🥰
Roller skating days, 1963. The Dj played this Beautiful song on a slow dance. One of my all time favorite song. The music was amazing!..You had great artist like Dean Martin, Bobby Venton, Johnny Rivers, Barbara Lewis( Baby I'm yours), Brenda Lee... There are to many to list! . My favorite male artist is Gene Pitney( Amazing talent).
The way they look at each other ,Paula has the edge in this video.Tony
I remember hearing that they COULDN'T STAND each other in real life.
I was 13 yrs old when I heard them. And I got to see them perform in person. This was such an innocent love song. Great memories
A beautiful, beautiful song, but they were not actually together. They were Ray Hildebrand and Jill Jackson.
She owned this song!!!
I love to see young people react to these songs. I'm only 40. But when I was a kid in 90s I listened to all these old songs with my mother on the oldies station. You guys just gained a sub!
I the end you said I wish we could sing to each other like that... but you do, I hear the love you have for each other every time you talk, it's as beautiful as singing. You two rock! Peace from Northern. Michigan..
Loved this song when it came out, but honestly, every time I heard it, reminded me of music played at ice skating rinks.😂
Of course I love that song. Beautiful
