@@8dayssoonerI'm originally from Bangor, not far from Ren's neck of the woods. Went to a welsh primary school (where I was fluent), and an english secondary school (where I got lazy). I can still do fluent phrases (mostly sweary), but am still at primary school level for general convo but pretty much understand every word. I have relatives that speak to me in welsh and I answer in english. We can have full conversations without any misunderstanding. Don't ask me to write anything though lol.

@@johnwilliams9914 I was born and raised in Newport and now live in Caerphilly so it was always taught as a second language for us so I was never fluent unfortunately. I can read Welsh because it’s an easy language to read once you know the alphabet but I couldn’t tell you what half the words translate to 😂

He actually wrote this one recently for sick boi album. He said in an interview that it was supposed to be a shorter intro for the album, but he said the words just kept coming until it was a full blown track

I cannot relate to his pain, but he paints such a vivid picture that I can imagine. What a masterpiece.

I relate emotionally rather than physically

Ren has a gift for sharing the personal, and then relating it to the universal.

“Wow” is probably the best reaction. I always feel guilty vibing to the beat when it’s a howl of rage against his personal pain and the pain of the world.

Besides the 5 spine surgeries I had back in the 1990's, I have a kidney disease that causes cysts and stones. As we speak, I have a kidney stent. I have to keep it for at least a month, maybe 2. I understand pain more than most, less than some. ❤ This is my favorite Ren song ❤ Thank you for playing it ❣️

Hi Guys, Ren just turned 34 and he says it's been 33 years, and yes, he is still hurting, maybe not as bad because he is still in treatment. I still can't listen to this without feeling emotional for him, It is a masterpiece of writing and production.

Love the reaction! Ren has a new track coming out next Thursday, called Troubles (named after Trouble So Hard by Vera Hall) after getting the original 1937 sample cleared. It's is a big one for him. He was around 20 when he first felt the symptoms. It kept getting worse. Correct diagnosis in late 2015, followed by stem cell transplant in 2016 which saved his life and allowed him to busk and perform again. He suffers from PTSD from all the years of physical and mental illness. According to Ren, Trouble So Hard holds special meaning for him for several different reasons.

This is a masterpiece. It begins with his “ living” eulogy in Welsh : Illness is my teacher/ It broke my smile/ My bones feel old / Here lies the body of Ren. And then it navigates through the day when, having extreme side effect from one of the multitude of treatments, he couldn’t walk, fell and crawled on the kitchen floor ( where his mother found him when she arrived home) and fell into psychosis. It goes back and forth from being descriptive, narrative, philosophical, +++. And having been in treatment in Canada for almost 18 months ( initially thinking it would be ~4) REN’s health has improved but not without going through some of that same turbulence. And it’s easy to forget that part because he looks much better and has been doing some actual living of his life. Additionally he’s been extremely productive musically as an artist and has been able to expand to other things like merch and setting up the MG Game, with a great team and support, and the award winning video MG3 along with Samuel Perry Falvey . I could, but will spare you , go on and on about all the philosophy in here and stick to what resonates with me personally. 1) Pain, condescending. Like that antagonistic voice in Hi Ren. Always reminding you that it is there and has the ability to knock you to your knees. 2) Searching for peace in the belly of the beast. Where the beast is a personification of PAIN. When the pain is ever present and you are so tired you actually try to just lean into it, crawl inside and become at one with it,hoping it grants you some mercy… 3) Begged the sky mercy ( that never came) and so BECAME kneeling at the altar of my own disease and begging for mercy from the thing that truly hold your life in its hands. 4) Future stays uncertain: Ren is still going through it and he knows that, at least to some extent, will always have to make regular trips for treatments, take extra care of his health.

Those of us that have moderate to severe chronic pain can relate to this so much. He speaks for us all and describes pain in a way brilliant way. Hey, Cedric, the 33 reference is also the age Ren was when he wrote this. Great reaction guys! ✌🏼🫶🏼

The beginning is Welsh! I lived in Wales, not far from where Ren lived for around 30 years until I relocated to Northern America 11 years ago. In all my years living in Wales, I only picked up a couple of phrases, however, there is a breakdown on the video including the English interpretation, I believe.

Graphically it is intense... it imposes itself, it enters through the eyes without asking for permission imposing itself through the color and brightness of the graphics and typographic size, and delivers the message without excuses... Do you want to hear it?!... Read it?!... Feel it?!... So there you have it!... Wonderful! Thanks

My favorite song on the Sick Boi album

His description of clawing the laminate of the floor is when he first experienced a psychotic break according to Ren in an interview. I think the description of watching Jesus jump was him acknowledging that his last hope of praying to God for help was shown to him to be worthless. The despair and the shock of seeing all this as his brain is literally breaking down causing these hallucinations is so awful to me, I can’t even imagine how on earth he pulled through that. Can you imagine having everything you that you thought you knew turned on its head? You begin to understand the depths of his soul in a way that few can really share. And yet somehow he’s managing to this day to overcome all the torture he’s been through and have a real value for the goodness of life and he wants everyone else to believe it too. He really is an extraordinary human being.

Spot on cedric

Sick Boi was Ren's 2nd album. He's almost done with #3 and new song release on May 9th. Ren wrote this last before the album released. He is describing the day on the kitchen floor when he was 25 and he fell into psychosis from the agony and bitterness broght on by an immune reaction he had to a treatment he had saved 6 months for and had great hope for. It was one crushing defeat too many. It is still prominent in his memory . He has been in pain and sick for 13 years.
