Oh no. I was ready to pull the trigger on a 007 tomorrow, but now you've put a spanner in the works. I was interested in the 013 because for my small wrists, but I assumed there wouldn't be many parts available to modify it. Now that's your plan, I might do the same. Great video.

I have had mine for the same amount of time. Still love it though! I have 6.25 inch wrists. I was worried the 009 was going to be too large. Almost got the 013. So happy with the 009 sizing. Not too big or heavy for me at all. Love your videos. Always well done and to the point!

Wow, I was actually starting to wonder if I was the only one who preferred the SKX013 to any of the larger offerings. Maybe it's my inclination towards smaller watches, especially under 40mm. Glad you got one! All the best with your new SKX.

The SKX is a gorgeous watch, prefer the Pepsi 009 over the 013. why I don’t have one? Prefer the padi turtle over it. Hacking seconds and manually wind able movement is what I wanted. Good review and nice straps, cheers, Konstantin

You can get 20mm oyster style bracelets for your SKX013. They look great on that smaller version. Cheers.

Just in time! I've just ordered an SKX007 and cannot wait to have it around my wrist. But if you want a really cool watch no one knows much about, I highly recommend you check out Barbos Sportmaster 1000m. I've had this one for over 2 years now and it wears awesome.

Couldn't agree more, I bought both together and sold the 009 3 months later. The 013 looks great on bond nato, leather strap and I recently bought a strapcode super oyster and I just can't take it off and I don't even like bracelets.

When I first received my SKX009 I was underwhelmed, dare I say disappointed. Then I put it on a navy/white NATO and fell in love! I completely understand why some may not like this watch, but there's just something about it that brings a smile to my face every time I wear it.

I believe the SKX is great for what it brought to the table historically. It was one of the best value watches at its time, one of the FIRST best value quality watches. For all subjective purposes SKX is great. However objectively there are now superior watches within the same price point which offer greater features.

I know I'm late to the party but I received my brand spanking 007 2 days ago and absolutely love it. 😍 Seriously wondered what all the fuss was about from the aforementioned You Tube watch boffins (much respect by the way, and to your good self)...but now I see the light brother. Okay it may have its faults but to me they are its strengths too. One day I will get another to modify BUT it's a keeper straight out of the box WOW.

How are the watches? Are you happy with the product? I ordered a SKX013 one week ago from them as well and still didn't arrive :( I guess is because the christmas time. I can't wait anymore to see that beautiful creature in my wrist.

Kinda cool you posted pics of another two of my favorite watch guys. T3 and TGV. I kinda like Archie, but in a comedic kinda way.

Good to know you are still on Team Corn Dog! I love the SXK013 but I found a fixer-upper SKX001 and that watch warmed the cockles of my heart, doused those cockles with malt vinegar and pepper, and served them back to me in a cup with a tiny fork.

I loved this video...just the right amount of information and drama :) The SKX013 is fantastic choice :)

I have managed to buy a barely used one for £90, which makes it a decent buy. It's an iconic watch, but for the £369 which is the retail price in the UK, it's probably not so good. Whilst not ISO tested, the best divers watch I own is a Parnis 200m. It has a sapphire window, an auto Miyota movement, a ceramic 90 click bezel with a great click, 316L stainless well finished case, beautiful guilloche dial, and decent quality stainless bracelet. Bought new for £75.

Agree that it sits rather tall and wears a bit awkwardly despite a good diameter. The waffle strap looks great.

I just can’t choose between buying a skx013 with the jubilee bracelet or buying the one with the rubber strap and replacing it with a bond nato.

I have a 6 1/2" wrist and the SKX009 looks fabulous on me.

How do you usually sell your watches?

Thoroughly enjoyed this one! Orient has come out with two new versions of the Bambino; a small seconds, and an open-heart. While not dive watches, they are lovely little pieces! Mayhap you will do a review on them? I own a couple of the 007/009 predecessors, the 7002. They are both modded, and I do love them as my faithful companions! Cheers, Jody, keep up the great work!

the problem I have with the skx013 is the lug to lug is the same as the 009. is in propotion to its bezel the lugs are a lot longer. the long lugs do not appeal to me.

My wrist has 17 cm , but i love big divers. For example the gorgeous Orient M- force with 44 mm , or , have a look on the Marc&sons divers , also with saphire glass and ceramic becels 😎

I heard it losses 1-1/2 hour pr year ?? is that true?

Hello from Jamaica!! Great watch channel!!!!! I just love the variety especially at this price range!!! Have you thought of getting the Vostok Ratnik (Navy version). Being left-handed it would be just perfect for me (Apart from the Orient Monster dive or Tudor Pelagos ...sadly out of budget)

Im not a big SKX fan either... Don't get me wrong, the watch was great 20 years ago... But that was 20 years ago. The Orient Mako II (FAA02009D9) is a much better watch at the SKX price point. Great video.

Only orient worth buying is the orient saturation diver.

I sold mine for some strange reason, and regretted afterwards. Luckily they are abundant and not too pricey. The bracelet, case and bezel is pretty scratch resistant, but go for a sapphire replacement crystal. I adore my SKX031, but suddenly it started to run too fast, but only when worn?! So now im without a Seiko diver - life is not the same ;)

What do you think about the new mini-turtle?

Top tip with bracelets. If 12 and 6 are going to have uneven links. Have the 12 with the fewer links. Attach the clasp with the fixed part at 12. Have the micro adjustments on the 6 side. Should be much more comfortable that way. It is for me anyway.

I have a skmei 1464 with a 48mm case and I believe it's confortable.

I don't think I'll ever sell my SKX009 but that SKX013 does look pretty good.

What I think could be an interesting little mod - SKX013 with a smooth bezel mod and some snowflake hands. The poor man's Tudor Black Bay 36mm

36mm oyster case, eta 2824 clone, gilt bond 3,6,9 dial, gilt mercedes hands (but might get some snowflakes and choose), and a 20mm colareb spoleto in rust. Vid hopefully before the end of the month! (Assuming I don't stuff it up...)

WOW!!! Jory and Jody! You guys need to do a collaborated review, of say the new 5kx line as a stand alone watch. Not like how it compares to the vaunted SKX line. They are and always will be a part of horological lore. You don’t get much better than that. There are others out there to fill the void, and maybe a few variations of the 5kx for bonus.

I sold my 007 and haven’t looked back. After I got the turtle the crappy 7S26 just annoyed me.

everyone says you have to have an skx I have 3 Seiko 5s but no skx.... until now I know they quit making them so i just ordered one skx175 new in box was a display model at a store 225 bucks I think that's pretty good considering there getting harder to find. Just got a Orient raven2. Would recommend.

I think you might regret it. If you are like me you will experience taste swings. I own everything from 46mm to 33mm. Occasionally I think I should get rid of the extremes on one end or the other, but as time passes I am glad I didn't. I want room to express my personality and sometimes I want a big watch.

Can you do a review of Rocawear watches. They're not exactly the most expensive watches, however I've found all of mine to be extremely accurate and excellent for their price. My favourite watch of theirs is their mesh chronograph watch. Excellent videos, very informative and much less subjective than many other watch channels that mostly like to throw an expensive watch in your face and review nothing but their price tags. Keep up the good stuff :)

Have you ever heard of Brigada Watches? They're super cheap, but work super well. I got mine for 30 US dollars. I don't know how many Australian dollars that is, and I also don't know if they'll ship to Australia on Amazon, though.... Just a thought!

Love my 007, but never been a fan of the pepsi. I think you made the right choice. There was no magic coming from your wrist with the 009.

Just one more t-shirt! Love this one. So this is Fangio, Stewart , Prost, Senna, Mansell & Schumacher? A shame they couldn’t have squeezed Hunt in the line up. I reckon a watch to represent each of them would be great for the channel! Schumacher had his Speedmaster obviously, not sure about the rest of them. Any ideas anyone..? (A good job old James isn’t there otherwise someone might suggest the Tag Heuer James Hunt piece of nonsense from a couple of years ago!) Thanks for another great video (and, personally, I’d always go for a Monster over an SKX…)

Mate, they need to add a few more... Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton, not to mention Fangio, Brabham, Piquet etc etc. Too many legends fr one T! Senna had (still has?) and association with Tag? They still use his image.

Sometimes smaller is better and in that Jody I am with you despite a 7.5" inch wrist. The Mini me version is far more aesthetically pleasing and would for me be perfect size. EXCEPT FOR: I don't do polished anything its a magnet for scratching - some of us just how shall I say have a tendency for being tough on watches. Why oh why would a dive watch or for that matter a tool watch be polished. Add to that Hardlex is crap and despite not having had an aversion to hardened mineral (Armourlite's is the only one I trust it really is scratchproof after 5 years) me I would be upgrading that to a sapphire and they have them on eBay found em yesterday by chance for Seiko with AR if I recall. Seiko if they really had a clue could upgrade this for all their watches you can get sapphires under $20 so surely they could reduce that cost. I think its a Seiko thing like they have proprietary Hardlex so they use it. I think if they sold products with sapphire they could generate greater sales and have an even superior product but hey thats me. Great review as always. Waiting patiently for the custom build video; no pressure just bored in Adelaide.

Actually, while sapphire is more scratch proof, it is FAR more likely to shatter from impact than Hardlex. Since the SKX is a tool watch as you said, I think Hardlex was the right choice. A scratch is one thing, but if a crystal shatters from impact while underwater, well, you know the rest.

Wish the 0013 had the Pepsi bezel

I had an SKX007 and really liked it -- except the chapter ring was misaligned. Grrrrr!!!!! It bugged me so much that I flipped the watch and drowned my sorrows with a properly aligned Turtle, Samurai, Tuna, and Sumo. But.....something about not having one in my collection kept bugging me. How can a genuine Seiko fanboy not have one? Sacrilege! So I bit my prided and an SKX009 is scheduled to be delivered this afternoon. I really hope that this one is aligned, which with Seiko I know is a hit-or-miss proposition.

Both myself and my flatmate have become ‘victims’ of your excellent channel and each bought one of your recommendations during the past month. And now I’m tempted with the Skx013 as my first dive watch - esp due to my 6.5in wrists. I agree with you - imo it just looks a bit more expensive and better proportioned than it’s bigger brother. Looking forward to seeing what you get as a replacement 😉

I have 6.5 inch wrists too and the first diver I bought was the SNZF17 and still love it. Then I decided I'd like to add the SKX013 to the collection. For me it was a mistake and I quickly returned it for the SKX007. While it is heavier than the 013, for a diver, it looks like the woman's version of the 007. Not that I have an issue with my masculinity mind you. I wear a 34mm Jaeger-LeCoultre and 34mm Movado. But while the 013 is smaller in diameter, it is nearly the same thickness so it felt even more top heavy to me than the 007 because the diameter to thickness ratio is even more pronounced, if that makes sense, so IMO its not as well proportioned as the 007. Try and wear both of them before you commit to either one. Even with my puny wrists, if I adjust the bracelet so that it's snug enough, it won't rattle or feel even remotely top heavy, and the jubilee bracelet allows you to wear it a bit snugger because it conforms so nicely to the contours of your wrist while remaining VERY comfortable.

jacc88888 Have you spoken to the Tissel fairy because you need to ask to be put on the waiting list if you’re interested in the Sub homage. Look at the Seiko SNZF17 too as it has hints of the Submariner but with Seiko’s unique take. It’s of course not a certified diver at only 100m water resist, but I’ve worn mine in the shower and swam in a saltwater pool and the ocean without issue - I LOVE mine. I agree the Orient Mako II is also nice plus it has hand winding and hacking if that’s important to you. Too many watches, not enough wrists. Stay away from the Phoibos in my opinion. Bought a PY007C and returned it. The build quality seemed sub par for the price. And I’ve decided I’m not really an homage kinda guy. I’d rather have something that does its own thing than an exact copy of someone else’s design. Just my 2¢.

Steven Wymor My flatmate waited less than 3 months for his Tissel and it DOES look good despite feeling quite a heavy watch. I would probably go for a 200m watch just for extra water resistance ‘insurance’ for when in the sea etc. The Seiko SNZF17 is remarkable value though.

I enjoy my Seiko SKX009J, but I too must admit that I find the aluminum Pepsi bezel insert to be a bit on the cheap size. I'm not a huge fan of the bezel itself. I think a ceramic Pepsi bezel insert and a nice coin edge bezel would make a big difference on this watch. Then again....for around $200 bucks, it's hard to expect more than what you get with what is already a pretty decent watch overall.

I own the SKX013, 007, 009, 011, and the 171. I'm not selling any of them! To me the 013 is more top heavy with the narrower bracelet. To each their own. I still enjoy your videos though.

I'm glad to continue avoiding the SKX. I did fall into the Bambino trap. Lesson learned.

I dont really care for the colours of the 009 but abdolutely love the 007.

I miss my skx009 too.....

Vostok Amphibia ruined my watch collection. And I was doing so good, buying a different watch, maybe two, each month. Until.. I found my Amphibia. Now my heart is just not into checking out other brands, at least not as much. I try to wear other watches, really I do, however the Amphibia always wins out, day after day. Shame on Vostok.....

The K-35, or K-39 models? Honestly, I don't care for the looks of either. I like the basic Komandirskies with 2414 mvt. (I have 2 and both are very accurate, I even swim with one without problem), butnow my favorite is the Amphibia, 420 case model. Lately I've been checking out a Parnis Pilot, 44m. I like the simple, classy look. I have a Parnis Power Reserve which is beautiful and very accurate. A watch that gets overlooked is a "Kinyued". The quality vs. cost is amazing, in the 40-50 dollar range. If not familiar, you may want to give them a look. Also, I enjoy all of your reviews, great job, and keep it up my friend.
