Very cool. I still have both of these pieces.

This is just about the only video that really shows the approximate size how they look in real life. Every other channel's obsession with getting the macro/close up makes them look like ginormous boat anchors.

Thanks appreciate that. I’ve just now gotten into macro photos but haven’t done any Marco video. The entire purpose for my channel is to show knives, watches and other EDC gear in a way that can help people make informed decisions on purchasing and to show items that maybe someone’s never heard of so that can look into new gear. So I’ll always try to show things as they really are best I can and next to some common household items to really help bring the sense of size to my videos.

Bought and sold previous gen SMP. The bezel on the SMP was tough for me as well. Bracelet looks way better than it wears imo. Was my first luxury watch purchase so I will always have a special place in my heart for it LOL. Nice comparison!

I appreciate your honesty about the bezel action. Thats a big factor for me. I do IT work, so I'm often timing a lot of short tasks throughout my day, maybe 5-30 minutes. Planet Ocean would be better for me, in that case. I like that Omega makes these antimagnetic, thats a useful feature, being around computers all the time.

Bezel action on the Seamaster is probably poor because it’s not a new watch. I doubt a new watch would have that bezel action.

I love that PO, been a goal for some time. Good video

Great video!!! THIS is what I like! Just a straight forward comparison. No non-sense! Planet Ocean looks better to me! It has its own character while the amazing Seamaster 300 reminds me too much of a Submariner. "Is that a Rolex Submar.. oh no wait.. It is an Omega."

Great pair of Omegas but I prefer the PO. I like the fact that you feel the weight on your wrist all day long. I wouldn't mind owning both though.

Hey Dirk, I recently picked up the orange PO, where did you get that orange rubber strap? Do you happen to know the part number for that strap? My AD told me there weren’t any orange OEM rubber straps from omega...

I honestly got it from a buddy so I’m not sure. You might have to try a boutique rather than an AD. I ended up not liking it in rubber so it’s back on bracelet and I sold the strap back to the buddy I bought it from. Congrats on your purchase!!!!!!

I have a 300 and have recently started obsessing over the 600 after seeing it on black rubber on Jeremy Clarksons wrist. I need to take a trip to the AD soon and try it on. Do all the 600s have lume in the bezel, or just the red one (assuming it’s a special edition)?

The only one with the lumed bezel is this orange variety.

Speaking of rubber straps for a SMP 300 Diver......Have you had any experience with Barton rubber straps (or any of their straps)? Looking to get one for my black wave SMP 300.

I had a Barton on an SKX mod build fir a bit and didn’t care for it. I went with a CrafterBlue for that watch.

I got it from a friend. I’m not sure where he got it so I have literally no info. I’ve since sold it back and it lives on bracelet.

Does the bracelet of the PO fits in SM case ? I think it would be a great combination.

How large of a wrist would the rubber strap on the Seamaster professional fit? I am getting it on bracelet next week, and want to grab the rubber strap as well, but i have 19.5 cm wrist and can’t find any measurements on it

You might be at the upper limit my wrist is 7.25 in or 18.4 cm and you can see in the video how much strap is left.

I definitely think the Planet Ocean Wins, but despite being thicker.. it only seems thick on the top half which probably makes it wear similar to the Seamaster I want a Seamaster because of the waves on the dial. It’s such a big deal to me. I would love to know if there’s any difference in Movement specs between the 2 minus the increase in Water Depth

They are different movements yes as the PO has a jumping hour hand so easy to adjust if traveling forward or back through time zones and not having to hack the movement. I like that feature.

@@Watchandcutgearchannel 8900 in the PO has a slightly longer power reserve (60 hours) vs 55 hours of the 8800. I just sold my two wave dial Seamasters and have the orange and black version of the PO incoming. I've a small wrist too, but from what I can see the PO wears a bit smaller than the Seamaster 300 because of the shorter lug to lug (ignoring case thickness!)

I think that aside from wrestling bears your friend who sold you the black dial also enjoys custard wrestling or something. I have a brand new smp 300 and the bezel is nothing like that. It could do with a service and good clean.

Is the orange strap off the smp or aftermarket? I can see the springbars clearly so I wonder if it's not actually the correct size (20mm vs 22mm lugs)? Cheers.

Yes I believe it was from the SMP. It fit really well but didn’t like the shade and was not as comfortable so it’s back on bracelet and will live there.

I got it from a friend but have since given it back. The color didn’t match perfectly and that watch to me needed to be on bracelet.

Having a hard time deciding between these two. I love the scalloped case of the 300, love hands and markers of the PO. The big cons of the PO for me are the weight and height. If they had the right baby then I’d be super happy.

It’s an Omega strap that I got from a friend. Not sure where he got it. I actually passed it back to him as the coloring was off and yo me it just wears better on bracelet.

Strangely when I tried both the Planet Ocean looked smaller on my wrist than the 300m, albeit thicker when you look side on, but I was surprised! It was the blue version of both that I tried on.

Isn't the PO 43.5mm and SMP 42mm? They both look the same size when you put them side by side.
