Plus, this watch is available in grade 5 titanium if the weight is a concern for anyone. I’d get the Ti version but the dial/bezel looks so much better on this steel Seamaster. They should have used this same dial/bezel combo on the Ti Seamaster.

I love this time piece. Alot of watch for the money. This will be my next planet ocean. My current planet ocean also has the calibre 9900, but the bezel does not lume.

Amazing watch. The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on this one is that it’s not titanium. I realize there is a titanium version but it doesn’t have the same dial and bezel. I really prefer this dial/bezel combo over the titanium version of this watch. Also, Omega actually describes this dial as “ceramised titanium”. BTW, I’m not sure where you’re getting the beat rate of 25,200 VPH from. Omega is very clear on their site that the calibre 9900 is at an even 4 Hz (28,800 VPH).

It is. But it also exists as a full grade 5 titanium version, which is crazy light for its size.

How would helium get into the watch? The diver him/herself might be breathing a helium mix, but the watch would be in water?

Helium molecules are smaller than oxygen or nitrogen and could permeate a watch gasket leading to the crystal cracking or popping off after the diver’s decompression stage. With modern materials and tolerances this is no longer much of an issue, so the helium escape valve is either 1) A nostalgic traditional styling feature 2) An ugly and completely unnecessary carbuncle.

I love some of the Seamaster Pro and PO designs but I discount them all because of that awful HE valve, it’s just a bit embarrassing. I know in practice it’s no different to having a depth rating that greatly exceeds any human capabilities but it just feels super pointless.
