Life was harder but better for it. Reminds me of heavy snow falls, the buses stopping and walking miles from Art College (very lucky, only sibling out of six who had the chance) along slient roads with a cheap copy Walkman and this playing hauntingly beautiful track.

Will somebody PLEEEEEEASE invent a time machine and get us all back the the 80's....The 21st century has turned out to be a clusterfuck and I just really really want to go back.

Please oh Lord take me back to this truly greatest of music eras. Actually, it was just the best decade I remember ever. Lucky as a young boy and then teen. Life was simpler, music just was so much more fuller, romantic, the top 40 was just full of great songs and bands. Not anymore.

Glory days! Unfortunately they're gone. Just a memories,boy were they good. Enjoy this time. OMD for me are a sound track to my formative years. Souvenir has a transcendent quality all its own and we should be thankful for it. Take care.

@@ericmcclelland4776 Yes mate I have been watching lots of 80s music and movies lately. It was the golden age of new tech, new fashions, Symphs and some crazy hair. But oh those teen movies, romance, video clips, Ronald Reagan and what we don't have now; FREEDOM!!!! But at least I can say I lived and grew up in the best decades ever; 80s & 90s.

@@fastmonaro05 Did you miss the 1970s? Poor you ! I think the 70s were better than the 80s and better than the 60s. But 60s-80s - yeah, life was good. Actually, I'm enjoying music of the day more now than then. I don't think at the time we appreciated the quality. I also feel TV quality peaked in the 80s - pre-digital - and the TV peak for me was on one episode of Neighbours - where they did a very rapid fast pan - an none of the image was blurred !

OMD have always been one of the trend setting bands when it comes to electronic music and this track is my favourite of all time. Such a beautiful emotional song and always reminds me of the GF I had at the time. Love it and thanks to OMD for the music.

I've still got my copy!!

The unique sound they have is part of what symbolized that era of music. So many bands experimented with synths, keyboards, etc. It created a unique and distinct sound that we identified with.

It was the one that got me noticing OMD. Still love it now but also others of the era - in order, best to not as good: Maid of Orleans, Genetic Engineering and Enola Gay - and Joan of Arc. BUT back in the day, my hi-fi wasn't quite so hi by a long way ! Now with a Yamaha amp and Keff speakers - 'lets the flavour flood out' ;) - so there's a line from a TV ad from back in the day too - you just have to name the product and brand ;)
