I was raised Christian, but I have always admired how beautiful the women who wore hijab were....not just how lovely the scarves are, but how confident the women who wear them are. I can only hope that things will get easier for muslims in our country. Keep at it with your videos, because knowledge will break down the walls of fear. :)

my family hates hijab cuz they are not practicing catholics and alhamdulillah I am getting stronger every day. I started to wear it when I was 18 and I converted when I was 17. it was a huge change cuz like you I was that superb girly girl but alhamdulillah for everything Allah knew that I was capable of doing it even though I always wondered why Allah chose me to wear hijab if I was so weak and shy of people.

The part about your mom made me cry.I knew she wasn't being mean.I have a daughter. And hearing you recount that part with your mother, immediately I thought of how afraid for your safety she was.Not only from Non-Muslims,but Muslims as well.As you know some can be very...exacting.And judgement from our own community hurts the worst.(I have the same concerns for my daughter when and if she decides to put on the headscarf InShaAllaah.May Allaah make it wasy for our daughters.)The whole incident shows how much you guys love each other. When you were talking about the hijab being more than just cloth the Venezuelan was coming out!Your accent was noticable.JAK for sharing such an emotional event with us Ramadan Kareem and Eid Mubarak! XOXO💕

You're absolutely beautiful and so inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing! I started wearing the hijab before my 15th birthday, and I don't think that there is such thing as "being too young to wear it." It's mostly about being mentally strong enough to deal with it when it gets hard and being aware of its blessings. On another note, I felt more fashionable after wearing hijab because of all the patterns I get to wear and the beautiful dresses I have. I also LOVE Unique Hijabs and this other company in London called Hijab Deva. So fun to buy scarves! Thank you again for sharing, Omaya! May Allah's blessings be upon you. -Naima, Hijabi from the U.S.

Oh my god this is like listening to myself speak. I started wearing the hijab 4 months ago. I had a friend too at school, and he passed away a little over year ago. That made my decision much easier, and I slowly started covering myself up more and more. When I felt ready I put on the hijab before going to work without telling anyone and when my mom saw me, when I came home she reacted the same way your mom did, especially since I'm this girly girl who loves clothes and doing my hair and makeup, and I am extremely sensitive so she was so scared about if someone would say something to me and if I could handle it. She is alhamdullilah very happy for me now. So funny how our stories are similar and your video made me so happy, you are beautiful and so sweet I'm a new subscriber ❤️

I wish you all the best dear Omaya, keep up the good work ❤💚💜

This video was amazing! Thank you so much Omaya for this. I felt much more confident and I represented me on you. I was at a Muslim school too when I left the middle school. I am so thankful to my dad and mom to didn't let me be in a public school because I'm the kind of person that is really influential. I mean before the Islamic school " I was " it just change my perspective of the life. If I weren't be there I would probably be another person I'll probably be really out of the religion. Now I think that we have to be so proud of the strongest person we are now with the hijab cuz we past trough a lot of difficulties:)

I have seen a lot of hijab story videos and most of the girls started when they were like 10 years old, but you started at 20 which inspires me because I am 19. It gives me a lot of hope. I have been struggling with hijab for a few years now.I sometimes tell my self that there is no way I will be able to handle it because I know myself so well.I have depression and anxiety and I feel like it has been holding me back. But I am now seeing a therapist and praying to Allah. I pray for all the girls struggling and I want everyone to know Allah knows your struggle. I will probably be sending you an email. Thank you so much you are such an inspiration

Definitely an education thanks to Omaya. I'm definitely familiar with Latin America and Catholicism - driving in the car with a friend and they cross themselves if they're even just driving past a church, but it's interesting to see another side.

salaam alaikum sister. what an amazing story, very touching masha'allah you have come a long way. May Allah keep guiding you and keep you strong. The bit about your mom bought flashbacks, I reverted 6 months ago alhamdulillah and my mom thought it was a faze and it was hard when you are the only muslim in your household and going from dressing up, make up and different hair colours to covering up completely and questioning stuff but it also made me keep wearing my hijab, at first it felt weird going to work and everyone staring at you etc. but what Allah will He can make it happen alhamdulillah all the struggle and dua has made me more confident weating my hijab and learning all different style. I'm still trying to find my own stule after rechanging my wardrobe completely.

Hi sister, I just want to let you know that you should do what is best for you. And just remember that the harder something is for you the more Allah will reward you, and that this life is just a rode we are walking on to get to the afterlife. The West is a hard place to be a Muslim, but we must remember Allah is are one true Judge. What ever you decide to do remember to do it with confidence and don't ever let anyone put you down.

Salam Omaya, I loved this video, beautiful story Mashallah :) I wanted to comment on the portion where you spoke about hijab and its merging with fashion. You're right, Allah tells us to wear nice clothes and to look good/presentable but I really think its important to recognize the difference between looking good/presentable and looking pretty/provocative. you might think there is no relation but pretty implies attractiveness and provocative is something that catches attention and causes arousal, so I hope you see how they are relative. There is nothing wrong with looking "pretty" as long as the means you use to make you look that way does not contradict with Islamic guidelines. So if looking pretty is achieved through makeup or hijab styles or outfits that don't cover appropriately what/how Allah asked us to cover, then I think its crucial we recognize as Muslimah's we are not doing our "Hijab" justice BUT thats not to imply we are bad muslims at all and should just stop trying. I just wanted to put that out there so that all Muslimah's recognize that their Hijab is a journey of constant betterment and improvement rather than formulate excuses for the hijab we wear now and never progress in our deen. I say we because I don't wear perfect hijab but at the same time I recognize that rather than justify it, so I can work towards better Inshallah :)
