Omar finally speaking about Umr. Two interesting things I learnt about Umr ibn Al-Khattab in the last few years: 1) A few years back, I did a course in Islamic Inheritance Law and learnt that there’s actually a mathematical formula attributed to Umr ( RA) to calculate inheritance under some rather specific/special conditions 2) An article in National Geographic in 2018 (The Wells of Memory), cites that Umr ( RA) on knowing there would be many pilgrims visiting Makkah, facilitated the travel route by installing several wells along the Hejaz at intervals of exactly 24 hrs. He (RA) was the first to establish these overnight stay travel stations.
