Oman’s Sultan Qaboos was a figure for modernity and peace.
Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said al-Said, the longest-serving leader in the Gulf region, died early on Saturday at the age of 79. July would have marked his fiftieth anniversary of ruling the country.
Qaboos will go down in history as a ruler that took his small country in the Middle East to new levels of modernization and mediation.

Anyone whoever had the chance to live or work or visit Oman will love and miss this wise, humble and visionary leader.
I was visiting Oman during 2017 and the first place in my list to visit is Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Muscat. Then Sultane Qaboos Palace, and some others tourist attractions...The landscape of Oman is amazing and I really fall in love with sea view and definitely will come back again soon.

Oman is a beautiful , extremely smartly managed country. Public administration to business, Religious tolerance to law and order, you name it , they have it in place. Overall , you can just term it a developed country. Locals ( Omani nationals) are very polished, most of them demonstrate how to follow religion still be westernized. Rest of the Asian countries should learn from them

He was jo ruler for the Ummah. Rather for his country. Please don't put on us someone we didnt have, our ummah would not be like this if he was a ruler for the Ummah. The good however he did will hopefully be rewarded to him.

Yes. I would say most do. He's clearly trying to follow the late Sultan's legacy but he's is facing challenges. Unemployment, corruption and bad management still persist.

As an Omani, I disagree with Qaboos (may Allah rest his soul in paradise) on hosting Israeli officials. But in the overall his good deeds by far outweighs his bad deeds. In the end he is a human being, and we all make mistakes. We can only ask Allah to forgive him for all the mistakes he did.

And as an Omani as well I fully support his move and I see no issues in dealing with Israel. Either we like it or not the state of Israel will remain and continue to be strong and dominant in many areas. They top in finance, media and now technology (security as well as artificial inteligence). The most important parts of the iPhone most of users use to post their comments here are designed in Israel for example. Our national security and its inteligence gathering will never function to the best of our interest without the help of Israeli technology. Fact!

However old, however powerful, however advanced, Israel will still remain an illegitimate state, and we as Muslims and Arabs should stand up with Palestine and oppose any efforts to legitimize the Zionist state of Israel, because their ultimate goal is to establish the greater state of israel and then control the whole Arab nations. I prefer to die with dignity than to live in humiliation.
