Ойын-сауық

Greetings Stampede Fans!
August 13-16, 2015, celebrates the 82nd Annual Omak Stampede! We would like you to join us for a weekend of western entertainment that will be one of your fondest memories.
From the Thursday morning ride-in to the Sunday running of the World Famous Suicide Race, you will enjoy an action packed weekend to include Davis Shows Carnival, Wrangler Kids Night, Indian Encampment, Western & Native Art Show, Rodeo Dances and Vendor Row. As well, Omak Stampede continues to support the Tough Enough to Wear Pink Campaign.
We are pleased to announce that the Omak Chamber of Commerce will once again be heading up the Grand Parade. Omak Stampede will continue to mail and receive applications for a couple years to offer a smooth transition. As well, the Chamber has chosen to move the Grand Parade back to its' original Sunday morning schedule. The Kiddie Parade will continue on Saturday morning. We look forward to more entries, more color and more parade audience than ever before!
Four performances of PRCA Rodeo are sure to entertain fans of all ages! Announcer, Steve Kenyon, and Rodeo Clown and Bullfighters, J.J. Harrison, Rowdy Barry & Tim Vredenburg will return to the arena and our community with their world class performances! Specialty Act, Cody Cavanaugh, will amaze you with his high flying trick filled motorcycle and 4-wheeler show!
Please keep informed about this and all the exciting events presented in our arena year-round by visiting our website at www.omakstampede.org and our facebook page at Omak Stampede, Inc. Your rodeo tickets can be purchased online or by phone at 800-933-6625 or 509-826-1002. Ask how you can have the same seats every year at no extra cost to you!
Miss Omak Stampede 2015, Menze Pickering, invites you to a celebration that promises to be a super spectacular show - one you shouldn't miss! We look forward to seeing you in August!

Our American Native Heritage is something all Americans 🇺🇸should be proud to honor. Suicide Races, Whale Hunts, Sweat Lodges, Honoring Elders, Deep Spirituality, Courage, Resourcefulness, Arts and Crafts,?Survival, and a deep sense of Pride; the list of good things is very long. All Americans can learn from Native Elders and others to keep and defend our good traditions.

How do you know the horses are being abused? It’s the same as someone who uses spurs/whips and you white people are fine with it. Cause for some reason only western culture is acceptable when it comes to how people treat their animals or anything. The only animals being hurt here are the humans themselves which is fine if they’re ok with it. Many people choose to do extreme sports all the time that have risks. Stop being so intolerant

Just because you choose not to see this for what it really is, does not make me unexceptable to the sport....Just because people do it, does not make it right! Animals are forced into these sports , humans choose them, that is a huge difference, and if you can't see that, than you are blind to the welfare of animals my friend!!!!! And for your information, most people do abuse horses with whips and spurs cause they are too stupid to know how to properly train a horse or they are in a rush when training horses. Whips and spurs, if used as an extention of the body part using them, are perfectly acceptable, when used properly, to ask for advanced movements as in reining and dressage. They must also be used with as little force as neccessary to get the job done.

I thought loving your horses was a tradition, not abusing them. All I see is an excellent way to break a horses legs, which is a death sentence for a horse. Just because it's your "tradition", doesn't make it right. This is primitive and inexcusable abuse... I see nothing honorable or noble here except the poor horses who are willing to die for these idiots.

Yes. whipping a horse (torture horses) does not make them go any faster, it hurts them alot. So... wish the same. Same with bits and the saddle, weight of the human compare to the horse, 20% rule. While it's been said that horses are “thick-skinned,” Dr. Tong's research found that a horse's skin is thicker than human skin by only 1 millimeter. The primary difference, she found, was in the deep collagen tissue, not in the superficial pain-sensing fibers. The dermis of the horse - the layer of tissue below the epidermis, or outer layer of skin - is significantly thicker than that of humans.

You're full of it. It is EXTREMELY dangerous to run a horse at breakneck speed down a sharp incline. I've had horses all of my life, and I know that if a horse is truly afraid, they will do just about anything to get away from the object of their fear. Their fear is of their riders, who whip them and hurt them so they will do something that normally a horse would avoid at all costs.

Okay, I know I'm going to get a lot of heat for saying this, but you know what? I'm gonna say it anyway: this is horse abuse, plain and simple. Horses support the majority of their weight on their front legs. When they go charging down that hill, their legs are extended out completely, and they're going at full speed. That's several hundred pounds of pressure slamming down onto bones that were not designed to take it. If you still think that this is somehow good, or that the horses love this, or whatever other bullshit you're gonna try to throw out, then let me get on your back, beat the ever-loving crap out of you with a stick, make you run full speed down a sharp hill, and make you run like hell to the finish line, and we'll see if you're still having fun then.

Why do we say things like this and yet we ride? I think we should all learn to keep our mouths shut. Because if it was true abuse, it would be stopped. Not by what we think, but what higher officials say and what they change. Our opinions are just that. Opinions. I dont compete. I know some who do. I see this junk go on on both sides. Don't go watch The Man from Snowy River then. Horses are designed to run and jump over varied and rough terrain. It is the horse's adaptability, strength, speed, and courage that prompted man to domesticate them in the first place. I guess your liberal logic would make it okay for elephants and rhinos to be used in a race such as this?
