Hakius definitely has "a sound" entwined in the early Om / Sleep thing. saw them before & after his departure & also caught Sleep (minus Hakius). certainly preferred him in the band. that ride, that snare.

Well said. He is one of my favorite bassists, and certainly one-of-a-kind. His style is so distinctive and stimulating to the ear. His "solo" (not sure what you call it) starting around 7 minutes into Flight of the Eagle remains the most unreal piece of bass-playing I have ever heard.

dude he is a solid bass player, not really a technical bassist. But his lyrics and bass playing are aspiring, interesting, and it almost has this theroputic effect. thats why he's one of my favorite bassists. Thats why he is God

Awesome quality OM footage! I have been lucky to see Al play live twice (OM and Shrinebuilder), all I can say is that I have never seen a musician get so deeply entranced into a groove. It is inspiring to watch someone who is just channeling all his energy into a song.

Chris Hakius reminds me of John Bonham in the fact that he has a distinct sound/style, is pinpoint accurate in terms of timing and changes, and he does lots of very delicate ghostnote work that "fills in the gaps" making an overall fuller sound. Incredible really.

Cabbage i think both Al and Matt said in an interview that green matamps are too fragile and expensive to bring everytime on tour so they just switched to ampeg and orange . Still the most killer tone in the whole world.

why did Al switch to ampeg for his amps? don't get me wrong I love ampeg but the sound the green amps makes is incredible!

Cabbage i think both Al and Matt said in an interview that green matamps are too fragile and expensive to bring everytime on tour so they just switched to ampeg and orange . Still the most killer tone in the whole world.
@stormtrooped I think they might be A Series Zildjians but I'm not positive.

@000Luna000 lol thats the way its supposed to sound. and his singing are mantras meaning there like spiritual chants, not singing. OM is basically shaman drum and chanting but the doom metal version
