OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING MOTIVATION #3 Pyrros Dimas

This is the third episode in my unending ode to the sport that I am forced to love from afar. In all seriousness, recently I saw a video of the life changing affect that DBS (brain) surgery could have on me with Parkinson's. My very first hopeful thought was "Wow, someday I might be able to snatch and clean again." That is how much I love this sport, so I'm proud to share my homage to my favorite lifter, Pyrros Dimas. As a personal disclaimer, I really wanted the old training hall footage to include the sounds from the training as they really drive home how violent a lifter Dimas was. In every clip I found of this session, the video track played at roughly twice the speed of the audio. After spending hours separating the audio and slowing down the video, I got it to sync up perfectly in my editing UI, only to find it off by almost a full second every time I export it. Two days over the date I gave myself to have this done, I just have to accept it (I was never goin to work for ILM anyway). If you enjoy these videos, please like and subscribe / share. Next week I am returning to some personal motivational material, but if you have any theme suggestion for Oly WL Motivation #4, then please leave it in the comments below.

My DEEPEST respect! As a bulgarian i feel no rivalry to this guy, in fact he's my favourite athlete. Wrist surgery, knee injury, still manages to get bronze in 2004 - 175 Snatch, 202.5 C&J, what more can I say ? This guy is the best weightlifter in my eyes, having 4 consecutive olympic medals including 3 golds and 1 bronze...

Very well said. That final bronze was very close to being his 4th gold as well. If he had made that final jerk. My favorite moment is when he sits up, scoots forward to say goodbye to the bar. I can't believe no one else has ever made more of a moment out of that image. It's the best weightlifter of all time saying goodbye to the greatest sport in the world.

I had planned to leave my own shoes on a platform back then, but I haven't been able to do much competing in the past few years. Currently, I'm hoping to give it another run, but we'll see. A couple of surgeries on the horizon. Wish me luck, and thanks again.

heki koka For the Uneducated people out there.. Pyrrhus ( Ancient Greek: Πύρρος, Pyrrhos; 319/318-272 BC) was a Greek general and statesman of the Hellenistic period. He was king of the Greek tribe of Molossians, of the royal Aeacid house (from c. 297 BC) and later he became king of Epirus (r. 306-302, 297-272 BC). He was one of the strongest opponents of early Rome. Some of his battles, though successful, caused him heavy losses, from which the term Pyrrhic victory was coined. He is the subject of one of Plutarch's Parallel Lives. PYRROS DIMAS was born in 1971 in Himara, southern Albania (Northern Epirus), to ethnic Greek parents. So he is Greek straight from wikipedia!! Everything else is BULLSHIT FROM ALBANIANS WHO WISH HE WAS ALBANIAN... BUT I AM SORRY ...HE IS NOT...HE IS 100% GREEK! END OF DISCUSSION!!

After 1990, when ethnic-Greeks in Albania were able to travel south, they did in big numbers (180,000) of them. I got this from a 2004 Olympics documentary. But I am sure that his most rewarding moment was exactly that medal. Since these Olympics participation was the last , the audience greek and foreign cheered him for Eight (8)!!!! continuous minutes, making the medal award ceremony impossible to continue!!!!. Two songs. I will almost always list them in the video description above. Up to 4:43 is Bright Like Stars by Really Slow Motion. 4:44 to 5:45 is Remember Us from the soundtrack of 300. The snippet on the preview at the end is From the Ashes by Sons of Pythagoras. (The video in the preview never came together)

Going by your logic, every Albanian should be a champion. Dimas’ accomplishments are of his own. Stop trying to steal credit because of some arbitrary idea of being associated with a country or ethnicity.
