The internet tells me - He was 20 and picked up a 12 year old on facebook. He travelled to the UK to her house, somehow her parents weren't home, got her drunk, had sex multiple times. The victim had mental issues afterwards and tried to commit suicide. He pleaded guilty, was sentenced to 4 years but actually only served 1 year.

If I were Dutch, I'd be mortified. What if the host country doesn't allow criminals into their border? I hope he does get lrevented from attending. I know their social culture is different, their justice system is nothing like the US, but allowing this individual on a team to represent your country blows my mind. Disgraceful, and what about the poor 12 year old girl in all of this? It's saying to everyone, that you can still take part in the Olympic games, even if your a convicted rapist of a young 12 year old girl. What nightmares has this started for this poor girl and her family? It seems that if you are very good at sport, you can get away with any shocking crime. No, he was 19 an adult stop trying to make him more into a child and at the same time make the 12 year girl into more of an adult by saying well a lot of the 12 year old girls have much older boyfriends. These are all ploys to make him appear more child-like and her more adult-like so you can somehow rationalize that it wasn’t so bad what he did because they were basically the same age. The problem is that if he has served his sentence and has not committed any other crime his punishment has to be considered complete. Frankly I see plenty of 12 year old girls in the park where I live dressing in a way I certainly would not want a daughter of mine to do, indeed I was sitting in my front garden with a beer and 2 of them wanted me to give them a drink!!!
