Matpat till this day never turn on superchat or membership. Main reason being he saw his fanbase are mostly on the young side and never set out to exploit that. Just a nice dude.

Yeah, I remember he used to stream quite frequently and you're right he didn't even turn on the superchat function, he just stream to hang out and entertain his fans. Man I miss the old early gtlive days.

Mattpatt is like Blues clues will always be remembered and even if the show still going it will never be the same without him

Matpat lives in my area and visits my establishment at least once a month. I will pass on Ollies love the next time him and his family are in.

I used to have his direct contact when I worked for screenjunkies and was doing movie related content, but I think it has changed since then. That was like 8 years ago now. I'll reach out to few people im still in contact with and see if they can get me in contact as well.

Vergil in MatPat's voice is superb, considering he's also a dad now(except he cares about his child compared to Vergil).

Technically speaking, he’s still gonna be in Game Theory via behind the scenes. He just won’t be the face of, as he put it, the “Theorist” brand.

I know some youtube circles kinda merge into eachother but i wasn't expecting game theory and holomems lol

I didn't expect ollie to comment on matpat's retirement at all, this made me sad again

Just stumbled across this video. I saw matpat’s goodbye video and it does suck he’s stepping down as the face of the theorists channels. But the man completely deserves it. And Ollie might not have gotten to speak to him before he retires, but he’s not retired yet. At least, not until march 9 or 8 I forget which one. But maybe Ollie can try and work something out before then and finally get to talk to him before he leaves. Then she can finally check it off her list. I’m not sure what it would take for her to get to talk to Matpat. But I’m sure she can pull it off before match 8th or march 9th.

It's not like Matpat is completely retiring, he's just from being the host of the theory channels, im sure an opportunity for some sort of collab could arise, something with theorist wear would be most likely

I'm just glad he got to retire & is able to spend time with his family. The first YT creator I lost was TotalBiscuit and that still hurts.

And matpats not gone for good. He'll still probably appear from time to time in videos, and he's planning on making his own IP. Hes not "retiring" as much as he is just switching jobs, if that makes sense. Also it feels weird hearing vtuber terms used for non vtubers. Describing matpats retirement as "graduation" just feels weird, even though that's exactly what it is

I'm glad that he's not just going to be gone forever, He's making new stuff that he really wants to do but can't with everything else on his plate and focusing on his family more.

All good things come to an end at some point.

I understand the sadness about Matpat leaving, but I think people really shouldn't worry so much. I don't mean that they shouldn't be sad or care about it, but he is handing the channels off to trusted people. I can vouch for these people, and so can many others, like FootofaFerret, who use to work on the theorist team. Let me tell you, even if Matpat is leaving the channels, Amy, Tom, Lee, and Santi are just as passionate about it as well. I'm sure you'll all love Tom as the new Game Theorist. As sad as it is to see him go, at least give the new guys one video and see how you like em'. And if you don't Matpat will be coming on from time to time to do some big events. So while it won't be the same without him, Matpat hopes yall will watch Tom and the others. Please stay positive. The theory channels aren't going away.

Matpat’s FNaF theories companied me throughout my childhood, it’s sad to see him leaving but he’s smart choosing to leave at his prime instead of slowly fading away, it’s been 13 years, I can see why he chooses to retire now

I will say he did say he would have some other projects and he’s going to be managing the programs in the background so you might be able to still meet him. Who knows!

Matpat has been around for so long. I’ve watched him for around a decade and weirdly enough I’m not too sad about him retiring. It’s sad in a lot of ways but thinking about why he’s retiring and how he’s doing it on his own terms makes me smile a little. He’s shaped KZread so much that it’s crazy

I liked game theory from about the beginning, and I am sad he is retiring but he'll he deserves it for all the good content he has made

Honestly that announcement from Mat is the most painful gut punch ever for me... He's the one that made me interested in FNAF because of his theory videos... He will definitely be missed as the host of the Theory Channels but all we can do is send him off with a smile and support the new people who will continue the channels.

After the amount of titles I've seen announcing their retirements, I instantly knew it was real when I saw "Goodbye Internet" as the title. He is truly one of the amazing heroes of KZread, and "BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY" will always live on

MatPat has been super entertaining. Ollie's passion is infectious. I'm glad to be in a time where I can watch both.

There are just some things that are important to us. Sometimes things are more important to you than others. And those important things make us remember our own mortality, and in this case content creation. I think this is a bit deeper, and completely understandable, it’s what makes us human, it’s what makes a great content creator heart.

If someone could get matpat to agree to one last interview with Ollie that'd be amazing. She deserves to meet one of her heroes. It doesn't even have to be on stream just let her talk to him just once

awww, ollie’s so sweet. i grew up watching matpat, but his video didnt make me cry or anything. watching ollie express her feelings about his retirement though got me shedding a tear 🥲

Honestly, I'd think the same way as Ollie too, when FreddieW broke up (one of the pair getting down to making VR games) The OG Fine Bros slowly fading from the React gig and eventually from the entire company, which is why MatPat stepping down as a host is the end of another era of the YT scene.

I saw the video only like an hour after it came out and I couldn’t believe it. There’s been a lot of content creators retiring recently, but even though some of them are ones I was a bigger fan of, MatPat’s was the one that hit me the hardest. He’s been such a prominent figure on KZread for almost as long as I’ve been on the platform. I’ve known him and his channels for years, and even though I was never the biggest Game Theory fan, I *did* watch a lot of GTLive, and I’ve always thought MatPat himself was a sweet guy.

Generation change and (at least in my opinion) content creator changing culture into more number more money but the community easily disconnected from the influencer(hard to build solid community now) soo it's like more stressful environment but with less rewards(satisfaction wise)

Hes not gone gone, he just wants to take more of a producer role in the company.

Love or hate him, MatPat 100% stablished himself with very deep roots on youtube, and played the youtuber game like few ever did or will. Him retiring from the cameras could very well be felt through the entire platform for a while.

Matpats influence was crazy. Gonna miss the guy. No one's gonna say theory the same way

This is actually the first time I've ever seen a VTuber bring up MatPat. I think; Like ever. It feels like a distant memory, but I also knew that MatPat was one of Ollie's favorite content creators! Me personally speaking, when I saw the video my first thought was (this is his last "That's just a theory, a GAME THEORY"), but my second thought was more a feeling of relief, and I was happy for him! 😁 We'll miss you, MatPat. ❤️

I feel ya there, Ollie. It was just after I'd started recovery and was reconnecting with the world when I stumbled onto his channel, completely by accident. I think it was his "Mario is a Communist" video (which is still one of my favorites despite - or maybe because how insanely outlandish it is), and I have been following his channels ever since (outside of Style Theory; props to them for coming up with such a unique concept, but I've never been one for fashion). What's funny, though, is that this isn't hitting me nearly as hard as Sanananana's graduation, though. Maybe it's because I understand him a lot better, being a guy in his age range, but I'm actually really happy for him, and although I'll miss him being the face of The Game Theorists, I believe this is the right thing for him to do. To the fools trying to dig up old shite to try and cancel him, though... *GET SOME HELP.*

part of me was kind of hoping that one day we might see a holocure or vtuber fan game theory or a film theory about vtubers in general and that's how more then gura nd mori end up meeting him or talk to him. with him maybe hitting the different branches of different vtuber companies and indie ones for research.

on the Gura and Mori interview by MatPat, they don't, both say a difference person show up do the interview with them and bring the recoding to MatPat for hosting that 1 ep

I hope he finds out about this, cause I think he'd at least say a few encouraging words to her. Someone with social media get on that btw

People keep talking about Matpat as if he is going to die, he said he will still show up from time to time and will keep working on other projects behind the scenes along the others.

Ollie is a fan at heart. A heart that lives so brightly on her sleeve that you can't ignore it. I hope no matter what, she never ever loses that. Thanks for the comments, Ollie. And for Matt, I hope he enjoys his retirement. That said I'm sure we'll see him around somewhere.

Gonna be honest. I found him before this whole FNAF thing. Its was a theory about Bioshock. I saw the video and when that man whoms voice I heard for over 10 years choke up... man, I almost cried. Almost. Heck, even when Sana graduated, it wasn´t even close. But that... that hit hard. Its not only him, that will be going. Its a part old KZread, a part of the old internet that will go along with him. The time of wacky ideas, 480p and 720p videos, homepages you could edit, have video answers below the video, lightsaber likebar etc. Its was a simpler time and because of nostalgia - a better time. Seeing another symbol of that just vanish... Man, I need to stop writing...
