Cruel Summer raised so high this year's Billboard Hot 100 chart thanks to The Eras Tour, literally started around the top 50 and then sent to radios, and when the summer began it eventually raised up to the top 10 and peaking top #3. So it went up thanks to the show and to the summer, but it probably would go down

I can give a pass to Fast Car, as Luke Combs has said it's his favorite song to cover, and didn't even intend for it to become a hit. No music video or anything, just got big I'm guessing because his voice and Fast Car's melody is one of the best things mainstream country has going for it; even if it's not new or original.

A real Rick Beato moment. This was a fun segment! I would definitely be down to see more in the format. It’s a personal interest of mine to see what the biggest tracks of the moment are and how I relate to the tracks personally so this is a nice extension of that to get your takes on the ten individual singles. And yeah, I’d agree, there’s no songs that are outright unlistenable this week which I’d say is pretty alright by Billboard standards. Nothing that makes me question humanity. Honestly, been bumping Olivia’s new record since it dropped and only enjoying it more as time passes. It might be time to admit I’m a 27yo guy who is a fan. 🧐

some covers are just for the musician sharing a song that is special to them and paying homage to it. so I think Luke's cover of "Fast Car" is fine and didn't NEED to do something bold. kinda just blew up cuz I guess a lot of country fans and young folks aren't familiar with the original.

I think my issue with this format is that it’s going to get hella repetitive if you’re going to do this weekly or even monthly, as mainstream charts nowadays tend to be very static at the very top. The exceptions are the album bomb weeks - and you would probably review those albums on the main channel anyways. However, I’d like to see you periodically review some of the genre charts, especially rock. The difference between the acts you promote in your reviews and the actual bands that are thriving in mainstream rock is night-and-day.

That’s the thing I actually think is great about the social media/streaming era. You have all these older classics and hidden gems getting another shot of life if they happen to blow up from a show/movie/TikTok trend/whatever. There is a lot I don’t care for about the modern industry and how we consume media, but that is one of the actual benefits imo. Like, when Running Up That Hill started getting all this play out of nowhere (as someone who wasn’t watching Stranger Things) it was really gratifying for me as a fan of Kate Bush and that younger generations were discovering such a great artist and I’m sure many became fans as a result.

@@kingvampstan Morgan has like, 2 songs I can name that I think are good (7 Summers & Don't Think Jesus) but everything else is just absolutely not interesting. He may be the most successful artist of the year, but he's definitely not the most popular. There's a big difference and I think that difference has shown more than ever this year.
