I enjoyed your review from London, my friend and this is my favourite musical of all time. Leonard Rossiter played THe Undertaker and was one of England's finest character characters though an absolute perfectionist but died in his 50's. Peggy Mount was The Matron in The Workhouse and was a regular figure in many TV Productions back then. Harry Secombe, a superb Welsh Singer played Mr.Bumble and was part of the Comedy Troupe::THE GOONS who were the predecessors and inspiration for Monty Python:)

Hello! Thank you so much for watching and for providing those extra tidbits I couldn't touch on in the video due to time. All those actors were brilliant. Secombe had QUITE the singing voice!

theres more gone into oliver than any other movie, tale of two cities is also class, not forgetting the greatest western ever made, once upon a time in the west

Jack Wild and Ron Moody were both nominated for best supporting actor and best actor respectively but did not win. The winners in those two categories - for the films of 1968 - were Jack Albertson and Cliff Robertson. Jack Wild looked about 12 but was pushing 17 when filming began.

I stand corrected! Thank you for the clarification. For some reason, I read somewhere that Jack Wild had won, my mistake! Thanks for watching. :)

This was the ONLY G-rated movie to win Best Picture. The MPAA rating system was officially rolled out shortly before this movie was produced. You're right about the reprise of "Reviewing the Situation" in the stage show. Also, in the stage show, "Oom-Pah-Pah" is what is known as an irrelevant act opener.

Heck yeah! As someone who acted in a community theatre production of Oliver, I am definitely aware of the placement of Oom Pah Pah and how fun of a number that was! Lol. Makes WAY more sense to have it in the story where they had it in this film. Thanks for watching and for the comment! :)

Jack Wild did not win the Oscar that year. Jack Albertson won the best supporting actor award for the subject with roses that year.

The 1968 version is absolutely wonderful and I am nor a great movie or musical fan but this is based in "Victorian" Late 19th Century, London.
