Oliver Samuels (born 4 November 1948) is a Jamaican comedian and actor. He is often described as the Jamaican "King of Comedy", performing both stand-up and comic theatre. Samuels found fame on the popular Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation's television series Oliver At Large, created by producer Calvin Butler and playwright Aston Cooke. Nine of the thirteen episodes of the original series, including the pilot episode, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, were written by prolific Jamaican playwright, Patrick Brown. In this series, Samuels played his alter ego Olivius Adams, aka Oliver. The series featured sketches from Oliver's exploits, often with his sidekick, Maffi--a character created by Patrick Brown. Oliver has subsequently appeared in several Patrick Brown plays, including Large Abroad, Oliver's Posse (1999), Oliver and Pinocchio (2001), and Oliver and the Genie (2002). - Wikipedia

@@xosassy7100 Yes indeed, I understand and agree. I was not disagreeing with you. Oliver's art, as many other remarkable comedians have impacted me greatly. As Steve Harvey, D. L. Hughley, etc. labelled themselves "kings of Comedy" and not "kings of 'american' Comedy", I felt Oliver's talent and influence also transcends him beyond just a great Jamaican Comedian, but one of the greats....period. Not in any way down playing his Jamaican culture. With that accent I don't think you can! 😂😂😂

*I love the airport scene where she asked "would you like a box?" and he said "box who", for my fellow Americans "box" in carribean is like a hit someone like boxing.* *Oliver, Claffy, etc.**Used to watch the shows on VHS over and over, I think I still have the VHS tapes in storage.* *I was talking to my cousin the other day and we were talking about how they don't do shows like this anymore, just put on a stage show like Tyler Perry did and the crowds will come.* *I stole my Uncle's VHS copy of Smile Orange but years later sent him the DVD as soon as it was out, sorry unc.* *The most mainstream to me that was close to the Cosby show was a British show called Desmonds, loved watching that, had a Guyanese father, i think Trini mother and other island and African actors.*
