Howdy buddy from the uk 🇬🇧 my family are from south Italy I love the scent of olive wood when I’m working it by hand I use no electric tools just plane old fashioned work with my Barlow pocket knives and files and a pebble yes it’s hard going but I’m used to it especially as I carve Irish shillelaghs that’s very hard wood 👍🇬🇧🇮🇹🐾🦊

Leaving the pith running down the center of the spoon isn’t gonna cause it to break??

I think so too! Thank you.
4:35.. be careful using that craft knife on wood., the blades are prone to snapping in half when you apply force, and because the blade is so thin it is still razor sharp after it breaks. As the blade snaps the knife slips and you have a razor sharp edge moving uncontrolled in an unanticipated direction. they were originally designed to cut Lino flooring and carpets, in England in most professional industries they are a banned tool because of the amount of accidents people have had using them. If you walk onto a building site in England the only people on site with these knives are the carpet fitters.

If it’s going to be a useable spoon, wouldn’t the olive oil used to seal it eventually turn and go bad, rancid, etc?

I only painted it a little, the wood absorbs it and becomes dry and nothing remains. Thank you.

@@woodworkcrafts Thank you for your reply. I’ve been getting into spoon making and I have made quite a few. Some usable, some unrecognizable as spoons. Lol. But I’m getting to the point where I can make a half decent one and wanted to just know what to use to seal an eating spoon. Thanks again.

What does that mean?
You're a good wood Craftsman but not that good if you are smart you could have gotten two spoons out of that wood they just cut
This is what I dislike about wood carvings. They consumed a lot of wood for very small things. Are they concerned about the environment? The trees? Etc? I think this should be strictly regulated by the governments.

Pruning olive trees is a must. To get rid of unwanted twigs. There are those who make antique from trimmed branches, and there are those who transform them into natural charcoal. It is not as corrupt as you think. You can watch this : kzread.info/dash/bejne/mK2qr89yfLqYXZc.html
