Usyk is truly an all time great, i mean to even achieve that in 22 fights, becoming undisputed twice? Moving up into heavyweight? Beating the best and collecting all the infinity stones in 6 fights? Just , crazy.

Fury technically was held up by the ropes 3-4 times so it have been a 10-7 rds or worst. Also the ref asked Fury to step forward be he never did. In fact the ref walked TOWARDS Fury. He could have stopped the fight right there. Additionally if the ref did not give a standing 8 count the first 3 times why do it on the 4th time? Usyk would have had a full minute to complete the job instead of 10 secs. It This act actually saved Fury. If the ref was consistent he should have allowed Usyk to complete the final 10 sec which seemed like a sure KO. In any event it was competitive but clear victory for Usyk. Hail to the new King.

Yeah it was very weird but still technically ok to call a knock down. Could have been stopped and nobody would’ve contested it.

I agree. But I also saw something during that period. Usyk was holding back. I think he expected it to be called and didn't want to hurt Fury, but eventually came to the conclusion the ref was going to make him hurt fury for real. Just watch how he stutters to punch and holds back a few times, then finally steps forward right before the ref stopped him. I hate to call things conspiratorial on behalf of the refs and helping fury. BUT. That shizz smelled fishy AF. Go back and watch it. Usyk could have ended him, I think that is just his sportsmanship shinning through. This dude is a great champion. I am glad to see Usyk win and for the world to actually have someone we can ALL look up to without any scandal.
Good to see a boxing podcast with logic and integrity. Keep making content!

Appreciate that more than you know!
The main takeaway is that Usyk's winning streak reveals the structural flaw in the heavyweight roster. Usyk has the 12-round stamina of a lower-category fighter and related attributes like evasive skills and workrate. This is enough to dismantle all of the current heavyweights who inevitably slow down in the later rounds, in fact may even be vulnerable to being knocked out themselves in the final rounds. I wonder if this will change the heavyweight landscape for the next generation of fighters. The only freakish thing about Usyk is the fact that he can take heavyweight punches without crumbling, and not many other cruiserweights or middleweights may be capable of that.
It wasn’t close. It was competitive but not close.

Guys you are crazy giving first rounds to Fury. He didn’t land any clean shots, you don’t give points for fainting and touching the guard. While Usyk was landing both on body and head. Even rounds 4 and 7 could go either way, with more shots landed by Usyk. 4 can be given to Fury because direction of the fight was swinging to his advantage and 7th to Usyk cause he was starting turning the fight to his advantage at that round. Fury clearly won 2 rounds, and other 2 are swinging. The rest was 100% clearly Usyk’s having more landed shots, cleaner shots and more impactful ones

Chris: "He was talking normally after the fight..." Fury: "Happy New Year!"
The only controversial thing about the reffing in round 8 is that the ropes held fury up three times before the ref decided to step in. If the ref wanted to exercise that rule why wait until it’s the third time they held him up? Considering Usyk looked like he was about to end it I think it’s an understandable controversy.
Also let’s not forget that Usyk is 2 years old than fury and HAS been visibly slowing down since the first AJ fight. He still did *that*.

IMO Usyk defeated Fury 7 rounds to 5. Then he also had the knockdown in round 9 so in my opinion it wasn't super close. It should have been a unanimous decision. What was interesting is that both of them won four rounds in a row. I had Usyk winning three out of the remaining four rounds though.🎉
Usyk is all-time boxing greatness. He slayed giants and went into the lion's dens to do it! The achievements are like completing a video game. So glad I could follow that whole professional career.

Greatest of the Era? I dunno the Era is far from over. BUT. He is the best champion I have seen. He is very worthy of looking up to. Absolutely the best role model to become a linear undefeated heavyweight champion. The grace and just positivity that radiates from the dude. It's nice. There isn't a bunch of scandal around him, just an amazing boxer. Truly worthy of the title, Champion!
Gave Usyk all the first three rounds. You only give any of that to Fury because you think that throwing a punch equals a point. You need to land a punch to score. Fury wasn't scoring, he was getting punched over and over. Not only that but cleaner, sharper punches. Fury got the middle rounds and then went downhill from the seventh on. Saved by the ref in the ninth and the bell. Fury didn't lose so much as he was beat and well KNOCKED THE HELL OUT!

The issue with the knockdown is it came too late and allowed Fury to be saved by the bell . The ropes held up up multiple times before that so a knockdown should have been called earlier . Usyk might have been able to get 2 knockdowns with more time and maybe a finish

I completely agree that we are witnessing 3 all time greats. Usyk, Bud, and Inoue are all so good and have a case for being number 1 P4P. I had Bud as number 1 but I agree with him. Usyk has a strong case for being the best now. We are in a golden age of boxing with so many greats that could be considered the best. So happy for Usyk and both Bud and Crawford are such great champions and humble. Love them so much.
you guys talking about rematch, haven't you guys heard fury backtrack and say he might not want to run it back? Frank warren said we might not see it again as well. Additionally, Fury mentioned on ariel helwani show that his next fight was signed and hinting at joshua but I assume that is unlikely now and not sure how it wouldve worked with the rematch clause anyways. Either way, from the info available it really seems like fury doesn't want the fight again.
Norman Jr. Vs Giovanni?? Great Fight!

The guy on the left is insane. Objectively speaking Fury won three rounds any more than that, Then you're just giving him close rounds just because. I've seen this fight five times Usyk easily wins the first three. On fight night I gave Fury either two or three I believe. But upon further rewatching not even close. Usyk was tapping Fury to the body every few seconds and the commentators simply wouldn't talk about it. The 7th is the turn around round, Usyk wins this one. He kisses the cross between rounds and comes out and breaks his nose. Usyk wins the rest of the fight. Some people give Fury round 12 because he did better than he did in 11 but he didn't win it.
Navarrete vs Kambosos!! Make it happen. Battle of the overachievers.
Crawford Spence wasn’t competitive but it didn’t suck lol but yeah usyk greatest heavyweight of this era greatest cruiser weight ever
I said multiple times before the fight that I don't see Usyk having heavy hands to hurt him with one shot and I don't see him landing combinations a lot to hurt him. The punch in the 9th round that really hurt him was as hard as it gets. I was wrong. It is clear that any professional boxer above 168 if he plants the feet and hits full power can knock anyone out but how often do you get in a position where you land such a shot especially on a guy who is so much taller than you. I wasn't really sure how good Usyk is - he beat some solid guys at cruiser but I didn't consider any of them exceptional - Briedis, Huck, Gassiev, Bellew. Very solid fighters but not really levels above anyone at this level. Then he beat AJ which was impressive but AJ really does not like to get hit and it was a competitive fight. I assumed Fury if he was outboxed would just walk forward and trade and come out stronger due to his size. Had a bit of hope when I saw Briedis giving it to Opetaia and I thought maybe I am underestimating all the guys Usyk beat. Then Fury was looking really good in the middle rounds and Usyk found a way
Usyk reminds me of Hagler, he's always chasing the opponents down relentlessly.

Great comparision
The ref in the 9th overall did the right thing. I will say, he put his hands on Usyk 2 times during that clobbering. He never should have done that unless he was stopping it. Gives the appearance of stopping it to both fighters. Which shouldnt have happened. Other than that, I see no issue. Furys legs gave out, finally. He hit the ropes, and the ref calls it a KD and starts the count. Seems like that went as it should have. Respect to both. Congrats to Usyk.

If it is a easy as you say to demolish the heavyweight division why are there so few successful cruiserweight (or even middle weight) boxers doing so? What happened to the "good bigger boxer will always beat smaller one". Styles make fights. Usyk is fighting much bigger, more dangerous men that have a lot of physical advantages and he's beating them and has never received a "knock down". Besides, Apples and Oranges. The E. Europeans favor the Olympic Games. Usyk fought in 2 and got his gold medal. His amateur career is extensive and impressive. And lets be honest... NO ONE will ever duplicate what Usyk has done. Winning what he won and how he won on the road in as few fights. It's insanely impressive. Time to lay the myth to rest that Fury can manhandle Usyk and is physically stronger. Fury tried it and it didn’t work. Usyk was able to break the clinch and hit him and outland Usyk in 7 rounds plus knock him down. Fury mauling style only works with tall light guys that have no core strength like Wilder. Usyk built from the ground up. Strong leg and core strength is where it’s at. Fury is NOT physically stronger than Usyk. He’s just fatter. If he tries what he did with Wilder he will get stopped. Usyk is too good and nimble for Fury’s mauling illegal tactics to work.
