I love it when companies make their improved parts backward compatible. Not many are willing to do that since they want you to buy an all new device. Good job Woodland Mills.

Good day Sandy. Always look forward to your videos.i have the same sharpener but I called woodland mills and ordered a new stone that never needed to be profiled i have been using it for eight months now with no problems. I changed the drive motor and now I sharpen a blade in seven minutes compared to fifteen minutes.

Thanks Sandy that looks better but I can't wait to see the blade cut wood, also how it is working after the small adjustments, like the grinder when it first touches then follows the complete profile all the way until it finishes on the gusset, glad woodland Mills have done individual cams rather than like some companies try and sell you a complete setup at a much higher price that you just don't need.
I will get the new cams for mine. Thanks for the heads up

Hi Jon! Happy New Year sir
Looks like a clever design of sharpener. You might need to dress the stone a bit where it hits the most but eventually it wears in as well. I use a fully adjustable Dino profiler that was pretty trick in its day.

Funny you mention that , just started snowing heavy a few minutes ago
I think you've got this figured out, Sandy.As evidenced by the small amount of grinding, you aren't GRINDING a new tooth profile, all you're doing is dressing the face of the tooth. I doubt you're cutting deep enough into the gullet to 'stop' a stress fracture, but you aren't hurting it, either. The best solution would entail reshaping your grinding stone so it dresses both the tooth face and full arc of the gullet, but probably unnecessary. On my (circular) saw blade sharpener I don't grind all the way into the gullet because I'm only sharpening a carbide tooth. The gullet never comes in contact with the wood.
@sawingwithsandy

That makes sense Carl. I may have to give sharpening of circular saw blades a try. I have a stack of blades here ready to go

You're right about just dressing things up. Some days especially with my chainsaw sharpener I get carried away and start forgetting it's not necessary an angle grinder haha

Good afternoon Sandy it looks like it is doing its job pretty good how often to you sharpen a blade even if you don't hit any nail myself I don't do the sharpening so I use my blade to the max I will cut 25 to 35 pine logs with one blade and at time more I am talking a average of 14 to 20 in in diameter logs well have a great day
@sawingwithsandy
6 ай бұрын
I find that if the blade stays clean and the wood doesn’t have dirt in the bark I could saw quite a few logs with it. I also find that if the blade hits dirt it’s pretty much ready for a Resharpwn almost immediately
Sandy do you check the set before sharpening as well as after?
@sawingwithsandy
6 ай бұрын
Hi Jeff, if my blade was cutting well when I took it off I don’t always check the set before sharpening it and putting it back on the sawmill. However when I do set it I check that before sharpening

If you had not taken so much off the front edge of the stone, would it have also just touched the top of the tooth on the way out in a single pass? Normally they say to sharpen the entire tooth profile not just the face and gullet. I have the same sharpener and generally need 2 passes to get the full tooth shape if I do not want a heavy grind in one area.
@sawingwithsandy
6 ай бұрын
I tried to get the whole profile but need some slight adjustments to get all in one pass I think
I just called to order the additional cams. Now they’re charging $25 here in the states. Why did I wait 2months?
Howdy Sandy. How many times can a blade be resharpened, from dead dull to almost new? Thanks
@sawingwithsandy

Hi Will. Good question. Think it depends on the blade manufacture. I'd say a solid 4+ sharpens though at minimum
Just out of curiosity Have you ever tried to sharpen a blade on the mill with a flap disk on an angle grinder?

Not sure how important speed of a sharpener would be if it can run unattended. Put a blade on it, go do something else, and if it takes ten minutes or two hours it's all the same to me.
Too sharp of stone relief is why your not gri ding gullet
