The older one has a warmer sound to it, it would definitely create the round tones you’d want

Contrary to many comments before mine, the new one seems to be clearer which can be friendlier to the recording studio. Sometime, clearer sound can be associated with “now” or “newer” quality instead of recordings from the 1980. But then, it’s truly up to you, because at the end I’m sure it will turn out beautiful. Pick one that you think you will play better on. 😊

I agree on the fact that the older one seems to have more depth and I like that

According to my first impression the old one had a much more characteristic timbre. My second and third impression (with another speaker), did not change my mind. The modern piano sounded more common, and therefore less special. So, for this beautiful etude, I would choose the 100 year old piano. It would be interesting to hear also a fast and sprankling etude on both piano's.

Older Steinway!👍

The older one has a deeper, richer tone and incredible timbre. I would absolutely use the older Steinway.

I'm no piano expert but I loved the old one. It's just something about the sound's character

The older one! Sounds warmer and softer, especially for the Romantic era music. 😍 🎶

Amazingly, the old one has those round tones. If anyone has synesthesia, this is a goldenrod tone. 🎹🔆

The older one! It sounds just as good if not better and mentioning on your first album that it's performed on a 100 year old Steinway adds to the romantic mystique. I have a 1948 Steinway L and it will make you cry when you hear it, they are unbelievable instruments!

I like the older piano for the same reasons others do. However it also pays homage to the timeless character of the music.
