I’m a brand new fan. I’ve just about finished my first play through of Undertale, and I honestly understand why this game has come to mean so much to so many people. Everything about it feels like a labor of love: the music, the artwork, and the characters; everything about Undertale draws you in and tells a meaningful story. Now I get to dig through all the fan content from the last six years - I’m happy but also incredibly frightened to actually be in this fandom now

In comparison to most fandoms, Undertale's is extremely tame and just does the same things most normal fandoms do. Say something like, I dunno, FNAF, on the other hand? Yeah, yikes. That fandom is REALLY bad.

@@stainedshirt1207 Again, saying that is just calling the sky blue. Nothing the Undertale fandom has done is anything near the stuff of other fandoms. Like, "weird shipping" is just a really nothing point. Every fandom does that. Undertale isn't special. You just sorta realize when you get older that getting caught up on shipping is just a really bad use of your time. Though I will agree that overtime the community has definitely matured, and that's because at the time most of us were really into the game, we were all kids. We've grown up with this game, and we're seeing the community reflect that with the maturity it's had surrounding Deltarune.

something i have noticed is how when he releases something, the internet will talk about it for atleast 6 months and move on. and then when he finally releases something AGAIN, the internet goes crazy for another 6 months

The journey with Undertale was one of the most special events of my life by far, I still remember launching the game for the first time back then... so much has happened, so much... animations, fanarts, songs, comics, fangames, theories, gameplays... I can't even find words to describe how special this experience is to me, and knowing it is still going to keep growing bigger because of Deltarune, I really have no words to express the amount of joy all of this gives me... I can't thank Toby enough for this, this feeling will forever be one of the best feelings I've ever felt, and UNDERTALE will forever be one of the most special memories of my life.

There was an old blog post of Toby when he was updating about his hand condition a couple of years ago. He also included the progress of Chapters 2 to 3. 2 at that time was nearly finished, and 3 was almost finished. So maybe it may take 2 years or even less to see the bundle of Chps 3, 4, and 5.

I watched this back in 2021 and thought the ending was just a joke Now it's ACTUALLY 2024, and Toby MIGHT release chapter 3

It's 2024 now. We have full Undertale Yellow. It's only a matter of time before we get Deltarune 3: The Part Where Ralsei Ends You.

undertale came out when i just started to use youtube, and oh BOY was i obsessed with it. like i watched every possible undertale thing i could find on youtube and i once drew a bloody knife because i was like “look im chara im soooo edgy and cool” (it was 1 concerning and 2 it was cringe and 3 i still am obsessed but not as obsessed)

Queen has single handedly caused more laughs from me then in any other game ever made, (story based of course), she is the epitome of comedy gold and a wholesome villain

I’ve never given up on undertale. I mean sure i’ve watched/consumed less and less undertale content the more years have past, but there was always something new. Like a new fangame,comic dub, original/original+remixes of songs, a new episode of glitchtale, etc so i never really lost the undertale spirit. And that was even after deltarune released. But im glad that toby’s got his game back on. I seriously can’t wait for the next 3 chapters…. In about 3 years.

And in 2023 there's Undertale Yellow

Seeing every "former" Undertale fan I knew (including myself) go absolutely INSANE over Deltarune was an incredible experience. Like, I held off on Chapter 1 but when 2 dropped, I binged 1 and 2 near back to back over the course of 2 nights

@@elestupidox1605 Compare: Undertale only had its release in 2015, and within the consecutive years came the ports for PlayStation 4, XBox One, and Switch, and then came Deltarune in 2018 and 2021. FNAF, in comparison, had two games in 2014, two games in 2015, two games in 2016...and then the releases slowed down a little, and now it's mostly yearly releases. With that many games, up to 2021, FNAF has eleven games with the next installment coming out this year. That is a record for a franchise. Unless they're owned by a huge company, most game franchises wouldn't have so many entries in the span of seven years.

I don't think Toby Fox games overstayed their welcome at all, though, or will. They aren't lazy cashgrab rereleases or the same game over and over with small changes. The devs pour their heart into everything, we're still discovering little secret details or bits of code that must have taken some serious time and effort to put in, and the characters have seriously fun personalities and dialogue. Sure, you could argue Deltarune is just another Undertale with slightly different characters and plot, but still the same style of humour or whatever, with the same archetypes rather than the exact same gameplay/lore. But you can't deny it's definitely headed in a different direction and it's more a sister game than a sequel or prequel and that the wait is always worth it.

@@beththedarkmage3359 That's not actually what I'm trying to say. I'm saying that Undertale/Deltarune, like FNAF, is one of the few chainbase indie games that has remained relevant over the years. But, while Undertale and Deltarune have had slow, focused, and passionate work put into them for each release...FNAF has had so many installments, and they are much more cashgrabby, regardless of what they bring to the table in terms of gameplay or lore.

This game teaches us an important lesson that world can be better or worse depending on what we do. But it also showed us how easy it is to blame other’s for our actions that fiscally imputed because “I can’t be the bad guy” “I was just Curious”. And when someone reprimands us for those actions or is corrupted by them we use them as an bin for all our actions. In my opinion those are important lessons that got from Toby Fox and I will be forever great full!!!

The fact that Clover and Red show up next to eachother here, and that Red makes a cameo in the full version of UTY is just TOO perfect.

The hype, the music, the feelings, the fan games, arts and the story were brilliant!Toby created an absolute masterpiece that will always be in our hearts!

Undertale has been a life changing game for me, it's given me both my favorite game and favorite piece fan-media (see also: Glitchtale) as well as revealing to me the obscure genre of videogames that I really enjoy. It's a shame that so few games have been released that follow in its footsteps, but just as things were getting a bit boring Deltarune comes out and it's fantastic! Can't wait to see what Toby comes out with in future chapters and any other projects he makes in the future.

I will never give up on such an amazing game. I guess you could say *but it refused...*

I was 22 years old when Undertale came out and I was going through some very VERY fucked up stuff back then. And even if it sounds weird playing Undertale helped me to understand that many things that we want to control can't be controlled, that it's okay to take some time for yourself and that you just need to keep going at your own pace because in the end, there's people that care about you even when you feel the most lonely person in the world. And overall, if you want a change in your life you have to be the one that starts making that change real. I will never give up in my Undertale/Deltarune love, and I perhaps love even more Deltarune than Undertale but that first game really really bonded with me at so many levels that it will always have a special place in my heart, my soul and in how much I appreciate the mental help it gave me. Now I'm 28 and I fucking enjoyed Deltarune (it was also a very special game for me like it was Undertale but in a more easy going way) and oh my god Toby Fox so many THANKS for giving us the two first chapters just for free, you absolute LEGEND and I can't wait to slap my money into your bank account when chapters 3-4-5 releases. Oh and the OST from both games are absolute bangers.

You know that feeling when something is so good that it makes you feel overwhelmed almost to the point you don't want to experience the thing because it's so awesome and you can't take it? Undertale and Deltarune are one of those things. After I finished Undertale I didn't know what to do with myself. I was so mentally exhausted yet charged at the same time. Literally a feeling of "so good it hurts."

Dude that beginning felt like a blast from the past. Even after all these years i still love Undertale/Deltarune and the community, yes it had it's toxic start but I'm glad most fans learned from that.

It keeps happening. Just "Alright I think I'm out of the fanbase-" and then it comes back and I'm right back into becoming undertale trash.

Seeing the UTY reference from a video from 2 yrs ago is amazing
