Old-timer sugar beet harvest with Schmotzer, Stoll & Kleine | St. Bovem 2020

Dutch classic tractor club Stichting Bovem organised their third old-timer sugar beet harvesting event on the 10th of October 2020. Four classic 1-row sugar beet harvesters were seen in action from the 70s and 80s. A Kleine Automatic 5000 and Automatic 5003, Schmotzer BK 400 Super and Stoll V50. There was a wide variety of tractors at work: Fordson & Ford, Renault, Fiat, Massey Ferguson, Steyr and more. The field was a bit wet in places so an extra tractor was needed sometimes.

Beet harvesting was my childhood, best father/son time ever, I steered and dad took care of the rest, this was when I fell in love with tractors...
So zu arbeiten kann man sich kaum noch vorstellen. In Zeiten von Lohn. -Und Grossbetrieben . War schon eine schöne Zeit.

What was the reason for the covers over the sides of the tractor motors?

These guide warmth from the engine to the driver so he has warm feet! Typically Dutch but it works very well from the days tractors didn't have cabs.
why didnt you film the Steyr?
