대댓 보니까 아주 웃기는 중국 친구가 있네요? 백제 수도 이름부터가 남부여이고 고구려의 평양 천도 이후 국호인 고려(KOREA)를 왕건이 그대로 계승했고 아예 1593년 임진왜란 당시에는 아예 명나라 사신 유원외가 조선이 조상인 보다 국력이 못하다는 기록도 남아있지만 아무튼 고구려는 한국과 관계없다니요.ㅎㅎ

This channel is always interesting and educating to say the least. Now, getting to the subject or related to, regarding an expression that has a close meaning (as I understand...), both in russian and korean, "hara-saeo" or "hara-jeo" (excuse my latin letter spelling here), roughly meaning "Do You agree??" Or "agreed then?", Finally make sense to me, with the strong influences of the region on both (tungus, evenk, manchurian??....). Constructive corrections or clarifications more than welcome here. Great job as always.

Your channel says your name is Sean Kim so I am guessing that you are Korean too like me lol. I just want to say thank you sooooo much for these videos. I have always wanted to know more about my Korean culture and history but most history taught in the USA are about Western countries or the US instead of Korea or nearby countries like China. So, I am very grateful that you make all these videos. I hope that you don't mind me asking but, is this your job? I mean, do you get paid by KZread or are you a volunteer? Just curious. Are you a history teacher or plan to become a professor in Asian history? I want to be a writer about different cultures around the world like a travel writer but I am not sure if there are many jobs out there so I will probably go to graduate school after college to get a normal day job in business and just write on the side as a hobby. The name of Korea comes from Goguryeo (BC 37 or 3rd century - AD 668), the name of which had been later changed by its king into Goryeo, or/and Goguryeo was sometimes called Goryeo, even before Silla unified three kingdoms(Goguryeo, Baekje[BC 18 - AD 660], smaller Silla[BC 57-AD 676]). Some rulers of Goguryeo founded Balhae after the fall of Goguryeo, claiming it to be a successor of Goguryeo. Goguryeo or the "first" Goryeo originated from Buyeo, and Buyeo was founded at the place of Go-Joseon. "Old" Joseon or Go-Joseon was the first Korean kingdom and its name was just "Joseon" at its time, but for distinguishing from "later"/"Yi" Joseon, it is now called "Go(=old)-Joseon". Baekje came from the royal family of Goguryeo. When greater/unified Silla (AD 676 - 935) weakened later, "new" Goryeo replaced the unified Silla, claiming that the new royal court succeeded "old" Goryeo (i.e., Goguryeo). "New" Goryeo (AD 918-1392) was a trade country where even muslim merchants came for businesses from the Middle East and its name was known to foreign countries as "Core", "Corea", and current "Korea" etc. "Yi" Joseon (1392-1897)replaced "new" Goryeo, with the same name of the "old" Joseon kingdom. Sum: Go("old")-Joseon->Buyeo->three kingdoms->greater Silla (+ Balhae in the North, which also claimed to succeed the fallen Goguryeo, but when Balhae fell later, its rulers were accepted by "new" Goryeo)-> "new" Goryeo -> "Yi" Joseon or just Joseon -> 20th century history of colonialism(1910-1945), provisional government (1919-45), division into north/south Koreas(1945-), Korean republic-building, north/south (1948-), and war in 1950-3, and now.

Excellency: 　 I have the honor to advise Your Excellency that the Government of the United States of America has taken note of the Proclamation issued by the President of the Republic of Korea on January 18, 1952 regarding Korean sovereignty over the continental shelves and certain water areas adjacent to the mainland and insular coasts of the Republic of Korea. 　 I am directed to inform Your Excellency that the Government of the United States of America regards with deep concern the provisions of this Proclamation. If carried into execution, this Proclamation would bring within the exclusive jurisdiction and control of the Republic of Korea wide ocean areas which have hitherto been regarded as high seas by all nations, and would in these waters and in the air spaces above supplant the free and untrammeled navigation of foreign vessels and aircraft bb such controls as the Republic of Korea, in the exercise of the sovereignty claimed, might apply. The disclaimer in Paragraph 4 does not lessen the concern of the United States Government since by the assertion of sovereignty, freedom of navigation in these areas might be claimed to be a Privilege granted b [sic] the Republic of Korea rather than a right deriving from international law. 　 Although the Proclamation purports to be supported by well-established international precedents, my Government is not aware of any accepted principle of international law which would qualify as a legitimate precedent for this purported extension of Korean sovereignty. In this regard, my Government wishes to call to the attention of the Republic of Korea, that, unlike the two Proclamations issued by the President of the United States of America on September 28, 1945 concerning United States policy with respect to the resources of the continental shelf and the conservation of contiguous high seas fisheries, the Korean Proclamation relates to Korean national sovereignty over the areas specified therein. The two United States Proclamations did not contemplate, nor in fact effect, any extension of the pre-existing territorial waters of the United States. On the contrary, the one has specific reference to the natural resources of the subsoil and sea bed rather than to the subsoil and sea bed so, while the other relates only to the maintenance of the productivity of the fishery resources in contiguous high seas and provides for joint action where one or more other states also have an interest in a fishery to be conserved. 　 With the foregoing considerations in mind, the Government of the United States of America desires to inform the Government of the Republic of Korea that it reserves all its interests and the interests of its nationals and vessels under the provisions of the Korean Proclamation in question, and under any measures designed to carry them into execution. 　 Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my most distinguished consideration. His Excellency 　 Yung-tai Pyun, 　　 Minister of Foreign Affairs, 　　　 Republic of Korea. MEMORANDUM 　 Part I: The United Government is very much interested in seeing a just and equitable settlement of the fishing problem and the other out- standing problems between Japan and Korea but believes that this is primarily a matter to be worked out between the two countries in the forthcoming negotiations. It is hoped that moderation on both sides and recognition of the community of interest between the two nations will lead to an equitable settlement. 　 Part II: The following is relevant international law and other background material. 1. The term “national sovereignty” denotes complete jurisdiction for all purposes. 2. The term “territorial waters” is derived from the fact that the littoral state has sovereignty over it. This distinguishes territorial waters from the high seas over which no nation has sovereignty. 3. Despite the Republic of Korea disclaimer, the Republic of Korea Proclamation is in effect equivalent to the claim that any nation can, by proclamation, convert the high seas into territorial waters. Dangun meant king in ancient Korea so there were many danguns throughout Gojoseons history

Your maps are so amazing detailed and informative. I can't help but noticed you failed to mention the military coup to overthrow democracy (with the implicit support of the U.S.) in the south in 1961, though. Also Kim Il Sung was not actually the leader of the north in the early 50s as I recall- it was one of the more moderate guys from the pro-China faction that was killed in 58 after attempting to seize power at the urging of Chrustchev

@@user-fi2vi5xj7f 문화의 충돌이라는 현상을 따르며 인류의 비극에 동참할 것인가, 아니면 다른 문명을 이해하고 화합하여 충돌을 막아서는 위치에 설것인가는 개인이 충분히 선택할 수 있습니다. 역사의 흐름에 저항할 수 있는 것이죠. 이 영상에 수많은 외국 분들이 한국의 문화, 역사를 이해하고 배우려 온 것처럼요. 물론 저 윗분처럼 민족주의를 경계한다면서 문화적 동질성마저 부정하는 것은 저도 반대합니다. 지구 반대편 사람과 동질감을 느끼려며 우선 내 옆사람과 동질감을 느껴야하니까요

태봉국은 한국사의 뿌리인듯. 왜냐하면 국가 체제 연속성으로 보자면 태봉 - 고려 - 조선 - 대한제국으로 이어지기 때문. 물론 일제강점기에 들어서는 그 연속성이 끊기긴 했지만 현재 대한민국은 대한제국을 계승했다는 말이 있으니 대한민국은 태봉에서부터 시작된 듯.

정말 오랜 만에 들어보는 태봉이네요. 댓글에서 여러번 반복 언급하시는걸 보니 한국사에서 중요한 분기점으로 보시는 것 같아요. 최소 중세시대부터 따진다면 일면 합당한 부분이 있을지도 모르겠지만. 한국사의 뿌리라는 표현은 그전까지를 다 잘라먹는 거 같아 어폐가 느껴집니다. 물론 어떠한 관점의 의견인지는 공감이 갑니다. 다만, 그렇다면 좀더 구체적으로 말씀해주셨더라면 오해의 소지가 적었을거 같습니다. 지극히 역사적인 관점에서 말입니다.
