My great grandmother bought my dad a Stanley thermos when he started a new factory job years ago. He got a new one with a company logo on it for his 15 year anniversary and gave me the old one. I work for the railroad now and I carry that old Stanley thermos on every single trip I make. It’s been in use for almost 25 years now. Highly recommend Stanley products 👍🏻👍🏻

Absolutely love stories like this. I bought 2 stainless steel thermos 6 years ago and even though I've dropped them countless times and they are full of dents, they keep serving me loyaly. Summers here in Greece can be a nightmare without something to keep your water cool. Haven't had to drink warm water in years! A good tool will literally make your life better and pay off its value 100 times over.

I have one I bought in 1984

I use the Stanley that you showed in the first scene and carry it every day to work. I fill it with coffee and at the end of my 12 hour shift it’s still coffee pot hot… been using it for going on 7 years down, and unlike everything else in this world it never lets me down

I used to have my Dad's military Stanley coffee thermos it would keep hot for days it was 40 years old and one day I forgot about it on the roof of my truck I heard it falling off went back to look for it someone had run over it broke my heart wish they were still made in the USA

My dad bought me a Stanley when I went to work…and when he retired he gave his Stanley to my son for hot cocoa and such

Thanks Carl for another interesting video. I still have the Stanley thermos my Dad carried to work with him in the '60s when he was a flightline mechanic for United Airlines. It accompanied me around the world many times in the '80s and '90s when I was a crew member on the KC-135R with the USAF. A hot cup of coffee at 3am when you're half way across the Atlantic is a pretty simple, but important comfort. Keep up the great work. I look forward to every new video. Thanks!

Stanley has a really cool camping french press that I've used a lot and what I like is that it's basically an uninsulated steel cook pot with a lightweight polymer filter/plunger and I can just boil my water over the fire or on my cook stove and use it for my oatmeal and coffee without dirtying another container

I bought a damaged bodum French press for $1 at a second hand store and used the press part (tossed the glass) It’s a perfect fit for my Stanley 2 person pot. My entire coffee kit fits in a 64oz bottle bag with stove and insulated cup.

This is one of those products I’ve always known where good but never really gave a second thought to

I remember my Dad's Stanley thermos it was an old one with the glass lining. He took it everywhere ,to work he took it hunting and one day it got knocked off the hood of his truck and the glass liner shattered. Even though it no longer held heat and you could hear the glass rattle around inside it he kept using it until Santa Claus aka my mom bought him a new one for Christmas. He never got rid of his old one it moved to his workbench out in his shop and stayed there for years. I love Stanley products and use them regularly and hopefully will continue for years to come. You left off the flask! After thermos and lunch pail, that perfect Stanley backpacking flask is the best.

My Dad did 35 years with UP out of Utah and had his Stanley thermos full for every wonderful 3am call. I started with the single pan set 4 years ago, now on to pretty much everything including the thermos and 2 coolers! 😱😳. Great products and good warranty!

My dad has a nice Stanly thermos we use when hunting and it's the best when we're out there and it's cold as hell

I use a Bodum 20 oz French Press to make coffee every morning. (Set grind to medium not coarse for better tasting coffee). I solved the problem of coffee getting cold and super strong for the second cup. I bought a giant 20 oz thick ceramic cup so you can pour all of your coffee into your big cup. Wished I thought of this years ago!

That lunch box is old school when my dad worked at the sawmill he used a steel lunch box, now everyone carries those insulated purses, I use the Stanley heritage cooler.

I bought the old tin style box 5-6 years ago. Still going strong after working 6 different jobs. I still get huge amounts of compliments from people who say “oh cool old school box”. The chincy metal that holds the handle is garbage. I replaced them with zip-ties. Works like a charm.

The french press is great because you're not over brewing the same grounds over and over again like a drip. You're also not filtering out the oil from the coffee with a filter. 🤌

My Best Friends Dad gave me my first Stanley Thermos. Unfortunately I don’t have it anymore, but I bought a new one. Now all I use is Stanley products. Simply Iconic Brand..

How often do you see one of these...every day when I take lunch. Love the video and yeah unless you've worked a trade job in the cold you don't realize how wonderful a simple hot lunch can be.

I had a short stint as a machinist assistant, at an open air machine shop it was always hot by lunch time, so to have a cold drink I took a Stanley coffee thermos with a “cup cap” and put ice and grape juice in the thermos. That made life a little better so I could keep going till 3-pm that was our heat limit then the shop closed for the day. Then I would get in the car turn on the a/c and have few more grape drinks before driving back home. P.s back then they didn’t have “sports bottles” like they do today. It always amazed how cold and how long the Stanley thermos lasted!

They also make a cool little nesting shot "glass" kit. Four metal shot glasses that nest inside a small metal tube with a screw top lid. The tube is fashioned in the hammertone green. It's nice to have at camp since there isn't anything to break if things turn wild.

I’ve had my Stanley thermos and lunch box since about 1990 (32 years and counting) I still use it occasionally.

One thing you didn't mention about Stanley is their LIFETIME Warranty. My dad gave me his thermos bottle from 1980 and the foam insulation inside the cap had degraded, so it sounded like sand in it when you shook the cap (cap itself was still fine, not cracked or anything and still worked). Anyway, I contacted Stanley, and they sent me a new cap. On two other thermoses that I ended up dropping off of a tower at about 50' they sent me new ones also. For that I had to take pictures and send the pics in showing the damage though. THAT IS QUALITY that is STANLEY! 😀

My dad used the Stanley thermos for his coffee back in the 80s when he was offshore drilling

I got this combo for Christmas a couple years ago. It is such a cool lunch bucket, I wanted it cause it reminded me of my Grandfather’s lunch pale.

My Grandfather worked for Bangor Hydro, on the dam’s. I think he had the same thing for lunch his whole career, out of the same lunch pale.

Stanley is awsome. I have the a couple of the modern, small-ish thermos bottles. I also have my grandfather's large bullet shaped, made in USA thermos.

My friend, if you want to find a method of making the best tasting coffee you’ve ever tasted, look for an Italian stovetop coffee maker called the “Termica Express”. There is also the identical unit called “Thermos Express” since Termica had this relationship with Thermos for making the first insulated stovetop integrated carafe. The Termica Express make literally the BEST tasting coffee you’ve ever tried. I made a short video on it, but periodically they show up on eBay and Etsy. For sale. I recently spotted a literally unused one on Etsy and snagged it. But there are still a few out there. 😎😎😎

Your audio is all screwed up near end for about 30 seconds.

I have 6 Stanley's. Two really old ones 1930 somethings....they are copper . So I stripped , polished and cleared them . Cork tops

Stanley has really reinvigorated themselves. On the cookset, how durable is the 2piece spoon and spatula? Seems like it would not hold up well under regular use, especially the spatula, for things like pancakes, hash, hearty stews...

I soured on their water bottles, lids leaked shortly after purchase. However the Thermos, lunch box and Growler are tops!

I absolutely love my Stanley stein and 40 oz thermos. They survived a bad car accident which destroyed my yeti coosies

I have an all black Stanley, stainless inside but cup/bowl and bottom is plastic. It is the only one I kept because it was made in the USA.

I thought you were being generous when you said the Bodum French press would last a week on the job site. More like 30 minutes. I love French press coffee and have been making it for over a decade out of my Planetary Design's French Press. Check them out. Also French Press tip, don't leave coffee in the press after pressing. Immediately transfer the coffee to another container or the brew will become bitter and stale. I use a Nissan thermos. I guess a Stanley one could work too.

It’s not a bad living dude! Especially when you work in NY territory where the rates are higher, plus night differential. Of course, there’s a lot of travel involved…

i have a collection of stanley thermos’ all prior to 1940. i have around ten. most were picked up at yard sales or antique malls. these have corks and blue porcelain liners. the earliest one is a black one that holds a pint. the odd thing is it has one patent date which is 1907. i contacted stanley but no one was interested.

When Stanley products were made in the USA the quality was really incredible, nowadays the products are good, but the quality is not the same as before.

Does the water jug fit in the lunch box? Does it fit in place of the thermos?

@@CarlMurawski most of us use old sandvic miner bit buckets. But there is a company out of Canada that makes an aluminum lunch box that will last forever but I can't think of the name. If I find it I'll post it

I'll stick with Igloo since they're made in the USA.

Hey I have a boot question? I'm a lineman and I use to wear hoffman dri line boots. I stopped wearing them because of the weight and comfort. About 9 years ago I switched to mountaineering boots like lowa gtx and kenetreck and scarpa. This style of boot is so comfortable but don't last but 2 years at most in my trade. What boot would you recommend thats maybe a little lighter and comfortable without a logger or lineman heel but still a decent heel to catch my hooks and that I'll have for 5 or 6 years +? Thanks!

I just bought a new Stanley thermos from amazon. Yes, they're made in China. Yes, they're lighter in weight. However, I feel they are still built perfectly fine. I actually like that it's lighter weight. Easier to carry. I've heard some people complain that it's chinese made. Who cares? Almost everything is made in China. Appliances, Iphones, TVs, computers, shoes, clothing, parts for cars, tools, knives. I have a casio G shock watch made in China. That thing can take abuse like no ones business.

Unfortunately, their QC and customer service are below any possible level lately. Newly acquired Quadvac Trigger Action Mug lost almost all coating on the bottom in two month living only on my desk, nightstand and in my car, without any adventure or tough life. CS is nowhere to be found- they don't answer emails, online forms or whatever. International call seems ludicrous for a $20-30 mug. Sic transit... Maybe my mistake was to fall for fancy "wine" color, should've sticking to hammertone or stainless...

Honestly I have no interest in buying modern Stanley products made off shore; I will spend my money at goodwill on an old stanley flask or a new vacuum flask when a company is brave to start domestic production once again. Also LOL your old flask which seems to have a price sticker on the bottom still . . . nice story though.
