Fun Fact: the (albeit inferior) DSiWARE version of Rayman is on the 3DS Virtual Console. Yeah, some of the music is missing and some of the levels are changed, but you can run around in Band Land and the Blue Mountains while taking a dump. Also yes, the little blue disco balls are called "Tings". Even the DSIWARE Magician Man says "Ten Tings please." before you go to a bonus stage.

I think Rayman might be the only game in existence to make me feel sad whenever I kill a mosquito. Seriously, I felt for that little guy after you beat him.

Here's a tip to anyone stuck on the scorpion boss: His attacks follow your fist, not your body. Also, there's an extra life code that not only gives you 99 lives but refills your health completely, and you can use it as many times as you want. It completely breaks the game, and I love it for that reason.

I'm still very proud that I 100%'d this game with no codes. It was one of the hardest games I ever played.

My parents owned a barber shop named Kid's Cuts when I was a child, and they had playstations in it to keep the kids waiting for their appointments busy. Rayman was one of the games I remember them having available. To be honest, I am surprised the first Rayman game was popular enough to get a sequel. With how fiendishly difficult it was, under normal circumstances it probably would have been a flop and that would have been it for Rayman. I wonder what attracted so many people to it? Cool art style, unique gameplay and great music can only go so far before people discover how murderous the game is.

Here's the 100% cheatcode for the PAL version: N W ? W D 1 5 ! 4 Q I still know it from over a decade ago :D The boss in picture-city (the lady in the washingmashine) is also the furthest i've ever gotton without cheats. I still have all my continues left but i can't beat it anyways. But to be honest, all the levels before, i don't find to hard at all, including all electoon cages besides from a hand full.

I got curious and looked up the final boss. It's underwhelming. After presenting a series of fire hazards to avoid, Mister Dark pisses off and leaves you to fight a conga line of composite bosses made from previous ones. Then it's "Well done, you saved the world!" and conglaturations. Here's a ten second clip of fireworks over the valley.

Mr. Dark isn't as bad as a villain name as Mr. D from Frogger's Adventure.

I think Mr. Dark should've been called something like Neutoon, since a neutron has about the same mass as a proton but without an electric charge. The order in the world kept by the Great Protoon is this world's equivalent to electric charge, and Mr. Dark steals it for its power.

At least the villain isn't called "Mr. Superbadevilpersondude" or something.

Yeah, I gave up at that dark part at 15:15 where the only source of light is your fist. It was bad enough when you could actually see everything.

Why. Why did I ever think I could complete this game? Literally every single thing you said in this video is spot on with my experience with the game all those years ago. Once I got to the musical stages, I thought I must be close to finishing the game but just seeing all of the BS you had to put up with has made me glad I gave up with Rayman when I did. Jesus I would have lost my sanity.

Was I the only one who thought the guy voicing "evil mr dark" sounded just like "the care and feeding of a grinch"

12:33 if you use the slide and jump to the upper right corner you can make appear one of the fairies that change your size among other stuff.

If nothing else, Ubisoft learned from mistakes. Some of the stuff in Rayman Origins and Legends can get hard as balls, but with the removal of lives and by extension game overs, your only obstacle to stop you playing is your own endurance.

I wonder how he would feel if he played Rayman Redemption?

I don't think I ever actually got past the first world in this game, but I always loved playing it. Also Caddi, nice video and awesome hoodie. Looks good on you.

It’s so weird remembering these tings in the game for the first time in about 20 years. I didn’t even have a single thoughts about this game for that long and my memories are coming back. This is so weird, I loved this thing!

I got a bunch of games along with a ps1 for Christmas a few years back because I watched your videos and wanted to try them(crash bandicoot 1/2, Spyro 1, and croc 1 included) and I was lucky enough to have this game included in it. I enjoyed it.

I faaaaacking loved this game as a kid! The art, the music, it was perfect! It's because of games like this that I became a gamedev!

Caddy didn't even mention one of the worst parts of the game: hidden objects. Sometimes the cages (which you are required to find to beat the game) won't appear until you touch a random pixel on the screen. This means you have to hop around and explore literally every square inch of the level until something appears. Why they expected people to know what to do is beyond me.

Rayman was the first game I ever played and I loved it back than. I remember I never could 100% it until I was like 16, but this game was just awesome!

Wow, Caddy, i would have never heard of you if it wasnt for Rayman cuz i was looking for a review of Rayman 1 back in summer of 2016, and you were the top result, ive been subbed for a while, your vids are awsome, hilarious i funny as hell, watching this vid again is just nostalgic of watching your channel. I hope this channel lives for a long time.
