OLD Railroad and Truck Crossings in Granite City, IL!
The first crossing is a railroad crossing which has two old gated signals, one with 12×20 inch lights and one with 8 inch lights, and a WCH mechanical bell on the relay case. The second is purely AMAZING though, as it's a truck crossing, and it has two gated 12×20 inch gated signals, one with a WRRS mechanical bell and one with a WABCO bell! And this crossing is still active and used by trucks likely several times every work day! I need to get back out here sometime! UPDATE 9-21-19: Joseph's Trains can confirm the WABCO bell at the truck crossing is sadly dead but the WCH mechanical bell still works. Enjoy!

I like the bell on top of the relay case. Usually, if the bell is on the relay case, it is on the side held up by a bracket or something. Lots of crossings on one road, cool! That is something you don't see everyday.

I noticed that too. Such old crossings and they have new LED gate lights probably made my Western Cullen Hayes.

With the mention of Granite City IL in another post makes me think these crossings are for the steel mill. If that's the case that mill was was active until the economy took a dump in 08 and was shut down sometime after that and was reactivated in the last year or so. The new LED gates might be new upgrades in preparation for start up of operations. After all that's most likely bottle cars and slang ladles crossing that road and running into a regular freight train is bad but running into a train that the cargo is effectively lava brings things up on the badsh*tometer several levels.

The last crossing you went over was actually not a railroad crossing, it is actually a crossing for giant dump trucks( far too large for normal roads) to pass through.

What's WR? Also these crossings have very rare equipment, so I doubt it.

WR is amazing it’s in Niedringhaus Ave, got a 90’s Safetran Cantilevere And a Safetran type 1 Bell. Also do you have discord?

Granite City, IL. How can a crossing with no tracks at all (the second one) be in service? The first one was also abandoned.

@@kyleb06 Embargoed, which means the railroad still owns this line and can run trains down it if needed, so its not really abandoned, just un-used (embargoed)

factory closing up won't be needed anymore
what vandals do? steal the Cross bucks off of the one set. that's a very scenic side of town when it gets dark

It's not vandalized, that's actually a truck crossing, so it never had crossbucks. At the time I didn't know about it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqSct6pvedSnhaw.html

They are both active believe it or not. The truck crossing just got upgraded not too long ago as well.
