First of all I want thank his ancestors for the good of the Country. I don't appreciate the way they were treated. After their we should asked them if they wanted to go home to Africa and taken back the right way. God Bless everyone who had Ancestors who were slaves. My family fought against slavery. Who picked the cotton, built homes and picked tobacco. Not the white people. I'm sorry this happened to all of my black people. Y'all are the best people. I believe that now because of this video there is a way America can give back and recognize these people by fixing these graves. God Bless all of you. Black people are the backbone of the United States.

There was an effort before the Civil War to return slaves to Africa, but it didn't work out. Look up the American Colonization Society. And there were quite a few poor whites who picked cotton, built houses, and picked tobacco, but at least they were free.

Happy that he is able to put some of the pieces of the puzzle together, and get a grasp on how the plantation was, where his family was enslaved. So sad and unfortunate life was like this, but glad he can connect to the resting place of his family. Just so strange watching this, knowing that it is not that far from where I was born and lived so much of my life. I really enjoyed this. Thank you.🐾🦊🐺

I've had to explain a few times to a few people why it's hard to trace our history. First we were enslaved, which wiped out knowledge of our origins. Then we were mixed, matched and breed. Then as many that could fled to the north, leaving everything including knowledge of their short history behind (knowing they couldn't return). In all actuality, early 1900's is when black people really began to understand what it meant to have family that could stay together. We are literally the youngest "race". Some people think slavery and segregation was so long ago, but it was only 3&4 generations ago...

Many years ago I began my family genealogy. It was and still is a fascinating journey. One of my uncles said ,at the time, "families have someone, usually 3 to 4 generations apart, who will come along with interest in the family's journey. You are that person." This young man has that passion for his family. For us older people, it is very comforting to see young people who truly cares about their past history.

Oh Robert that resting place felt sad to me..... So glad that you have documented this place. Wasn’t Georgia one of the states to have the largest numbers of enslaved persons?? We don’t get to learn much about America’s history unfortunately. It would be awesome to have more knowledge. Where do all the field stones come from?? Are they brought in when the person is buried or what? I ask because there doesn’t seem to be a lot of stones other than the field stones about. Thank you for this great video. Very informative. Well done Robert. God bless.

My home state of Virginia and Georgia were neck to neck. I believe that many of the enslaved came to the shores of Virginia, where it started, and from there those peoples were sent south. Its a history that I would love to see all Black Americans embrace with pride! This country was built on those folks backs.

@@wesleyculpepper4571 I do hope that you will take your story to other organizations and urge them to organize and preserve and document every grave they can find in every slave cemetery they can find. Names may not be able to be assigned to them, but there can and should be an accounting for them so that we don't ever forget. (As a Jewish person, I know that in some countries, Jewish cemeteries that have been documented and used for centuries were paved over and otherwise destroyed after WWII and all the chaos is caused. Jews were evicted from all the Arab countries where they had been for many centuries, even thousands of years, when Israel was created as a Jewish state. Their ancestors' graves were desecrated, stones destroyed, the sacred burial ground sold and developed. As Americans, we cannot let that happen in America any more than it has already happened.)

Best one yet! (Cemetery video) Finally someone looking for family instead of just a strangers last resting place. So happy you were along to document it. Blessings ~

Very interesting. The intertwined history and heritage is amazing. So worth preserving. I think it would be worth a lot for the Terry family to record their oral histories while they still can.

Thank-you for your kind words. It was a joy working with Robert on this project. As you stated earlier, the family history was passed down orally from my great great grandparents down through my father down to me. In the late 80s we transcribed the family history and passed it out at a family reunion. With the website accessory.com we will also able to piece together a lot of missing facts. This popped up and I had to watch it again. Does my heart good to see him finding his heritage. I'd be out there helping him get it figured out, and cleaned up.
