Imagine if one day we can get the Sims and its expansions on one of these things.
Love your commentary on "these shoulder buttons are too clicky" vs "omg i have the power to play these games in my pocket". Great video overall!
You definitely cover vital information of how to install software such as ports and that's important to me and everyone who is watching this. Just wish more were informative as you. I'm subbed!
thanks so much for putting this video together. I loved playing DOS games back in the day and now can play them again.
Hey Dude! Here is a "dad from germany". I really apreciate this video. I 100% agree to what you've said: that this stuff blows the mind. Same goes for me. I'm playing currently on my Odin Pro. I LOVE to play these old DOS games, which made my childhood back then (I'm 43 now), as well. If anyone would have told my younger me, that I'm going to play all these fine games on a mobile device, I wouldnt believe him. Thats absolutely amazing - as you said. I'm grateful for all these fine tech today which makes it possible. I finished a complete playtrough of Dune 2 (Westwood) and Monkey Island 2 (LucasArts) a few weeks ago. I'm currently playing Heroes of Might and Magic 1 on the Odin and getting desperate on the final level of the first campaign. These are fine days we live in!

Oh man Dune 2 was such a good game! I should have shown that one in this vid. And I'm so with ya. It's a fantastic time we're living in. In many ways It's even better than the future I could have imagined. Yeah, we don't have flying cars or anything, but every old PC game I could ever want in my pocket!? That's even better than flying cars!

Hi does this come with m s dos games built in?
I love going back and looking at some of your previous content, because it just brings back such good memories. One thing for sure that I believe is the case for many of us gaming geeks and dweebs is that we spent A LOT of cash on those retro games. I remember playing Terminal Velocity and deciding that playing it with a mouse just wasn't enough. I ended up buying one of those Microsoft 360 flight controllers that made games like Terminal Velocity and Descent so much fun, well worth it. My friends who weren't into tech or gaming thought I was nuts, but I didn't care, I was having a great time. Another game that I loved playing that was a DOS game was called Crusader No Remorse. It had a very interesting point of view, and was really fun to play. I am going to have to see if I can still locate it to play again.
lol, the minute I saw your Scumm guide, I thought of Humongous Games and made a personal note to add them when I can. So I'm glad to see someone else appreciate them. They were *not* educational, but we loved them as kids.

Im still practically a baby or not being born yet when it comes to DOS games but I have played my share with Fallout and Fallout 2, being a fan of their franchise I think I'll finally get into playing Doom and Duke Nukem when I got my miyoo mini plus! Thanks for making this
Brilliant video!! And very detailed!! I used to play sometimes on my parents Windows 95 computer. I vaguely remember DOS. I do remember I was banned from the machine that ran DOS as I once typed random keys and caused havoc. I wish my parents had more patience and taught me stuff. Ironically, knowing about DOS can help you get to navigate a non GUI interface. Linux Terminal would have been an easy transition coming from DOS.

I love old PC games. I grew up with a Commodore 64, then got an Amiga 500 many years later. Eventually I got a PC, and we didn't have internet. We had what they called BBS. I would get on there and ask if anyone wanted to play multiplayer Doom, Quake, or Duke Nukem 3D. I'd call them or they'd call me, and I'd be up to like 4 or 5 in the morning battling it out with others. So much fun, especially with mods for those games. I'll never forget the experience I had when I played Descent for the first time too. It felt like I was on a rollercoaster the way you had the freedom to twist and turn and go wherever you wanted. I guess my top 10 PC games would be: Doom, Doom 2, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Rise of the Triad, Command and Conquer: Red Alert, Wolfenstein 3D, Descent, Diablo, and Half-Life. What would yours be?
@TechDweeb

I was subscribed to a BBS too! It was a Toronto based BBS called Magic BBS. I mainly used it to look at pictures of The Simpsons to print at my buddy's place because he had a laser printer. I just needed lots of printouts of Simpsons characters for some reason? I like your list. Very many overlaps with mine ;)

Microsoft Decathlon was the first DOS game I played on my Dad’s computer. I also enjoyed King’s Quest and Digger. I really enjoy your Channel. Just purchased the Miyoo Mini Plus with onion as well as the Anbernic RG405V that you recommend. Looking forward to playing some games of my childhood (DOS, Intellivision, NES, Gameboy, SEGA Genesis, PlayStation 1, SEGA DreamCast). Subscribed to your channel. Having fun going through your past videos. -Matt
That story of what you went through to play Doom gave me anxiety. I remember my Dad spending forever on our home computer to get Mech Warrior 2 to play. It was also worth it in my opinion.
Now this was pretty cool, started loading up some of the scummvm games like space quest and full throttle to remember my youth.
It does kind of blow my mind that I can play Quake on this tiny handheld... and it looks and plays great! Younger me from the 90's would have lost his mind!

This video made me want to experiment with my favorite DOS strategy/RPG games from the 90s. I don't think I can play the action games or timing sensitive games (RTS games) but turn-based games or wargames or RPGs are perfect possibilities. Here are some games I wonder if I could get running: *Castles 2 Siege and Conquest *Heroes of Might and Magic 1 and 2 (I see this works in the video) *Jagged Alliance *Master of Magic *Master of Orion 1+2 *Civilization *Colonization *Panzer General 1 *Scorched Earth (fun multiplayer hot seat gaming) *Fantasy General *Worms *Centurion Defender of Rome *X-COM *L'Empereur, Liberty or Death, Romance of the 3 Kingdoms, etc (KOEI made some complicated strategy games I never understood as a kid but liked to experiment with them) *Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space *Fallout 1 Would the Miyoo Mini be powerful enough? The screen seems to have good enough resolution but small text may be an issue I guess.
@TechDweeb

HOMM, no problem Turn based strategy games, no problem. Anything with very fine mouse controls or fast paced accurate clicking will probably give you problems. I'm not familiar with all the games on your list (although many are near and dear to my heart), but the Mini is powerful enough to play a lot. And the screen is VERY crisp. If your eyesight is good enough, you'll be fine. I was playing HOMM and could read all the small stuff no prob.
I was looking for a way to run classic DOS games on the SBCGaming subreddit and look who I found! Great to stumble upon your content again. I wish there was a similar tutorial for the RG35XX! By the way, I followed everything, but I still don't know how to start the ScummVM games!

@TechDweeb which homm2, diablo and warcraft installs did you use? I have tried both gog and abandonware downloads but they do not seem to work on my rg280v (which kinda uses the same RetroArch and DosBox). Heyyy Tech Dweeb! Great guide and video as always man. I can't wait to get my brand new Miyoo Mini running my childhood DOS favorites - Tyrian, Jazz Jackrabbit, Doom, Descent and Wacky Wheels. I was surprised to see anyone else knew about Terminal Velocity! DOS games are truly fantastic, and my daughter even loves Putt Putt. I just tried it and it worked (using a version I found online). The performance was very slow once you got into the 3D portion of the game, but it did work perfectly up until then, and there might be some settings you can tweak in the performance section to get it running better.

Hey TD! Just curious if you still keep any old hardware for DOS/Windows games? I don't go crazy myself, just a socket 7, slot 1, and socket 478 system that I pull out from time to time. And thanks for the how to on the Mini!

This was super helpful thank you, as simple as I'd hoped it be, quick question I am confused as I have a folder that says BIOS (in between APP and EMU) but i've read to put BIOS files in the system part of retroarch, so there's two bios folders? Do i need to copy the files from retroarch to the other one?
Banana and the handmade cat made my day😂😂
Boy do you wish you had this mini back in the day when we got our original monochrome Gameboy? We really would have been playing with portable power!
This video helped a lot. Thanks. But how do you add multi disk Amiga games to the Miyoo Mini?
Might need to update the tutorial for ScummVM witht he current Onion OS on the Miyoo Mini Plus. I added Beneath a Steel Sky and nothing else, followed all instructions, fired it up and it asks to "import games" then gives me 4 options. I choose and option and it for some odd reason loads up over 30 titles that are not on my SD card. Ignoring that I try to fire up Beneath a Steel Sky and get "Error: Could not opensky.dnr!" Kinda lost as to what to do.
Can we do the same with the RG35XX?? Have you tried Shadow Warriors and Death Rally?
Looks like the age old dream of HeXen and Blood being played on the go is finally coming true.
Hey there not sure if this has been asked im getting one for Christmas i love retro games does it have Heretic on it? ocean explorers and Donkey Kong 64, Neverwood, Monkey Island, Commander Keen and Treehouse ? Thanks just wondering most of these are old DOS PC games!!! Thanks so much!!

Fond memories of playing the Monkey Island Games, Links, and Facetris (or was it Faces?). Still trying to figure out how to get the controls working on Facetris on the Mini.
I just got a Miyoo Mini and I absolutely have to try these too. Have already added Pico-8, trying to add DS. The only thing is my Ports does not list all of that shown here, so I dunno yet what's up with that.

Great video
I probably played a ton of dos games, most of which came from a demo disc with my PC. But the first dos game I purchased was dark forces for my win95 pc. I saw star wars and was sold. Not neccesarily an unknown game but still cool. Duke, and eapecially quake became staples. Quake in partitcular because of Mplayer. I found Mplayer to be better than just using the QW server browser because it had more social features. My expectations with the miyoo was to enjoy my snes collection, its tiny and comfortable for my hands. I do wish it had saturn emulation, I'd love to play sakura wars on it, but I cant complain, I knew what I was getting and glad I did. 😊
Me an 8 or 9 year old living in puerto rico always loved playing the first 20 or so minutes of duke nukem 64 on repeat. I would always get stuck at the movie theater section and not know what to do because I didn’t understand english.
