Back in 1978 I was working with a construction company out of Claremont, they had a contract in Tampa, well work dried up so I moved to Claremont to keep working. Went out frog gigging (in what they called the green swamp) with one of the guys, the air boat broke down, he said stay here ill be back I stayed all night, next day by noon he didn't show up so I hoofed it out, what a nightmare, that's when I got my first being prepared lesson ( I wasn't had a folding knife a frog gig, 4 PBR beer cans and an old beatup fish smelling alice pack)... learned a lot but strangely enough I came out about half a mile from the guys trailer. We wnt back latter to recover the boat.

The Green Swamp. My favorite place to photograph. That looks like the Maynard Mine not far from 471 and Trail Ford Bridge. Cow Ford Bridge is about a mile from there on the north side and crosses Cross Creek to the power lines. Great video as always Joe.

Yea a mix of both, the gators I see a lot in the river here in this video. Especially along the banks where those rocks are, on another recent visit I saw some juvenile gators in a creek in the green swamp. I try and just give them space. The snakes it varies I try and watch out all the time especially if I am going through brush and off the trail. But even on trails you will see them soaking in the sun so you have to watch your step. A lot of times they were scurry off but you have to be cautious for sure. I don't let it deter me I respect their space here and enjoy seeing the wildlife just something about it, their is a connection you feel with it all.
