Timothy Lee Richmond (June 7, 1955 - August 13, 1989) was an American race car driver from Ashland, Ohio. He competed in IndyCar racing before transferring to NASCAR's Winston Cup Series. Richmond was one of the first drivers to change from open wheel racing to NASCAR stock cars full-time, which later became an industry trend.[4] He won the 1980 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year award and had 13 victories during eight NASCAR seasons.
Richmond achieved his top NASCAR season in 1986 when he finished third in points.[1] He won seven races that season, more than any other driver on the tour.[1] When he missed the season-opening Daytona 500 in February 1987, media reported that he had pneumonia.[1] The infection most likely resulted from his compromised immune system, which was weakened by AIDS. Despite the state of his health, Richmond competed in eight races in 1987, winning two events and one pole position before his final race in August of that year.[1] He attempted a comeback in 1988 before NASCAR banned him for testing positive for excessive over-the-counter drugs, ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine; NASCAR later announced they gave Richmond a new test and tested negative. Richmond filed a lawsuit against NASCAR after NASCAR insisted they wanted access to his entire medical record before they would reinstate him. After losing the lawsuit, Richmond withdrew from racing. NASCAR later stated their original test was a "bad test."[5]
Richmond grew up in a wealthy family and lived a freewheeling lifestyle, earning him the nickname "Hollywood".[6] In describing Richmond's influence in racing, Charlotte Motor Speedway president Humpy Wheeler said, "We've never had a race driver like Tim in stock car racing. He was almost a James Dean-like character."[6] When Richmond was cast for a bit part in the 1983 movie Stroker Ace,[6] "He fell right in with the group working on the film," said director Hal Needham.[6] Cole Trickle, the main character in the movie Days of Thunder, played by Tom Cruise, was loosely based on Richmond and his interaction with Harry Hyde and Rick Hendrick.
Old Milwaukee is a brand of American dry lager owned by the Pabst Brewing Company and consists of four different brews-Old Milwaukee Lager, Old Milwaukee Light, Old Milwaukee Non-Alcoholic, and Old Milwaukee Ice. Old Milwaukee is brewed throughout the USA and various packages are currently distributed in all 50 US states, many Canadian provinces, and in select international markets.
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is an American auto racing sanctioning and operating company that is best known for stock-car racing.[1] The privately owned company was founded by Bill France Sr. in 1948,[2] and his son, Jim France, has been the CEO since August 6, 2018.[3] The company is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida.[4] Each year, NASCAR sanctions over 1,500 races at over 100 tracks in 48 US states as well as in Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
Pontiac was a car brand owned, made, and sold by General Motors. Introduced as a companion make for GM's more expensive line of Oakland automobiles,[1] Pontiac overtook Oakland in popularity and supplanted its parent brand entirely by 1933.
Sold in the United States, Canada, and Mexico by GM, Pontiac was advertised as the performance division of General Motors from the 1960s onward.[2] In the hierarchy of GM's five divisions, it slotted above Chevrolet, but below Oldsmobile, Buick, and Cadillac.
Amid late 2000s financial problems and restructuring efforts, GM announced in 2008 it would follow the same path with Pontiac as it had with Oldsmobile in 2004 and discontinued manufacturing and marketing vehicles under that brand by the end of 2010. The last Pontiac-badged cars were built in December 2009, with one final vehicle in January 2010. Franchise agreements for Pontiac dealers expired on October 31, 2010,[3] leaving GM to focus on its four remaining North American brands: Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC.
The Grand Prix is a line of automobiles produced by the Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1962 through 2002 for coupes and 1988-2008 for sedans. First introduced as part of Pontiac's full-size car model offering for the 1962 model year, the marque varied repeatedly in size, luxury, and performance during its lifespan. Among the changes were positioning in the personal luxury car market segment and mid-size car offering from the 2nd generation to the 5th generation for the sedan and from the 2nd generation to the 6th generation from the coupe; it returned to a full-size car from the 6th generation to the 7th generation for the sedan, positioned below the larger Bonneville in Pontiac's model lineup.

Chris is a awesome guy and have never met him, he don't mind responding to questions, telling a story sometimes while he's building and giving tips and short cuts! I have learned a few tricks he does and it turns out just as good. I have layed the paint brush down alot now and went back and forth from airbrush to can for most of the build. I do wire and plumb all of my builds. But he builds like he likes i build like i like everyone is different. I really do like his builds, tips and short cuts!

It's awesome that some of these companies are stepping up and saving these kits from disappearing forever. Thank you for the comments about the flash because you are correct it is called model building and it's not Lego building. I never ever worry about the flash or mold seams because it makes me a better builder because I have to do some sanding and blending and I love it. It's a great build like always, looks amazing. Thank you for sharing and everyone stay safe and healthy. Take care of each other and smile.

@Daniel Johnston absolutely agree, I know that the development and molds for really detailed models kits are very expensive but they would sell like hot cakes. Most model builders would buy more than 1 because of they would have such potential because of how detailed.

I love those old monogram nascar kits. I still have probably 15 of the ones I did as a kid. I recently acquired one of the old 85 buick kits and made my own waltrip mountain dew car. Cant tell you how many sunday afternoons my dad and I spent watching nascar races in the mid/late 80s. What I found really cool is to have one of those old races playing on you tube as I'm building one of these awesome classics. Love the channel. Thanks for keeping our hobby rolling!

DeLaun Fifield Got to remember as well bud, not everybody uses an airbrush. Most builders use either Tamiya, Rustoleum, krylon or MCW. Spray cans are still the most predominantly used type of paint. Too, it’s not about pleasing other people with your builds by insuring exact color match. Whether or not HPI guys color matches exactly, it is still a great build.

Chris thanks for the detailed video on this one -- including the application of decals and using the Sharpie on the windshield moldings. I just did that on my Bobby Allison Buick. Hey -- regarding the decals. I see you use setting solution when applying decals to the body (so do I). What about on the tires ? Do you also use setting solution when applying the "Goodyear" decals to the tires ?

Good looking kit and good looking build as usual. If and when the Folgers car reissues you could paint that chassis apple red and just swap them. That colonial red looked a bit like the Folgers color.

The simple reason why i think i like these better than the old Monogram NASCAR kits is simply because when they make those they went the extra mile to make the kits more detailed.

Chris what a bad ass build (sorry about the language). Its so great that Round2 is doing reissue of these older kits, and they do a outstanding job of it. The one thing that comes to mind for me is that all the work that went into theses kits back in the 60's 70's and 80's from the tool and die makers to the box artists, now there legacy still lives on. It's a tribute to all the work that went into the kitswe all love to build. To quote you Chris if someone complains about flash " throw 'em down a flight of stairs". Again excellent build👍👍

I was raised up in Iowa my dad and uncle always drank old Milwaukee beer. I have this kit and after watching your video, I want to build mine. I have a question about a paint booth. The ones on Amazon all say not to use flammable paints. Where can I find one that is safe to use rattle can paints ?? I need one that the hose can be placed in a open window . I really would appreciate your input on this matter. Also I fully enjoy watching your builds , I have learned a lot watching your videos

I use mine with rattle cans for years in mine, no issues. They mostly come with tubes to route it out the window now.

Question about using the Future/Pledge floor polish. Have you noticed any change later on to the glass in the kits? Any discoloration or anything? I've never used the floor polish clear coat method so it's a new to me technique. Also any runs/drips on the bottom edges of the body? Noticed that there was some dripping off in the video. Thanks. Loving watching the SalvinosJR kit builds on the channel
