Old Guard Media Kills Long Form Discussion

In this excerpt from our most recent podcast with Vivek Ramaswamy, he and Dr. Peterson discuss his run-in with the Atlantic, how they purposely removed context from his interview, and why the establishment media attempts to kill nuance and long form discussion.

    This video is a *perfect* example of how crooked and corrupt the entire system of legacy media and politics as a whole are. Instead of seeking truth, they actively seek to create a narrative that fulfills whatever it is they want to create, for whatever reasons. Also, as someone who has worked as a video editor for decades now, I know *exactly* how interviews and audio snippets can be twisted and manipulated. For those of us who edit video from an honest perspective, we sometimes shuffle things around so the overall story is more clear and engaging. Unfortunately, when it comes to legacy media and politics, this technique is used ALL THE TIME to smear people, discredit people, and to twist facts in such a way that it's not technically a lie, but not the truth either. It's vile and sickening.

    When Dr. Peterson gained such unexpected fame, I don't know if he had any clue at the time that everything he had taught about the heroes journey, facing dragons, having bits of you torn away and the struggles a pains of this mortal journey were about to make themselves very plain and obvious to him in a such a personal way. I am truly grateful for the man and what he has done for western men. I hope he knows how many lives he has changed, including my own.

    Victor Davis Hanson on Megyn Kelly said recently he noticed in the polling data, which parts of the population are voting Democrat vs. Republican: college educated people vote heavily Democrat. Does this mean they are smarter? No, I think it reflects economic interest. America is a complex place, political parties evolve to capture certain segments of the population based on their economic interests and beliefs. College educated people are right to vote Democrat as they realize the political agenda of the left mostly benefits the college educated. A generation ago in the Kennedy liberal era, most people on the left were very pro-working class. It's in books like Working by Studs Terkel. Back in the 1960s you needed a high school education to work in a news room. Now you need a college degree. "Coming Apart" is an interesting book by Charles Murray long ago, that first noticed the classes in America are starting to come apart, form their own self-contained worlds of privilege and marriage. Professor Peterson once said most of his students at Harvard had parents in the economic top 1%. Of course Harvard is wildly leftist. It's the same broad social pattern: most young people who go to college have at least one, often two parents who went to college. Nepotism reinforces class privilege as well as world view. This is reflected in old school media snobbery. Legacy media is largely filled with the children of the elite. Such as Chris Cuomo somehow got into Harvard. His dad was Governor of New York. Anderson Cooper has repeated for decades, "keeping them honest". Well honestly, Anderson is a spoiled child of privilege, he has lots of rich ancestors. The legacy media has many reasons to not like long form discussions. The main one is, people will catch on, all the class privilege in media. CNN is all about upper class privilege. Katie Couric put it this way on Fox today: she characterized Republicanism as "anti-intellectualism". We all know how condescending that is. Typical Democrat. Vivek is refreshing because he is the child of recent immigrants, he is more like an old school liberal from the 1960s, who is still very much at home with the middle and working class. I saw him appear on Fox News "The 5" and that much was obvious. He's culturally comfortable with middle class Americans. Democrats on the other hand, are not. The classes are coming apart: Democrats are the party of snobs now, the party of the upper class, protecting corporate interests. Hillary put it this way about the American working class: "Deplorables". Whereas Obama put it this way: "They stick to their guns and religion." Democrat Nancy Pelosi characterized middle America as "Fly over country" in "small town America".

    The democrats are definitely the party of economic elites but still represent racial minorities especially blacks and sexual odd balls, etc. The democrats are the party of social and cultural outsiders. The Republicans, more or less, represent the economically marginalized.

  • @Aibric

    @Aibric

    I think it is more accurately about social class, which economic interest partially explains. There are plenty of people whose economic interests are not served by the democrat party but identify with it because they want to be seen as part of a higher status class. They almost certainly don’t think in those explicit terms because like most people they don’t understand themselves, but it’s what motivates their affiliation. Once the affiliation is made, they’re much more likely to uncritically accept and amplify whatever the party says or does, and oppose everything about the “other side.”

    It's not just the media. Employers are doing the same thing, with complicity from, in my opinion, sycophantic employees to target employees who have what they consider to be 'wrong' attitudes or opinions. As an example that risks putting my neck on the line: in 2009 (or there abouts) I participated in an Equality and Diversity course. The paperwork involved stated quite clearly that there were no right or wrong answers, yet I failed the final exam for giving the wrong answers to several key questions. I was told that if I re-took the exam and corrected my wrong answers then I would easily pass. I refused to participate further. What is impacting us today has been building momentum for some time.

Not bound by party affiliated agendas or proselytizing. That's something we needed....

    As I recall it was leftwing social warrior activists who came out in force in favour of the brutalistic, nationalistic ANC in South Africa - and within a decade Johannesburg went from the safest capital city in the world to the most dangerous. And SA's status as a flourishing bread basket African nation disappeared. That's where feelings over rational discussions (with a the facts on the table) leads, in my opinion.

Great slogan…social media is corrupting the very essence of what the people should know in its full context and not from snippets of the macro narrative of any discussion and/or debate. Good reference to look into in terms of adhering to what our society in general should stand up for with a firm conviction and stance to gain trust and respect from the public.

Just another long winded, meaningless explanation by a politician.
